Calibration
In the factory, a test jig is used in place of the front panel to generate accurate control settings. In
the field, control settings can only be made to the accuracy of the internal meters.
Equipment Required
Calibrated 6 digit DVM.
A Frequency counter.
A Calibrated 100 Amp meter, or a four-terminal 100A current shunt, (preferably 2m) and a DVM.
The exact resistance of the shunt must be known, so the required DVM readings can be
calculated.
A low noise, low current adjustable supply (up to 5V) for remote input.
An adjustable high current power supply, or a number of units, capable of:
80 Amps at up to 4·5 Volts.
40 Amps at up to 6 Volts.
16 Amps at up to 10 Volts.
3 Amps at up to 16 Volts.
1 Amp at up to 80 Volts.
A scope with delayed timebase.
Preliminary
Connect: The rear panel External Sense inputs to the front panel Load Input terminals. The
Current monitor negative terminal to the Load Input negative (use the rear panel
terminal blocks, and the sense connection made above).
The Current Monitor Output to a scope.
Select: Sense slide switch (on rear panel) = External.
Input Enable Switch = out. Slow Start = out.
Mode = 80 Amp; Control = External Voltage.
Check the supply required (115 or 230V), and connect power. Switch on, check displays light and
both fans start.
Initial Settings
Select: Mode = 80 Amp; Control = External Voltage;
Slow Start = In; Enable = Out.
Slew Rate = Physical mid position.
Meters = Slew & Dropout. Dropout V = 5V.
Meters = Level A & B. Set the Level B control until the RH display reads 80.00.
Remote Input Offset
Connect: Short the rear panel remote control voltage inputs together and to Load Input
negative.
Connect the DVM to REMV (TP3-b) and 0v (TP3-d)
Adjust: VR31 for zero (< ±5µV) on DVM
Slew Buffer Offset
Connect: DVM to DMD (TP3-c) and 0v (TP3-d).
Adjust: VR10 for zero (< ±5µV) on DVM (DMD).
