Overview

The VENTS VK PS series comprises inline centrifugal fans designed for installation into ductwork, specifically for clothes dryers to boost exhaust air and enhance operating efficiency. These fans feature an integrated differential pressure switch that controls their on/off cycles, synchronizing them with the clothes dryer's operation.

Box Contents:

  • Fan: 1 unit
  • Screws and countersinks: 4 units
  • User's manual: 1 unit

Technical Specifications and Compatibility:

The VK PS fans are compatible with 4" (100 mm), 5" (125 mm), and 6" (150 mm) diameter ducts. The model numbers indicate the compatible duct size:

  • VK 100 PS: For 4" (100 mm) ducts
  • VK 125 PS: For 5" (125 mm) ducts
  • VK 150 PS: For 6" (150 mm) ducts

The fans are equipped with a power cord and a plug for connection to a standard wall power socket, or a terminal box for direct power connection. They operate on 120 V AC, 60 Hz. The fan is designed for continuous operation and has a protection rating of IPX4, guarding against access to dangerous parts and water penetration. It can operate in ambient temperatures ranging from +32 °F to +149 °F and is suitable for both vertical and horizontal mounting.

Installation and Usage Features:

The outlet end of the fan must always be connected to a duct. The direction of airflow must match the arrow indicated on the fan housing. For correct operation of the automation, the differential pressure switch should be installed vertically. It is recommended to install a lint trap between the clothes dryer and the fan to extend service life and reduce maintenance frequency. The lint trap should be cleaned as required.

Safety Warnings and Cautions:

Users must read and understand all instructions carefully to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and personal injury.

  • General Safety: Use the product only as intended by the manufacturer. Before servicing or cleaning, switch off power at the main service panel and lock it to prevent accidental turn-on. If the unit is plugged into a 120-volt outlet, unplug the cord.
  • Installation: Installation and electrical wiring must be performed by qualified personnel in accordance with all applicable codes and standards, including fire-rated construction codes. Avoid damaging electrical wiring or hidden utilities when cutting or drilling into walls or ceilings.
  • Ventilation: Fans must always be vented outdoors.
  • Physical Hazards: The fan may have sharp edges; exercise caution during installation and cleaning to avoid cuts.
  • Grounding: This fan must be grounded.
  • Restricted Use: For general ventilation use only; not for fire-rated installations. Do not use the fan to exhaust hazardous or explosive materials or vapors.
  • Indoor Use: For interior use only. Mount the fan with the lowest moving parts at least 8 feet (2.5 meters) above the floor or grade level.
  • Protection from Debris: To prevent motor damage and noisy or unbalanced impeller operation, keep drywall spray, construction dust, and other debris away from the power unit.
  • Pre-installation Check: Before installation, ensure there is no visible damage to the impeller or housing and no foreign objects inside the fan.
  • Power Connection: Connect the fan through the breaker box.
  • Obstruction-Free Operation: Both the inlet and outlet must be free of obstructions for proper fan operation and warranty coverage.
  • Storage: Store the fan in a dry, weather-protected environment in its original packaging. If stored or set in a cold environment, wait 2 hours before connecting it to power.

Maintenance Features:

Regular maintenance is crucial for optimal performance. Dust and dirt should be removed from the unit surface every 6 months. Before any maintenance, disconnect the unit from the main power supply. Clean the fan with a soft cloth and a brush using a water-diluted neutral detergent. Protect the electrical parts from water ingress. After cleaning, wipe the product's surface dry.

Warranty Information:

VENTS US warrants to the original purchaser of the VK PS series fan that it will be free from defects in materials or workmanship for a period of 24 months from the date of original purchase. This warranty is limited to repair or replacement, at VENTS US's option, of any product or part found defective under normal use and service.

Exclusions from Warranty:

  • Labor costs for removing and replacing products.
  • The duration of any implied warranty is limited to the express warranty period.

VENTS US is not liable for incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from product use or performance. The warranty supersedes all prior warranties. If proof of sales date is unavailable, the warranty period is calculated from the production date.
