The
ERA
Command
Ends Spooler
Activates Despooler
to
print a specified spooled file.
Ends
Spooler
Aborts the Despooler
Performs a cold boot process.
The
ERA (erase) command allows you
to
erase from the disk one or more files
at
a time.
You
can
use
both
ambiguous
and
unambiguous file
names
with
the
ERA command.
(Recall
from
the
Introduction
To Vector 4 CP/M
that
an
ambiguous file name
refers
to
more than one file
at
a
time
by
means
of
the
CP
/M
wild
cards
* and
?,
while an unambiguous file name
refers
to
one
and
only one.) The following examples show you
the
different
ways
you
can
use
ERA.
Erasing With Unambiguous
File
Names
1.
Suppose
that
you have a file named
SALES.MEM.
To erase this file you would
proceed
by
using
the
following command format:
FORMAT:
ERA <UFN) [RETURN]
EXAMPLE:
A)ERA
SALE8.MEM
[RETURN]
RESULT:
The file
SALES.MEM
has been erased.

To
erase
several
files
with
the
same
name
(e.g.,
SALES)
but
a
different
extension, you would use
the
following format:
FORMAT:
ERA
<filename).·
[RETURN]
