Overview

This document is the owner's manual for the Vamoose FS Super Odin electric cycle, model year 2022.V01. Vamoose Electric Cycle Ltd. aims to provide well-designed and well-priced electric cycles using quality brand components, inspiring people to enjoy the outdoors year-round.

Function Description:

The Vamoose FS Super Odin is a power-assist electric cycle designed for recreational use. It features both pedal-assist (PAS) and throttle control, allowing riders to choose between motor assistance and purely pedal-powered riding. The cycle is equipped with rear motor propulsion and a 7-speed gearing system to handle various terrains, from uphill climbs to level and downhill grades. The PAS system offers 5 levels of assistance, with level 5 providing the most support. A display unit provides information such as battery status, current speed, and odometer readings. The cycle includes a headlight for visibility and a kickstand for convenience.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Model: FS Super Odin
  • Model Year: 2022.V01
  • Battery: Lithium-ion (Samsung Li-Ion)
    • Capacity (Standard): 48V 15.6Ah (748 Amp Hrs)
    • Charging Time (Fully Discharged): Approximately 4-5 hours (with 2-3A charger); faster with more powerful chargers (e.g., 5A).
    • Recommended First Charge: 6-8 hours for optimum performance.
    • Operating Temperature: -10°C to +35°C (14°F to 95°F)
    • Storage Temperature: Above 10°C (50°F), never below 0°C (32°F).
    • Charging Cycles: Up to 800.
  • Motor: Rear motor propulsion.
  • Speed: Max speed of about 32 km/h (20 mph) with full throttle.
  • Gearing: 7 speeds, with a rear cassette featuring seven sprockets.
  • Brakes: Hydraulic disc brakes (front and rear).
  • Suspension: Front suspension fork and rear air suspension (max 180 psi).
  • Tires: Fat tires (specific dimensions not provided, but tire pressure is critical).
  • Maximum Load: The permitted maximum load of the cycle cannot be exceeded at any time.

Usage Features:

  • Power On/Off: The electrical system is turned on by pressing and holding the power button (Item 4 on the control unit). The system can be turned off by pressing the power button again.
  • Sleep Mode: The cycle is equipped with a 5-minute sleep mode to conserve battery if no activity is detected. To restart, press and hold the power switch.
  • Pedal Assist System (PAS): Engaged via the left-hand control unit, offering 5 levels of power articulation. PAS is active when pedals are in forward motion, detected by a cadence sensor on the bottom bracket spindle.
  • Throttle Control: A hand throttle provides motor power, overriding pedal assistance. Twisting the throttle increases motor power, accelerating the cycle up to its full speed.
  • Walking Mode: Pressing and holding the "-" button on the control unit engages walking mode at approximately 6 km/h.
  • Headlight: Activated by a double press of the power button.
  • Display: Intuitive display showing battery status, current speed (MPH/Km/h), pedal assist level (Assist), and odometer (Distance).
  • Keys: Used to lock the battery into place. Keys should be removed and the battery firmly locked during riding.
  • Trailer Compatibility: The cycle can pull a trailer, but additional practice is recommended, especially with heavy loads, as it can affect braking power, stopping distance, acceleration, and top speeds.
  • Rack Compatibility: Can be placed on a cycle rack, provided the rack can hold the Vamoose's weight. Removing the battery is advised for easier lifting and battery safety.
  • Water Resistance: All Vamoose cycles are splash-proof but not waterproof. Avoid putting the cycle in water deeper than 7 inches and ensure the controller does not get wet.

Maintenance Features:

  • Assembly: Assembly should ideally be done by a professional cycle mechanic. The manual provides instructions for installing handlebars, headlight, front wheel, pedals, and seat post.
  • Torque Specifications: Recommended torque values are provided for various components (e.g., Seat Post: 16 N.m, Handle Bars: 6 N.m, Pedals: 50 N.m, Axle Hubs: 50 N.m).
  • Pre-Ride Safety Inspection: A comprehensive check is recommended before each ride, covering:
    • Wheels: Condition of tires (tread, punctures, cracks, deformations), spoke tightness, tire pressure (as indicated on sidewall), and wheel trueness.
    • Battery: Operating condition, charge status, secure insertion, and locking.
    • Brakes System: Proper working condition, wear, and lever position. Ensure both front and rear brakes are applied evenly.
    • Lighting: Proper functioning of front and rear lights.
    • Display: Functionality and operation.
    • Cables: Loose cables, proper connections, and secure wiring on the frame.
    • Kickstand: Tightness and clearance from ground/tires.
    • Steering: Handlebar and stem adjustment, tightness, and headset locking mechanism.
    • Chain, Pedals, Cranks & Bearing: Chain lubrication, pedal tightness, and bearing checks.
    • Frame and Fork: Check for bends or breaks.
    • Motor Drive Assembly and Throttle: Correct mounting and functioning.
  • Brake Bedding-In Procedure: Required before the first ride to ensure consistent and smooth braking. Involves repeated moderate and faster speed braking to walking speed, allowing brake pads to transfer residue evenly onto the rotor surface.
  • Regular Service: Vamoose Electric Cycles must be inspected and serviced by a qualified cycle mechanic every 150 kilometers of riding, especially for new cycles during the initial breaking-in period.
  • Spokes: Proper maintenance and tensioning at each mechanical service.
  • Front Suspension Fork: Preset from the factory, but adjustments (SAG between 15% and 30% of max travel) should be made by a professional cycle mechanic.
  • Gears: Fine-tuning adjustments should only be made by a qualified technician. Change gears only while pedaling and avoid rapid changes.
  • Battery Care:
    • Store with 50%-100% charge if not used for a long time.
    • Charge at least every 60 days.
    • Disconnect charger once charging is complete.
    • Do not use the battery below 10% capacity.
    • Avoid extreme temperatures and direct sunlight during charging.
    • Recharge before complete discharge to maximize lifespan.
    • Recycle old batteries at a local recycling center.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual includes a table of common issues, descriptions, and solutions (e.g., low battery voltage, loose connections, damaged controller). Quick disconnect fittings (Right-hand Throttle - Yellow, Left Brake Lever - Red, Right Brake Lever - Red, Motor - Black 9 Pin, CDC6 Display) should be checked if the cycle is not working.
  • Warranty: A limited warranty is provided, conditional upon proper handling, maintenance, and storage as per the manual. Negligence or non-compliance voids the warranty.
