I. INTRODUCTION
This manual provide s instruction for the maintenance and
overhaul of t he ConsheU S.E. and ConsheU S.E .S . Regulator
Series. Maintenance and overhau l procedures outlined
wl\hin this ma nual are to be performed by personnel
who completed U.S. Dive rs ® Aqua-Lu ng ® . maintenance
ins tru ction pr ogram and achiev ed certification as o
qualified repolr tech nic ian.

ill. GENERAL (PREVENTATIVE) MAINTENANCE

To consfs l ently achieve this goal. there are o number
of simple, but important. i:ouline maintenance procedures
that should be followed by the dive r ai\er ev ery use o[ the
equipmertt. They are not meant lo be Held repair ope rations,
and , f or youwho must advise th e customer, these r ecommen -
dations are intended as "Service Tips."

I. After each d ay of diving , t he r egulator must be
cleaned, inspected, and prep ared for the next
use or for storage .. As soon as the regulator is

emo ved from the SCUBA cylinder(s). install t he
dus t . cap (Item 26) o ver t he regu lator lirsl-s tag e
i
nlet port . This cap is normally attached to the
regulatot yoke (Ilem 22) and therefore hos be en
underwater. Blow all the water out of the cap first.
Failure to
do this results in water entering into the
first-stage, causing co rro sio n. Also make sure the
0 - ring ( It em 25) is faslde l he dust cap. In most
cas es , it also serves as a spare 0 -ring in ca se ol
damage to the 0-ring on the cy l inder valve . This
impo rtant soft seal shou ld be i ns p ected regula rly
and rep l aced if ii shows signs of wear or aging .

The first ( preferr ed) meth od Is t he " pre ssu riz ed' '
procedure:
a. Re m ove the dus t oap (Item 26). Attach the
regul ator loo c har ged SCUBA cyilnder .
b. Ope n the cylinder valve slowly lo pressurize
the r
eg ulat or .
c. Soak the regulator with fresh warm (not over
I 2QD F) lop w ater to remo ve s al t and mineral
deposits. directing water Into 1he mainspring
cavity of the first stage regulator (Item 12) and
into t he s econd stage mouthpie . ce (Item 39) . ·
Also de-press the purge button (ftem 4 7) [or a
few
seconds while water is in the second-
stoge. To r emo ve ex cess w ater . alter soaking
'Is co mplete , purge the second-s iege a few
more lime s.
