V-Gear® Professional Li-ion Battery Charger
Function Description:
The V-Gear® Professional Li-ion Battery Charger is designed to recharge V-Gear® Professional Camera Batteries and other compatible Li-ion V-Lock batteries from various manufacturers. It ensures proper charging by adhering to strict voltage and current requirements for Li-ion batteries.
Important Technical Specifications:
The document details approximate charge times for various V-Gear® battery models (VG-95S, VG-130S, VG-160S, VG-190S, VG-240S) across three charger types: VG-T1D, VG-2KS, and VG-4KS. These times are based on a fully discharged battery. For example, a VG-190S (14.8V, 1140g, 13Ah, 190Wh) takes approximately 7.8 hours with the VG-T1D, 7.2 hours with the VG-2KS, and 6.8 hours with the VG-4KS.
Usage Features:
V-Gear® VG-2KS 2-channel charger:
- Connection: Connects to an AC power source. When idle (no battery connected), LED indicators glow "green."
- Charging Process: When a Li-ion battery (e.g., VG-190S) is connected and its charge is low, the charger automatically enters constant current charging mode, indicated by a "red" LED.
- Charge Status: At 85% charge, the LED turns "green." Upon completion of the charge cycle, the unit switches to "float" mode, reducing the charge current to approximately 50mA. The LED then turns off, indicating a full charge.
- Power Output (UPS Function): The VG-2KS can power cameras, lights, and accessories up to 75 watts from mains power using the optional VG-DCCABLE. This cable automatically switches the unit from "Charger-mode" to "DC-Output" mode. If batteries are attached, the unit provides DC power from the mains. If AC mains are disconnected, it switches to "UPS mode," maintaining DC output by drawing power from the attached batteries.
V-Gear® VG-T1A/T1D Single-channel Travel Charger:
- Connection: Connects to an AC power source. When idle, the LED indicator is "green."
- Charging Process: When a Li-ion battery (e.g., VG-190S) is connected and its charge is low, the charger automatically enters constant current charging mode, indicated by a "red" LED.
- Charge Status: Upon completion of the charge cycle, the unit switches to "float" mode, reducing the charge current to approximately 50mA. The LED then indicates "green," signifying a full charge.
Error Indicators:
The charger is designed to indicate various error conditions:
- Flashing Red and Green LED: Indicates a problem with the battery or a possible shorted cell within the battery pack.
- Red to Green LED (sudden change): May indicate an open-circuit cell within the battery pack.
In either case, it is recommended to have the battery pack checked by a dealer.
Maintenance Features:
To maximize the battery's useful life, V-Gear® recommends:
- Immediate Charging: Fully charge your V-Gear® battery as soon as practicable after use. Leaving batteries in a fully discharged state for extended periods can reduce storage capacity and is not covered under warranty.
- Avoid Short-Circuits: Prevent short-circuits on the base terminals or the D-Tap connector.
- Avoid Physical Impact: Protect the battery from violent impacts, such as dropping it on hard surfaces.
- Proper Storage: Store the battery in a cool, dry environment. Zip-Lock plastic bags are ideal for medium to long-term storage. Keep batteries away from moisture, heat, fire, and other sources of heat.
Safety Warning:
- Improper use of the charger or charging non-Li-ion batteries will void the warranty and can cause serious damage to the charger and/or battery packs.
- Always disconnect the charger from the mains supply when not in use.
- Do not attempt to disassemble the device; it contains no user-serviceable parts and should only be serviced by trained personnel.
