This document serves as the user manual for the POWERPLUS BRUSH CUTTER 42.7CC, model POWEG8010.

Function Description

The brush cutter is designed for private use, primarily for mowing lawns or pastures, trimming scrub, shrubs, bushes, and very small trees. It can be used with different cutting tools depending on the task. The device is not intended for other purposes, and any modification or use outside its intended scope will void the manufacturer's liability. Users are strongly advised to read the manual and general safety instructions carefully before operation.

Important Technical Specifications

The POWEG8010 is an air-cooled 2-stroke engine with a cylinder content of 42.7 CC. It delivers a power output of 1.25 kW. The fuel tank has a capacity of 950 ml.

When used with the threading head, the mowing width is 430 mm, and it uses a wire with a diameter of 2 mm. The cutting width with the knife attachment is 255 mm. The rotation speed for the grass trimmer is 8000 min-1, and for the brush cutter, it is 8500 min-1. The recommended spark plug is a BOSCH L7T.

Noise emission values are measured according to relevant standards:

  • Acoustic pressure level LpA: 86 dB(A) (K=3)
  • Acoustic power level LwA: 110 dB(A) Users are advised to wear hearing protection when sound pressure exceeds 85 dB(A).

The vibration value (aw) is 7.5 m/s² with a K value of 1.5 m/s².

Usage Features

Safety First:

  • Always wear sturdy shoes with anti-skid soles, approved hearing protection, safety glasses, and good, sturdy gloves.
  • Maintain a minimum distance of 15m from the machine for third parties.
  • Be aware of particles generated by the cutting installation.
  • Fire hazard warning: Gasoline and vapors are highly flammable.
  • Exhaust fumes are toxic and can cause suffocation.
  • The blade can recoil violently from material it cannot cut, posing a risk of injury. Keep people and animals 15 meters away.
  • Always inspect the trimmer and attachments before use.
  • The blade coasts after the throttle is released; ensure it has stopped before servicing.
  • Never operate the unit without a silencer and properly installed silencer shield.
  • Avoid operating the unit in awkward positions or with one hand; always use two hands with thumbs and fingers encircling the handles.
  • Do not raise the string head above ground level while operating.
  • Do not operate the unit for prolonged periods; rest periodically.
  • Do not operate under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
  • Ensure the debris shield and/or guard is installed and in good condition.
  • Only use original cutting components; metal wire instead of plastic string is forbidden.

Fuel and Lubrication:

  • Use unleaded gasoline mixed with 2-cycle engine oil in a 40:1 ratio.
  • Never use pure gasoline; it will permanently damage the engine and void the warranty.
  • Do not use fuel mixtures stored for more than 90 days.
  • Only use first-class 2-cycle oil mixed at 40:1. Insufficient lubrication voids warranty claims.
  • Mix oil into the fuel tank first, then add gasoline, and shake the tank properly for a good mixture.
  • Never refuel indoors, near naked flames, or while the engine is running. Allow exhaust components to cool.
  • If fuel is spilt, move the machine away from the spillage area before starting.
  • Always replace and securely tighten the fuel cap after refueling.
  • Drain the tank outdoors.

Assembly:

  • Two-handed fork handle: Loosen screws, place the handle, and re-tighten. Ensure it's properly mounted to prevent injury.
  • Protective cover: Assemble as per Fig. 1, ensuring bolts are tightened.
  • Trimmer mounting: Attach part (B) to the output axle of part (C), then screw spool (A) into the output axle and tighten manually.
  • Cutting blade mounting: Fit the upper plate (E) to the output axle. Align holes in the upper plate and gear housing (G), insert a lock pin. Place the blade (D), low plate (C), and plate housing (B) on the output shaft. Fit the nut (A) and tighten with the socket spanner in the direction opposite to rotation (left-hand thread). Always wear work gloves to avoid cutting injuries. Only use undamaged, untwisted metal cutting blades. The cutting blade's drill hole diameter must exactly match the turntable diameter.
  • Debris shield: Fasten the cord cutter (A) to the shield (C) with a ST3.5x12 screw. Attach the shield extension (B) to the shield bottom.
  • Harness adjustment: The harness has an easily accessible quick-release latch. Pull the red strap to release hip and shoulder straps. Adjust the length so the blade is parallel to the ground in the working position, ensuring no slack.

Engine Starting:

  • Cold engine:
    • Cut the cutting string to 13 cm to avoid overload.
    • Place the unit on a firm, flat surface, ensuring cutting components don't touch anything.
    • Set the on/off stop control (7) to "ON".
    • Press the primer bulb (19) 7-10 times until air bubbles are out.
    • Shift the choke lever (13) to the "N" position.
    • Pull the starter rope grip a few times until the engine starts.
    • Keep running until the motor is warm.
    • Move the choke lever to the half-open position.
    • Apply full gas, let the engine run for 10 seconds to heat up. Briefly push the gas lever (9) to idle.
    • Move the choke lever (13) to the "I" position.
    • If the engine doesn't start after two attempts, try without choke. If still no start, the engine is "flooded" (refer to troubleshooting).
  • Hot engine: Start without choke, similar to a cold engine but with the starting position around half-way open.

Engine Shutdown:

  • Release the gas lever (9).
  • Turn off ignition by pressing the on/off stop control (7).
  • The cutting attachment will continue spinning for a few seconds after shutdown.

Operating Instructions:

  • Keep cutting components away from body parts during starting and operation.
  • Regularly remove dirt from the protective cover, cutting attachment, and cutting device (engine off).
  • Spring spindle work: Hold the cutting attachment close to the ground, swinging slowly. Cut long grass from top downwards. Proceed slowly around trees, fence posts, or other obstacles. Avoid contact with solid items.
  • Cutting string extension: The unit has an automatic tapping dual string mechanism. Tap the ground with the cutting attachment to extend strings. If strings are initially longer than the cutting diameter, the line cutting blade will adjust their length. Regularly remove dirt from the line cutting blade. If extension fails, turn off, insert spindle properly, and pull string end. If still no string, change the spindle.
  • Metal cutting blade work: Always wear the belt and suitable work clothes. Ensure the blade is properly mounted. Use on free, flat surfaces. Remove foreign objects. Avoid contact with stones, metal, or other obstacles to prevent damage and kicking. Hold the cutting attachment close to the ground, moving it like a scythe. Do not hold at an angle or lift above ground. Do not use for cutting shrubs, brushwood, or underwood.

Maintenance Features

General Maintenance:

  • Any repair and maintenance work not described in the manual should be carried out by a professional service shop using original replacement parts.
