Why does my VALCO MELTON DD-1 run without flow?

  Your VALCO MELTON Water Pump might run without flow due to several reasons: suction leakage (test and repair suction components), a blocked suction line (check and clean the suction strainer if used and check the installation), one or more check valves not seating (shut the pump down and service the check valves), diaphragm failure (replace the diaphragm if necessary), or the pump sucking in air (check all fittings and use pipe sealant to seal the fittings).

  Unsteady fluid flow in your VALCO MELTON Water Pump can be caused by suction leakage, check and repair suction components. Another cause may be one or more check valves not seating correctly, shut pump down and service the check valves. Diaphragm failure can also cause this issue; check the 3-way exhaust for contamination with pumped fluid to determine which diaphragm has failed, then replace the diaphragm(s).

  If your VALCO MELTON Water Pump speeds up noticeably without a proportionate increase in flow as air pressure is increased, the pump may be beginning to cavitate due to excessive restriction in suction lines or insufficient suction-line diameter. If the suction line checks out for size and tightness, cavitation can be stopped by turning the regulator knob counterclockwise to reduce air pressure.
