This document describes the Uni Multi-channel DC Power Supply, including models PS-303DU, PS-305DU, PS-3010DU, PS-6005DU, PS-2303, and PS-2305. These TP series adjustable DC power supplies are designed for applications requiring precise and stable voltage and current, such as powering operational amplifiers, push-pull stages, logic circuits, and definition systems. They are particularly useful where multiple independent power supplies are needed within a single package.
Function Description
The instruments consist of two identical, independently adjustable DC power supplies and one fixed 5V/3A DC power supply. A front panel switch allows selection of three modes of operation: independent, series, and parallel.
- Independent Mode: In this mode, the output voltage and current of each supply are controlled separately. Each supply is isolated up to 300V from output to chassis or output to output.
- Tracking Modes (Series and Parallel): When in a tracking mode, both outputs are automatically connected in series or parallel, and the controls of the left (MASTER) supply adjust the magnitudes of both the positive and negative output voltages. Any internal disturbance in the master supply (such as drift or ripple) will cause an equal percentage change in the outputs of both supplies.
- Series Tracking: The positive terminal of the SLAVE supply output is internally connected to the negative terminal of the MASTER supply. This allows the unit to be used as a single 0 to double rating voltage supply. The maximum output voltage across the two supplies is double the displayed value on the MASTER LED display. Current through both supplies is equal.
- Parallel Tracking: Both MASTER and SLAVE supplies are wired together in parallel, providing a rating voltage supply with a double rating current capability. Only the MASTER output terminals are used, and both maximum current and voltage are set using the MASTER controls. The actual current output at the MASTER supply output jack is double the reading on the SLAVE indicator meter.
- Fixed 5V Power Supply: This provides a 5V DC output with a 3 amp current capacity, ideal for TTL circuits. An OVERLOAD indicator lights if too much load is placed on this supply.
Each power supply is a fully transistorized, well-regulated, constant voltage/constant current supply. It can furnish full rated output voltage at maximum output current or be continuously adjusted throughout the output range. The front panel current controls set the output current limit (for overload or short circuit protection) when used as a constant voltage source. The voltage controls establish the voltage limit (ceiling) when used as a constant current source (in independent mode only). The supply automatically crosses over between constant voltage and constant current operation if the output current or voltage exceeds preset limits. Each supply has its own front panel meter to measure output voltage and current.

Usage Features
- Output ON/OFF Key: This key allows cutting off or resuming the output. For models PS-2303/2305, it also provides an overcurrent protection function, preventing damage from unknown loads. This safety feature is particularly important for student use.
- Constant Voltage/Constant Current Automatic Crossover: The power supply automatically transitions between constant voltage and constant current modes based on the load. The "crossover point" is indicated by the front panel LED indicators (CV indicator off, CC indicator on).
- Setting Current Limit: Users can easily preset the maximum safe current for a device by temporarily shorting the output terminals (or using the output ON/OFF key for specific models) and adjusting the CURRENT control.
- Independent Operation: Both MASTER and SLAVE supplies can be used completely independently, with separate voltage and current controls.
- Series Tracking Operation: For higher voltage requirements, the supplies can be configured in series, effectively doubling the output voltage. The MASTER VOLTAGE controls adjust the combined output.
- Parallel Tracking Operation: For higher current requirements, the supplies can be configured in parallel, effectively doubling the output current. The MASTER controls adjust both voltage and current.
- Fixed 5V Power Supply: A dedicated 5V/3A output is available for specific applications like TTL circuits.
Maintenance Features
- Fuse Replacement: The fuse is located on the rear panel. If the fuse blows, it should be replaced only with a specified type and rating (250V). Users are warned to disconnect the power cord before replacing the fuse and to ensure the correct fuse rating and type are used to protect the transformer and circuits.
- Fuse Ratings (220VAC / 110VAC):
- PS-303DU: TSD3.15A / TSD6.3A
- PS-2303: TSD3.15A / TSD6.3A
- PS-305DU: TSD6.3A / TSD10A
- PS-2305: TSD6.3A / TSD10A
- PS-3010DU: TSD10A / TSD10A
- PS-6005DU: TSD10A / TSD10A
- Line Voltage Conversion: The power transformer's primary winding is tapped for operation at 110V or 220V AC. Conversion involves unplugging the power cord, changing the AC select switch on the rear panel to the desired voltage position, and potentially changing the fuse to the correct value as listed.
- Cleaning: The power supply should be cleaned with a soft cloth dampened in a mild detergent and water. Direct spraying of cleaner, or the use of chemicals like benzene, toluene, xylene, acetone, or abrasive cleaners, is prohibited to prevent damage.
- Troubleshooting: If problems cannot be solved, users are advised to contact their local distributor or the manufacturer.
- Safety Precautions: The manual emphasizes connecting the power cord's protective grounding conductor to ground to avoid electrical shock. It also warns against using the supply in ambient temperatures exceeding 40°C and highlights that voltages over 60V DC are a lethal shock hazard. Users are advised to operate the instrument under rated main supply and to use 60-70% of full load for prolonged operation to avoid rapid aging. Frequent short-circuit operations should be avoided. Before adding a load, the voltage knob should be adjusted to the minimum value, then the instrument turned on, and finally, the voltage/current adjusted to targeted values.
