Overview

This document provides operating instructions for the V-ZUG CookTop V4000 A604, A604B, and A704 Toptronic hobs, offering guidance on their use, maintenance, and safety.

The CookTop V4000 series hobs are designed for domestic use to prepare food. They feature a glass ceramic surface with radiant cooking zones. The A604 model includes one dual-ring cooking zone (Ø175/210 mm), one Ø180 mm cooking zone, and two Ø140 mm cooking zones. The A604B model offers one frying zone (Ø170×265 mm), one dual-ring cooking zone (Ø175/210 mm), one Ø180 mm cooking zone, and one Ø140 mm cooking zone. The A704 model features one dual-ring cooking zone (Ø140/210 mm), two Ø180 mm cooking zones, and one Ø140 mm cooking zone.

Function Description:

The hobs are operated via a touch control panel with various buttons and a slider. The main functions include:

  • Switching On/Off: The appliance is switched on by pressing the ON/OFF button for 1 second. If no further input is made, it automatically switches off after about 10 seconds for safety. To switch off, simply touch the ON/OFF button.
  • Cooking Zone Selection: To select a cooking zone, press its corresponding button. A "0" will flash in the power level display, and a selection indicator will illuminate. The power level is then set using the slider. Settings can only be changed when the selection indicator is illuminated.
  • Power Levels: The hobs offer nine power levels, ranging from gentle warming (level 1) for butter, chocolate, and sauces, to flash frying and fast heating (level 9) for steaks and boiling water. Intermediate levels are suitable for swelling (level 3, e.g., rice), continuous cooking (levels 4-6 for vegetables, pasta, soup), and gentle frying (level 7 for Rösti, omelettes).
  • Dual Ring/Frying Zone Operation: For models with dual-ring or frying zones, only the inner zone activates initially. The outer ring or additional heating element can be switched on by selecting the zone, pressing the corresponding button on the slider, and then pressing it again. Power level 9 is automatically set, which can then be adjusted. To switch off the outer ring, follow a similar process, pressing the slider button twice.
  • Automatic Boost: All cooking zones are equipped with an automatic boost function, which heats the zone at power level 9 for a set duration before automatically returning to the previously selected power level. The boost times vary depending on the initial power level selected (e.g., 1 minute for level 1, up to 8 minutes 30 seconds for level 5). To activate, select the zone, then press the desired power level on the slider for 3 seconds.
  • Operating Time (Timer for Cooking Zones): This function allows a cooking zone to switch off automatically after a set time (1-99 minutes). To set, select the cooking zone, touch the timer button, and use the slider to adjust the duration. The timer starts 10 seconds after the last button press. If multiple operating times are set, the shortest remaining time is displayed.
  • Timer (Egg Timer): A separate timer function (1-99 minutes) can be set independently, even when a cooking zone is in operation. However, an operating time cannot be set simultaneously with the egg timer for the same zone.
  • Childproof Lock: This feature prevents accidental activation of the appliance. It can be switched on by pressing the Pause and Wipe Protection buttons simultaneously, then the Pause button again. When activated, the appliance can still be used by overriding the lock (pressing Pause and Wipe Protection buttons simultaneously), but it reactivates 1 minute after the hob is switched off. The lock can be permanently switched off by following a similar sequence.
  • Restore Function: If the appliance is inadvertently switched off, settings can be restored within 6 seconds by switching it back on and pressing the Pause button.
  • Wipe Protection: This function temporarily locks the control panel to prevent accidental changes to settings while cleaning. It is activated by pressing the Wipe Protection button and automatically deactivates after 30 seconds or by pressing the button again.
  • Acoustic Signal: The appliance emits acoustic signals for various actions, such as switching on/off, end of operating time, and error tones. The button tone can be switched on or off through a specific sequence involving the Pause and Wipe Protection buttons and the slider.

Usage Features:

  • Cookware: Use cookware with a stable, flat bottom that lies flat on the cooking zone surface. Metal cookware is preferred for faster and more even heat distribution compared to glass or ceramic. Avoid cookware with pure copper or aluminum bases, as they can leave difficult-to-remove marks.
  • Energy Efficiency: To maximize energy efficiency, ensure cookware bases are clean, dry, and smooth, center cookware on the cooking zone, and use a well-fitting lid. Match cookware diameter to the food quantity.
  • OptiGlass (for specific models): Hobs with OptiGlass have an additional coating that makes the glass surface harder, tougher, and more scratch-resistant. Halogen or LED light bulbs are recommended for illumination, as fluorescent tube lighting can cause the glass surface to shimmer.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning: The appliance should ideally be cleaned when completely cooled down to prevent burns. Regular cleaning after each use prevents food residue from burning on.
  • Cleaning Agents: Avoid abrasive cleaning agents, scouring pads, or wire wool, as these can damage the glass ceramic surface. Use only a soft cloth or sponge with water and standard washing-up liquid for everyday soiling. For OptiGlass and standard glass ceramic, use only recommended cleaning agents and methods.
  • Stubborn Soiling: For stubborn residue like boiled-over milk, melted plastic, or sugary foods/juices, use a glass ceramic hob scraper while the surface is still warm. Immediately remove sugary foods/juices to prevent permanent damage.
  • Limescale Stains: Limescale stains can be removed when the hob is cool using a small amount of mild vinegar cleaner or lemon juice, then wiped clean with a damp cloth.
  • Thorough Cleaning: For thorough cleaning, first remove most soiling with a hob scraper or a special cleaning sponge. Then, apply a few drops of a suitable cleaning agent to the cold hob surface and rub with a kitchen towel or clean cloth. Finish by wiping with a wet cloth and polishing with a dry cloth or soft cleaning sponge.
