Why U.S. Divers Impulse second stage is leaking or freeflowing?
    • S
      Samantha VillarrealJul 28, 2025
Leakage or freeflow from the second stage of your U.S. Divers Controller can occur due to several reasons. It might be caused by high first-stage intermediate pressure, in which case you should refer to the first-stage troubleshooting guide. Other potential causes include a damaged or worn LP seat, which requires replacing the Poppet/LP seat assembly; an incorrectly adjusted crown or lever set too high, necessitating a crown reset and performance of final tuning and testing procedures; a damaged crown sealing surface, requiring crown replacement; or a damaged poppet spring, which also needs replacing.

What to do if U.S. Divers Impulse Controller has external air leakage?
    • S
      Steven SchneiderAug 5, 2025
If your U.S. Divers Controller has an external air leak, it could be due to a loose intermediate pressure hose, which should be tightened to 40 inch-lbs at the female second-stage fitting. Alternatively, a damaged crown O-ring or a damaged box bottom could be the cause. In both of these cases, you should disassemble the unit and replace the O-ring or the box bottom, respectively.

What to do if U.S. Divers Impulse Controller second-stage has low purge or excessive work of breathing?
    • M
      Melissa WaltonAug 13, 2025
If you experience low purge or excessive work of breathing with your U.S. Divers Controller, especially with a full cylinder, consider these potential causes: * Low intermediate pressure: Refer to the first-stage troubleshooting guide. * Lever not properly engaged with the Poppet/LP Seat Assembly: Disassemble and inspect the condition of the Poppet/LP Seat Assembly. * Crown incorrectly adjusted or lever set too low: Reset the crown and perform the final tuning and testing procedures. * Intermediate pressure hose clogged or obstructed: Clean or replace the hose. * Deflector clip installed incorrectly: Remove and reinstall the clip.
