Overview

The Climma C-TOUCH is a marine air conditioning control system designed for ease of use and optimal climate management on board. This device serves as an installation, usage, and maintenance manual for the C-TOUCH control, which is compatible with various Climma self-contained Compact units (Mk3 and EF series with MK3 electronic control) and Climma fancoils (with Mv8 and MCON electronic control). It is designed to replace older Mk3 and Mk2 controls, though an adjusting kit from 4 to 3 positions is required for replacement due to the C-TOUCH's 3-position cutout.

Function Description:

The Climma C-TOUCH thermostat provides comprehensive control over a marine air conditioning system. Its primary function is to allow users to set and maintain desired cabin temperatures, manage fan speeds, and schedule operation. The system features a user-friendly interface with a 2.4-inch LCD display (320x240 px) that shows current temperature, operating mode, fan speed, and any active warnings or errors.

The main menu offers several functionalities:

  • Mode Selection: Users can switch between various operating modes including Auto, Fan Only, Dehumidify, Cool Only, Heat Only, and Schedule.
    • Auto Mode: The system automatically selects the appropriate functioning mode (cooling or heating) to reach or maintain the set-point temperature.
    • Fan Only Mode: The fan operates without engaging the compressor (for Compact units).
    • Dehumidify Mode: This mode operates in three phases: 30 minutes in Fan Only, followed by 30 to 60 minutes in Cool Mode (parameter C60), and then the unit turns off until a new cycle starts after 6 hours.
    • Cool Only Mode: The unit works exclusively in cooling mode.
    • Heat Only Mode: The unit works exclusively in heating mode.
    • Schedule Mode: The system operates based on a pre-programmed weekly schedule, allowing for automated start/stop times and mode/temperature settings.
  • Language, Date, Time Settings: Allows modification of the display language, current time, and date.
  • Display Settings: Users can customize screen interfaces, colors, and brightness. This includes adjusting brightness levels (6 levels, default maximum), setting a screen saver (none, black screen, or Climma logo with adjustable time from 1 to 10 minutes), choosing between dark or light screen colors (from version 1.1 up), and selecting between standard or enhanced main screen layouts (with bigger icons, available from version 1.1 up).
  • Errors and Logs: Provides access to active errors and a warning/error log. Active errors are underlined with a full spot, and can be reset from this screen. The error log shows a list of past errors with date and time information.
  • Initial Settings: Allows modification of initial board and display settings, including:
    • Board Program: Change Compact/fancoil settings selected during the first startup.
    • Modbus Address: Change the Modbus address of the electrical board (for fancoils with MV8 control only).
    • Celsius/Fahrenheit: Change the temperature unit of measure and modify the scale used for the set-point.
  • Service: Provides authorized service centers access to hidden parameters via a password.
  • Troubleshooting: Guides the user through basic maintenance and troubleshooting steps. It displays useful system information and offers a basic guide for maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Display Info: Shows basic display information such as Model, Software version, and Board code.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Display: 2.4-inch LCD (320x240 px).
  • Battery: Non-rechargeable CR2032, 3V. The battery is used only when the panel is powered off and has a minimum lifespan of 2 years. It retains date and time values when powered off, but these need to be reset after a battery change. Other parameters and information remain in memory.
  • Compatibility:
    • Climma self-contain Compact units (Mk3 and EF series with MK3 electronic control).
    • Climma fancoils (with Mv8 and MCON electronic control).
    • Replaces Mk3 and Mk2 controls (requires a 4-to-3 position adjusting kit).
  • Temperature Sensor: Built-in NTC sensor for ambient temperature measurement. An optional secondary external temperature sensor (MSENS Climma) can be connected to override the display's sensor reading.
  • Cabling: Standard Climma cables are supplied in 6m, 12m, and 18m lengths.
  • Cover Plate Compatibility: Compatible with various cover plates from brands like BTICINO (LIVINGLIGHT, AXOLUTE, AIR), VIMAR (ARKE', EIKON EVO, EIKON EXE', PLANA, IDEA). Specific Veco Codes and Plaque Codes are provided for each compatible plate, indicating whether a cut on support is needed.

Usage Features:

  • Intuitive Interface: Designed for ease of use with clear icons and navigation.
  • Home Screen: Displays current temperature, operating mode, and fan speed. A small spot indicates unit status (OFF, cool mode, heat mode, blinking for water temperature issues).
  • Set-point Adjustment: Easily increase or decrease the set-point temperature using '+' and '-' buttons.
  • Fan Speed Control: Manually change fan speed or switch to automatic mode. The display shows current fan speed through blue/red bars and indicates 'A' for auto mode or 'MAX' for maximum speed.
  • Warning/Error Indication: A red "alarm" symbol appears on the display when errors or warnings are active, providing direct access to the error page.
  • Weekly Scheduler: Allows programming up to 6 different schedules, each customizable with preferred mode, set-point temperatures (living, outdoor, holiday), and hourly temperature settings for each day of the week.
  • Customizable Display: Users can personalize the display's appearance with different interfaces, colors, and brightness levels.
  • Language Support: Multiple language options are available.

Maintenance Features:

  • Battery Replacement: Instructions are provided for changing the CR2032 battery when it dies. This involves turning off the unit, removing the panel, unplugging the cable, and removing the back cover.
  • Troubleshooting Guide: The manual includes a basic troubleshooting section for common issues like the display being off (check power supply, cable connections, cable integrity) or incorrect date/time (change battery).
  • Error Logging: The system logs all warnings and errors, providing a historical record that can assist in diagnosing issues.
  • Clean Filter Alarm (ERROR 4): A warning appears every 2500 running hours, suggesting a filter check for cleaning or replacement.
  • HP Alarm (ERROR 5 - Compact only): Indicates a high-pressure alarm. Troubleshooting steps include checking sea water flow and pump, and cleaning the sea water filter.

The Climma C-TOUCH control system is intended for installation by authorized Climma service centers to ensure proper functioning and compliance with safety guidelines. Failure to follow installation and maintenance instructions may lead to problems or incorrect system operation.
