Do you have a question about the Vaude SHUTTLE BASE and is the answer not in the manual?
The VAUDESport Shuttle Base is a child carrier designed for children who can sit up independently, are at least 12 months old, weigh a maximum of 18 kg, and are no taller than 105 cm. It is suitable for leisure activities but not for sports.
The carrier features an integrated sun/weather protection (optional, Item No. 11903) and a removable cover with frog embroidery (optional, Item No. 11861). It includes a child safety strap (1), an insertion tube for the sun canopy (2), and side straps (3) to bring the child's weight closer to the adult's center of gravity. A front pocket with a zipper (4) and a bottom compartment (5) provide storage. Shoulder straps (6), load positioning straps (7), and hip strap (11) ensure comfortable carrying. The height of the child's seat (9) and the length of the back carrying system (10) are adjustable. Foot loops (12) and a chest strap (15) are also included. A fold-out support base (14) provides stability when the carrier is on the ground.
Before the first trip, it is recommended to adjust the back system without the child in the carrier. For optimal comfort, the carrier's back length should be correctly adjusted. To adjust the length of the back, release the clamp buckle of the shoulder strap attachment (10). To shorten the back length, press the shoulder strap attachment down. To lengthen it, pull the shoulder strap attachment up. The shoulder strap anchor point should ideally be positioned between the shoulder blades. The shoulder padding should fit comfortably around the shoulders (A2).
To adjust the carrying system, open the hip strap (11), the load positioning straps (7), and shoulder straps (6). Put on the carrier. Close the hip strap and pull it tight. The hip strap should be positioned on top of the pelvis. Pull the shoulder straps tight and close the chest strap (15). Now, tighten the load positioning straps. The carrier will lift off the shoulder area at the back, and thus be less of a load (A3). It is important that the back length is adjusted properly beforehand. If the correct length is not found immediately, repeat the process until it is achieved.
Once the carrier is prepared and locked into position, adjust the height of the seat using the height adjustment mechanism (9). It is advisable to first use visual judgment to adjust the height. To raise the seat (for smaller children), loosen the bottom slide buckle (B3) and tighten the upper slide buckle until the desired height is reached. Then, tighten the bottom slide buckle. To lower the seat (for bigger children), do the same in reverse order. The seat height should be adjusted so that the child's feet can move freely and look around.
To prepare the carrier, first fold out the support base until it locks into place (B1). Place the carrier on the floor facing you. Loosen the side straps (3) and both straps of the child safety strap evenly (1). Adjust the length of the child safety strap using the slide buckle in the front pocket (B2). Open the side strap and then the child safety strap.
When placing the child in the carrier, fasten the buckle on one of the side straps first (B4); this will prevent the child from sliding out while being strapped in. Now, close the child safety strap and tighten both shoulder straps evenly. The child should be supported without being constricted. The length of the child safety strap is adjusted using the slide buckle in the front pocket (B2). Then, tighten both side straps until a slight pull is felt (B4). Finally, adjust the foot loops (12). First, lengthen the woven ribbon using the slide buckle. Then, place the child's feet into the loops and tighten them. Shorten the woven ribbon until a slight pull is felt and the child's legs are supported.
Carefully put on the carrier with the child in it, position the chest and hip strap of the carrier system. Then, fold in the support base – it must be folded in during carrying. To take the carrier off, be very careful. Fold back the support base while still wearing the carrier until it locks into place. Take the carrier off your shoulders. Make sure that the child's legs and arms do not get injured when taking the carrier off. Gently put the carrier on the floor.
A sun roof (incl. rain protection) is available for the Shuttle Basic model (Item No. 11903). Complete rain protection for the seat, as well as complete rain protection, can only be used in combination with the sun roof (Item No. 11859).
To attach the sun roof, simply insert the two aluminum rods into the tubes (2) as far as they go. Afterwards, attach the ribbons to the right loops at the side of the back part (8). To do that, pull the toggle through the loop. To attach the rain protection, first open the sun roof. Put the rain cover over the sun roof. Thread the ribbons for the sun roof through the elastic loops on the front bottom of the rain cover. Afterwards, attach the ribbons to the right loops at the side of the back part (8). To do that, pull the toggle through the loop.
A removable cover with frog embroidery is additionally available for the outside of the carrier (Item No. 11861). To attach, first unloop both load positioning straps (7) from the slide buckles. Place the padding over the top of the carrier and thread the load positioning straps through the openings on the cover intended for this purpose. Then, loop the load positioning straps back through the slide buckles (D1).
An adjustable headrest, also available as an accessory (Item No. 11860), can be attached to the carrier. Lift the head padding at the top of the carrier, undo the Velcro fastening, and loop through the headrest. The two headrest tabs should be the same length on either side. Press the head padding back in place.
VAUDE child carriers are made from non-rotting materials. If the child carrier gets wet, it should be dried thoroughly. Otherwise, unpleasant mildew and mold stains can develop. Stains and dirt are best removed using a moist sponge and a mild soap. If the child carrier is very soiled, it can be cleaned in the shower or bath. Do not dry clean or wash in the washing machine!
The removable cover (available separately under Item No. 11861) for the carrier is machine washable at 30°, but should not be put in the dryer. Regularly check all straps and rods for wear and tear. Do not unbend bent rods yourself. For repairs, please contact your VAUDE retailer.
