HOW TO INSTALL VALIRYO BODY DRYER IN NORTH AMERICA
This document is a user guide. It does not explain how to do the installation by a
user, since the electrical installation must be done by a specialized professional.
All electrical installations must be carried out under the conditions set by the
NEC.
Introduction
Most appliances in North America must to be connected to 110 120 V. That limitates the
power of the appliances to approximately 1700 W.
This power is not enough for several domestic appliances and the connection to the power
must be different.
Valiryo is rated with 2800 W power. It must be connected to 220 240 V.
Installation requirements
In order to have an installation as secure as possible, the installation must follow the
requirements of NEC.
- 240 V outlet with GFCI installed
- you need to connect Valiryo to your home´s electrical network permanently. We
advice you to contact a professional installer. In USA is common to have a 240 V outlet
in every home, so you just need to look for it and connect Valiryo to this electrical grid.
- Usually, electrical power in North America is supplied with three wires.
o Black wire: +120 V hot wire
o Red wire: -120 V hot wire
o White wire: 0 V neutral
The connection has to be done between the two hot wires.

Overview

This document provides a user guide for installing the Valiryo Body Dryer in North America, emphasizing that electrical installation must be performed by a specialized professional in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements.

The Valiryo Body Dryer is designed to provide a full-body drying experience, offering an alternative to towel drying. Its primary function is to deliver warm air to dry the user's body after showering or bathing. This device is particularly designed for use in North America, where specific electrical requirements differ from other regions.

Usage Features:

The Valiryo Body Dryer operates at a power of 2800 W, which necessitates a 220-240 V electrical connection. This is a crucial distinction from most standard North American appliances, which typically connect to 110-120 V and have a power limit of approximately 1700 W. The higher power rating of the Valiryo allows for efficient and effective body drying.

For safe and proper operation, the Valiryo must be connected to a 240 V outlet with a Ground-Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) installed. While 240 V outlets are common in North American homes, it is recommended to consult a professional installer to ensure the correct and secure connection to the home's electrical network.

North American electrical power is typically supplied with three wires: a black wire (+120 V hot), a red wire (-120 V hot), and a white wire (0 V neutral). The Valiryo Body Dryer requires connection between the two hot wires (black and red) to achieve the necessary 240 V. The white neutral wire from the home network should not be connected to the Valiryo. The Valiryo's wiring consists of two wires for connection to the hot lines and one wire that should be connected to the white (neutral) line from the home network.

The installation process involves several steps to ensure safe and compliant operation:

  1. Circuit Breaker Installation: A 240 V circuit breaker must be installed in the main circuit panel.
  2. Wiring Connections: Before making any connections, the main circuit breaker should be turned off. The two hot wires from the home network are then connected to the new 240 V breaker. After connections are made, the panel cover is reinstalled, ensuring the new breaker remains off before the main breaker is turned back on.
  3. Cable Routing: The sheathed cable for the Valiryo must be run to its intended installation location.
  4. Device Connection: The Valiryo's cable is connected to the routed cable. This connection can be made in a new receptacle box. It is critical to note that this receptacle box cannot be installed within the shower space itself. It must be located in a false ceiling, another room, or outside the shower space, strictly adhering to NEC requirements to prevent electrical hazards in a wet environment.
  5. Power Activation and Testing: Once all connections are secure and compliant, the new breaker can be turned on. The final step is to check that the Valiryo Body Dryer operates properly.

Maintenance Features:

While the document primarily focuses on installation, the emphasis on professional installation and adherence to NEC requirements indirectly contributes to the long-term maintenance and safe operation of the device. Proper initial installation by a specialized professional minimizes the risk of electrical issues, which could otherwise lead to device malfunction or safety hazards.

The use of a GFCI-protected 240 V outlet is a key safety feature that also contributes to maintenance by protecting the device and the user from ground faults. A GFCI will trip and cut power if it detects an imbalance in the electrical current, preventing potential damage to the Valiryo and reducing the risk of electric shock, especially in a bathroom environment.

The requirement to install the receptacle box outside the shower space is another critical safety and maintenance consideration. This prevents the electrical connections from being exposed to direct water spray or high humidity, which could lead to corrosion, short circuits, or other electrical failures over time. By keeping the electrical connections in a drier environment, the longevity and reliability of the Valiryo's electrical system are enhanced.

Regular checks by a qualified electrician, especially if any operational anomalies are observed, would be a recommended maintenance practice, though not explicitly detailed in this user guide. Given the device's high power rating and its use in a potentially wet environment, ensuring the integrity of its electrical connections and components is paramount for continued safe and effective operation.

In summary, the Valiryo Body Dryer offers a powerful and efficient drying solution for North American users, designed with specific electrical requirements that necessitate professional installation to ensure safety and compliance with local codes. Its design and installation guidelines prioritize user safety and device longevity through robust electrical connections and strategic placement away from direct water exposure.
