Overview

The Versa watch winder, model G084, is designed to keep automatic watches wound and ready for use. It simulates the natural motion of wearing a watch, ensuring that the watch's self-winding mechanism remains engaged and the timepiece maintains accurate time. This device is particularly useful for individuals who own multiple automatic watches and do not wear them daily, preventing the watches from stopping and requiring manual resetting.

Function Description

The primary function of the Versa watch winder is to provide a controlled and consistent winding motion for automatic watches. It offers various settings to accommodate different watch movements and winding requirements. Users can select the winding direction (clockwise, counter-clockwise, or bi-directional/auto) and the number of turns per day (TPD). The winder operates in cycles of turning and resting, which is a deliberate design to prevent over-winding and potential damage to the watch's delicate internal mechanisms. This intermittent operation is a normal and crucial aspect of its functionality.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Power: The winder operates using an AC adapter, with an input of AC/100-240V, 50-60Hz and an output of DC/4V 550mA. It is essential to use only the supplied AC adapter to ensure proper and safe operation.
  • Size: The dimensions of the unit are 5.24 inches (Width) x 6.26 inches (Height) x 5.79 inches (Depth). This compact size makes it suitable for placement on a dresser, nightstand, or within a safe.
  • Weight: The winder weighs approximately 1.30 lb (without the adapter), making it lightweight and portable.
  • Temperature: The optimal operating temperature range for the device is between 41°F and 104°F (5°C and 40°C). Operating outside this range may affect performance or longevity.
  • Accessory: The unit comes with an AC adapter. Additionally, it includes a watch holder extender, which can be attached to the standard watch holder to accommodate larger wrist watches, ensuring a secure fit for a wider range of timepieces.

Usage Features

The Versa watch winder offers user-friendly controls for customization:

  • Direction Switch: This switch allows users to select the winding direction:
    • Clockwise: The watch holder rotates in a clockwise direction.
    • Counter-clockwise: The watch holder rotates in a counter-clockwise direction.
    • Auto (Bi-directional): The watch holder alternates between clockwise and counter-clockwise rotations, suitable for watches that wind in both directions.
  • TPD (Turns Per Day) Switch: This switch allows users to select the desired number of turns per day, with four available settings:
    • 650 TPD
    • 850 TPD
    • 1050 TPD
    • 1250 TPD These settings ensure that the watch receives an adequate amount of winding without being over-wound. The manual emphasizes that the winder will turn, rest, and turn again for each setting, which is the normal operation to prevent over-winding.
  • Power Switch: A simple power switch is used to turn the unit on and off.
  • Watch Holder System: The watch holder is designed for secure placement and easy insertion/removal. To place a watch, the holder is pulled out from the winder, the spring on the back of the holder is pushed in, the watch is placed around the holder, and the spring is released. The holder is then pushed back into the winder until a "CLICK" sound confirms it is securely in place. For larger watches, the included holder extender can be used.

Operation Steps

  1. Connect Power: Insert the AC adapter into the socket on the product and plug it into an electrical outlet.
  2. Remove Watch Holder: Open the front cover. Use your index finger and thumb to hold the watch holder from the two sides (marked with arrows) and pull it out with some force.
  3. Place Watch: Push in the spring on the back of the holder, place your watch around the holder, and release the spring.
  4. Insert Watch Holder: Place the holder back into the winder. Push until you hear a "CLICK" to confirm it is securely in place.
  5. Power On: Press the Power switch to start the winder.
  6. Select Direction: Slide the Direction switch to choose clockwise, counter-clockwise, or Auto (bi-directional).
  7. Select TPD: Slide the TPD switch to select the desired turns per day (650, 850, 1050, or 1250).

Maintenance Features and Attention Points

To ensure the longevity and proper functioning of the Versa watch winder and the watches it holds, several attention points are highlighted:

  • Power Off When Not in Use: If the product will not be used for a long time, it should be switched off.
  • Turn Off Before Handling: Always turn the unit off completely before attempting to pull out the watch holder or when inserting/removing watches. This prevents accidental damage to the winder or the watch.
  • Use Supplied AC Adapter: Only the AC adapter supplied with the unit should be used. Using an incorrect adapter could damage the device.
  • Remove Adapter When Not in Use: When the winder is not in use, the adapter should be removed from the power outlet.
  • Avoid Shaking During Operation: Do not shake the watch winder when it is in operation, as this could disrupt the winding process or potentially damage the internal components.
  • Troubleshooting Guide: The manual provides a comprehensive guide for finding the correct TPD setting for a watch. This involves manually winding the watch, setting the winder to the lowest TPD and bi-directional rotation, and then gradually increasing the TPD or changing the direction if the watch does not keep accurate time. If issues persist, users are encouraged to contact customer support.
  • Watch Compatibility Chart: A table listing popular watch brands and their common rotation direction and turns per day (BD=Bi-directional, CW=Clockwise, CCW=Counter-clockwise) is provided as a reference. This helps users quickly identify suitable settings for their specific watch models, although it notes that specific models may have exceptions.

The Versa watch winder is a practical and essential accessory for any automatic watch owner, designed to maintain the watch's functionality and extend its lifespan through careful and controlled winding.
