WARNING!!!!!
Be advised that the Magnetic Tumble Stirrer has very strong magnetic fields coming
from a 48 MGO Neodymium Iron Boron drive magnet.
People with pacemakers should not get closer than 24 inches.
Remove all magnetic influenced tools and objects from the immediate area to prevent
them from being pulled onto the magnet or from striking anyone as the objects are
pulled towards the magnet.
Keep credit cards, watches, and other magnetic sensitive items at least 24 inches from
the Magnetic Tumble Stirrer’s magnetic fields.
Do not operate the Magnetic Tumble Stirrer in the close proximity to large pieces of
aluminum or ferromagnetic material. For more information see TUMBLE STIRRER

Overview

The V&P Scientific, Inc. VP 710C5 Series Alligator Tumble Stirrer is a laboratory instrument designed for efficient and controlled stirring of various materials. Its primary function is to create a tumbling motion, which is particularly effective for applications such as stirring microbial cultures, resolubilizing extracts, and stirring in deep well microplates. The device utilizes a powerful magnetic field generated by a 48 MGO Neodymium Iron Boron drive magnet to achieve this stirring action.

Technical Specifications:

  • Model Series: VP 710C5
  • US Patent: # 6,176,609
  • Drive Magnet: 48 MGO Neodymium Iron Boron
  • Maximum Speed (No Load): 1500 RPM
  • Recommended Speed (with substantial magnetic resistance/aluminum): No more than 750 RPM
  • Typical Tumble Stirring Applications Speed: 300 – 500 RPM
  • Motor Type: Powerful servo motor
  • Equipment Rating: 115/230V~, 1.6A, 60/50 Hz
  • Ambient Humidity: 0-95% (non-condensing)
  • Ambient Temperature: 0-70°C
  • Deck Material: ABS

Usage Features:

The Tumble Stirrer system consists of two main components: a Control Unit and the Tumble Stirrer itself.

  • Control Unit: This unit houses the power supply, an ON/OFF power switch, a speed control knob, and an LCD display with an RPM meter. It also includes connection ports for the power cable and the stirrer connection cable, as well as a USB port (for factory purposes).
  • Speed Control: The speed control knob allows users to precisely adjust the stirring speed. The LCD display provides a true RPM reading, enabling accurate monitoring of the stirring process. The controller is programmed to compensate for magnetic resistance by increasing power to maintain the set RPM.
  • Connection: The Tumble Stirrer connects to the Control Unit via a connection cable (two plugs, one blue and one black) that transfers power. The power cord connects the Control Unit to an appropriate power outlet.
  • Application Versatility: The device is suitable for a wide range of applications, from low-speed stirring of microbial cultures to high-speed stirring for resolubilizing extracts or in deep well microplates. The optimal operating speed is application-dependent and should be empirically determined.
  • Safety Features: The Tumble Stirrer is equipped with a safety mechanism that turns the unit off if the motor temperature exceeds 135°C, preventing damage from overheating.

Maintenance Features:

  • General Care: When not in use, the power switch should be turned off.
  • Cleaning: The deck of the Tumble Stirrer, made of ABS, can be cleaned using a mild detergent and then wiped dry. It is crucial not to submerge any part of the Tumble Stirrer into liquids.
  • Motor Longevity: The powerful servo motor is designed for high torque and long-term stirring applications. However, repeated overheating can reduce product longevity. If the unit turns off due to overheating, the power supply should be turned off, and the motor allowed to cool before restarting. Operating speed parameters should be modified to prevent future overheating.

Important Safety Precautions:

Due to the very strong magnetic fields generated by the 48 MGO Neodymium Iron Boron drive magnet:

  • Pacemakers: Individuals with pacemakers must maintain a distance of at least 24 inches from the device.
  • Magnetic Objects: All magnetic-influenced tools and objects should be removed from the immediate area to prevent them from being pulled onto the magnet or striking anyone.
  • Sensitive Items: Credit cards, watches, and other magnetic-sensitive items should be kept at least 24 inches away from the Magnetic Tumble Stirrer's magnetic fields.
  • Proximity to Materials: Operating the Magnetic Tumble Stirrer in close proximity to large pieces of aluminum or ferromagnetic material is not recommended. Ferromagnetic materials will cause significant magnetic resistance, while large/thick aluminum structures will cause drag due to eddy currents, leading to increased strain on the motor and potential overheating. If operating near these materials is unavoidable, test run parameters without supervision and modify operating speeds to prevent overheating.

V&P Scientific, Inc. assumes no liability for the customer's failure to comply with safety requirements and practices. The product comes with a one-year warranty covering defects in material and workmanship under normal laboratory conditions, starting from the date of delivery. Damage caused by user negligence is not covered. Customers are advised to keep the special shipping carton for potential returns.
