Overview

This document serves as the user manual for the TWHEELS E-Bike City, an electric bicycle designed for daily short-distance commuting. It outlines important notes, product overview, technical specifications, adjustment instructions, riding precautions, and safety guidelines for the user.

Function Description:

The TWHEELS E-Bike City is an electric bicycle that provides pedal assistance, making it easier for riders to navigate urban environments. It is equipped with a motor and a battery to supplement human pedaling effort, offering various levels of assistance. The bike is intended for single-rider use and is not suitable for dangerous performances, competitions, or stunts. Its primary function is to facilitate convenient and efficient short-distance travel. The electric assistance system is activated after pedaling to 6 km/h, with different gears offering varying maximum speeds. Gear 1 provides a maximum speed of 15 km/h, Gear 2 up to 20 km/h, and Gear 3 up to 25 km/h.

Important Technical Specifications:

The TWHEELS E-Bike City is an electric bicycle with a grey color scheme. Its unit dimensions are 1950x 650x 1150mm, and the package dimensions are 1580x 240x 830mm. The bike features 700C*45C tires and has a maximum speed of 25 km/h, adhering to local regulations for electric bicycles. It can support a maximum load of 120 kg and offers a mileage of less than 100 km. The product's net weight is 21.5 kg, and its gross weight is 30.6 kg.

The electric range of the bike is 35-40 KM, while the assisting range extends to 65-75 KM. Charging time for the battery is between 4-6 hours. The motor provides a torque of 42 N.m and has a rated power of 36V/350V. For shock absorption, the bike utilizes a solid front fork.

In terms of hardware configuration, the body material is aluminum alloy. It is equipped with a Hall Brushless DC Motor and a carbon belt drive for transmission. A torque sensor is integrated into the system. The braking system consists of front and rear hydraulic disc brakes. The battery is a lithium battery with a capacity of 36V/9.6AH. The battery charger power is 42V/2A (CE/Safety certified). The bike features a 3.5 LCD display for performance monitoring. The fender is made of plastic, and the water-proof level is IPX5.

Usage Features:

The E-Bike City is designed for ease of use with several features to enhance the riding experience.

  • Display: The bike includes a 3.5 LCD display that provides essential information such as total mileage (ODO), miles since the ride (TRIP), average speed (AVG), current speed (CUR), battery power, and assist gear display. It also shows the time.
  • Power On/Off: The E-bike can be switched on/off by long-pressing the power key for 3 seconds.
  • Assist Gear Adjustment: Riders can increase or decrease the level of pedal assistance using "+" and "-" buttons, respectively. Higher gears provide faster speeds, while lower gears offer slower speeds. The PAS (Power Assist System) activates after reaching 6 km/h.
  • Battery Installation and Charging: The battery is integrated into the seat tube. To install, insert the battery into the seat tube and connect the battery cable, ensuring the seat tube lock is tightened. The battery switch must be turned on before riding. For charging, the battery can be taken out and charged separately, or the vehicle can be charged directly. A red light indicates normal charging, and a green light indicates charging completion.
  • Brake System: The bike features front and rear hydraulic disc brakes. The manual provides detailed instructions for adjusting the brake calliper space (1.5-3mm) and disc brake height to ensure optimal braking performance. The brake handle should be adjusted so that the brake rubber block tightens against the brake drum when the handle is positioned at 1/3 of its total travel.
  • Belt Adjustment: The carbon belt drive requires proper tension. This is adjusted by loosening fastening nuts on the rear axle and adjusting an inner nut to ensure the belt is tight enough to slide without noise. The rear wheel's center surface must align with the frame's center surface when tightening the fastening nuts.
  • Wheel Disassembly: Instructions are provided for both front and rear wheel disassembly. For the front wheel, fastening threads and nuts need to be loosened. For the rear wheel, the motor cable, rear axle nut, rear brake positioning nut, and brake cable must be disconnected, and the chain connector removed.

Maintenance Features:

The manual emphasizes several maintenance aspects to ensure the longevity and safe operation of the E-Bike City.

  • Regular Inspections: Before each ride, users are advised to inspect the power supply circuit, lighting circuit, brake device, handlebar, and wheels for any damage or looseness. This includes checking headlights, taillights, brake function, and the fastening status of axles and handlebars.
  • Tire Maintenance: Regular checks of tire inflation pressure, condition (cracks, abnormal wear), and for embedded objects (nails, stones, glass) are crucial. Tires should be replaced when they reach the tread wear mark.
  • Reflector Maintenance: The reflector device should be checked for presence and cleanliness before each use. It should not be blocked by luggage or other objects to avoid safety hazards.
  • Battery Care:
    • Initial Charge: The battery should be charged for 12 hours upon first use or after long-term storage.
    • Regular Charging: For normal use, charge the battery for 12 hours every two months. If not in use for a long time, disconnect the battery from the vehicle and replenish it every half a month.
    • Storage: Store the battery pack in a clean, dry, and ventilated place, away from children, fire, heat sources, and corrosive substances. The recommended storage temperature is -20-55°C, with ambient humidity of 65%RH. The operating temperature range for the battery is -10-45°C.
    • Safety Precautions: It is strictly prohibited to short-circuit the positive and negative terminals of the battery pack. The battery pack should be protected from water immersion.
  • Charger Safety:
    • Placement: Do not place items on the charger or put liquid/metal into it.
    • Disassembly: Do not disassemble or modify the charger.
    • Connection: When charging, connect the charger output to the battery pack first, then plug the AC power plug into the mains socket. Avoid plugging/unplugging with wet hands.
    • Environment: Do not use the charger during thunderstorms, or in unstable, overly dark, dusty, or excessively humid environments. Ensure good ventilation and heat dissipation.
    • Monitoring: Do not leave the charger connected to the power supply if the output is not connected to the battery pack. The indicator light turns red during charging and green when fully charged. Normal charging time is 3-10 hours (max 12 hours). Fast-charging stations are not allowed.
  • Cleaning: When cleaning the bicycle, avoid directly splashing water on the brake drum, motor, and front/rear axle to prevent damage. Do not use steam or high-pressure water pipes. After cleaning or riding in water, check the brake performance as it may decrease.
