Usage Features:
The Vax Cordless VII is a 2-in-1 vacuum cleaner, allowing it to be used as a full-size upright cleaner for floors and a handheld unit for more detailed cleaning.
As an Upright Vacuum Cleaner:
- Assembly: The handle aligns with the main body and is secured with a screw. The handheld nozzle pushes onto the main body until it clicks into place.
- Charging: The vacuum requires an initial 5-hour charge before first use. Subsequent charges also take 5 hours. It can be charged with the handheld attached or detached. The charger plugs into the charging port on top of the handheld handle. A green LED indicator illuminates when fully charged; a flashing red light indicates the need for recharging, after which the machine will cut out.
- Operation: To use as an upright, unplug the charger, place a foot on the floorhead, and pull the handle backward to recline. The On/Off button is on the handle. Users can select between high and low suction by pressing the extended runtime button.
- Brushbar: The vacuum is fitted with a rotating brushbar. Caution is advised not to leave the vacuum in one spot for an extended period with the brushbar activated, as this may damage floor surfaces.
As a Handheld Vacuum Cleaner:
- Detachment: Press the handheld release button and lift the handheld from the main body.
- Operation: Push the On/Off switch forward to turn the handheld on.
- Accessories: The vacuum comes with a 2-in-1 Crevice Tool/Dusting Brush, which can be stored on a holder on the back of the handle. For detailed cleaning, the 2-in-1 tool firmly pushes onto the handheld nozzle.
- Reattachment: Before returning the handheld to the main body, switch it off by pulling the On/Off switch backward. The 2-in-1 tool should be removed from the nozzle before reattaching.
Safety Precautions:
- General: Intended for household use only. Keep fingers, hair, and loose clothing away from moving parts. Not for use by persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities unless supervised. Children should not play with or maintain the vacuum. Only Vax recommended tools and accessories should be used.
- Charger: Do not use a damaged charger cord or plug. If damaged, contact a Vax authorised repair agent. Do not charge in damp/wet locations. Charge in temperatures between 10°C and 37°C. Do not store outside or in vehicles.
- Battery: Do not place near fire or heat. Do not crush, drop, or damage the battery pack. Dispose of damaged batteries immediately. Batteries can explode if exposed to ignition sources; avoid using cordless products near open flames. If exposed to chemicals from an exploded battery, flush with water immediately. The battery must be removed before the appliance is scrapped and disposed of safely. Only use the supplied charger (YLJXA-A230050).
- Operation: Always ensure the filter and dirt container are correctly fitted. Turn off and unplug from the charger, and remove the battery before maintenance. Turn off all controls before disconnecting/connecting the battery. Take extra care on stairs. Protect the charger cord from heat/open flames. Keep all openings clear. Do not pull/carry by the charger cord, use it as a handle, or run the appliance over it. Do not handle the charger plug or use the vacuum with wet hands. Do not use if dropped, damaged, or immersed in water. Do not attempt to remove blockages with sharp objects.
- Vacuuming Restrictions: Do not vacuum hot coals, cigarette butts, ash, matches, smoking hot burning items, or harmful fluids (chlorine, bleach, ammonia drain cleaner). Do not vacuum hard/sharp objects (glass, nails, screws, coins). Do not vacuum plaster dust, concrete dust, or other building/vitreous material. Do not vacuum flour, baking soda, or other powder-based carpet refreshers/deodorisers.
- Battery Terminals: Do not short the terminals of the battery and charger. Use correct voltage as listed on the rating label. For best performance, terminals on the battery, charger, and vacuum cleaner must be clean and free from dust/dirt. Prior to disposal, protect exposed terminals with heavy insulating tape.
Maintenance Features:
- Thermal Cut-out: The vacuum has a thermal cut-out that activates if it overheats. If this happens, switch off, remove/empty the dirt container, check for blockages, and allow to cool for approximately 1 hour. If the filter was washed, wait 24 hours for it to dry.
- Dirt Container Emptying: Always switch off the vacuum before maintenance. Press the handheld release button to remove the handheld from the main body. Press the dirt container release button to remove the dirt container. Pull to separate the dirt container from the handheld. Hold over a bin to empty. Do not overfill to avoid blocking airflow.
- Filter Cleaning: Filters require cleaning every 4-6 uses or as needed. Do not use the vacuum without filters. Pull the pre-motor filter out of the dirt container. Tap the filter over a bin to remove dust/debris; do not wash the filter frame. Pull the foam filter to separate it from the filter frame. Wash the foam filter under running water (max 40°C). Leave to dry for at least 24 hours before replacing. Replace filters every 6-9 months.
- Cleaning Terminals: For best performance, all terminals must be free from dust and dirt. Use a dry cloth or soft dusting brush to clean terminals on the main body and handheld.
- Cleaning Blockages: Use a blunt instrument (e.g., broom handle) to clear blockages from the main body or floorhead.
- Brushbar Maintenance: If the brushbar is obstructed, the Motor Protection Sensor may activate. Remove the handheld, clear any obstruction from the brushbar, wait 30 minutes for the vacuum to reset, then return the handheld and retry. To clean the brushbar, use scissors to remove threads/hair. To release the brushbar, pull and lift the release lock underneath the floorhead. Remove the brushbar by lifting the side nearest the release lock first. To replace, fit the inverted round end first, then line up and push the other side into the floorhead, and refit the release lock.
