Overview

This document provides the installation and instruction manual for a VIAN POWER Hot Tub Heat Pump, designed for low-cost hot tub heating. The manual covers essential information for safe operation, installation, usage, and maintenance of the device.

Function Description

The VIAN POWER Hot Tub Heat Pump is designed to efficiently heat hot tubs. It operates by extracting heat from the ambient air and transferring it to the hot tub water, offering an energy-efficient alternative to traditional electric heaters. The unit supports both heating and cooling modes, allowing for versatile temperature control. It features a remote controller for operation and includes Wi-Fi connectivity for smart control via a mobile application, "Smart Life," available for both iOS and Android devices. The heat pump utilizes R32 refrigerant, a new generation refrigerant gas.

Usage Features

Installation:

  • Professional Installation: The heat pump must be installed by a professional team to ensure safety and proper functioning.
  • Transportation: The unit should always be stored and moved in an upright position. When moving, avoid lifting by the water union to prevent damage to the titanium heat exchanger.
  • Location: Install on a level concrete floor, ensuring sufficient stability to support the unit's weight. Adequate ventilation space (at least 500mm on sides and back, and free ventilation above) is required. Avoid areas exposed to oil, flammable gases, corrosive products, or high-frequency equipment.
  • Electrical Connection: Requires a power supply cable suitable for the unit's power requirements and a D-curve circuit breaker. The unit must be connected to a grounded socket, and an independent switch is required.
  • Water Connection: A By-Pass kit and PVC tubing are necessary. A drainage device should be provided near the unit. The filter must be cleaned regularly.

Operation (Remote Controller):

  • Control Panel: Features buttons for Mode (heating, silent, cooling), ON/OFF, Up/Down for temperature adjustment, and status query.
  • Temperature Setting: Users can adjust the target temperature in the current mode.
  • Mode Switching: Allows switching between heating, silent, and cooling modes.
  • Status Query: Enables checking various system parameters like compressor frequency, water temperatures (inlet, outlet, coil, tank), ambient temperature, and pressure values.
  • Manual Defrost: A function to manually initiate defrosting.
  • Lock/Unlock Function: Automatically locks buttons and reduces screen brightness after 60 seconds of inactivity.

Wi-Fi Settings and Smart Life App:

  • Software Installation: The "Smart Life" app can be downloaded from app stores or by scanning a QR code.
  • Registration and Configuration: Users can register an account, create a home, set a home name, and add rooms within the app. Existing users can log in directly.
  • Device Pairing (EZ Mode):
    1. Ensure the heat pump is powered on and the Wi-Fi icon flashes rapidly (achieved by pressing Up and Down keys simultaneously for 5 seconds).
    2. Connect the phone to a Wi-Fi hotspot with internet access.
    3. Open the "Smart Life" app, click "+" to add a device, select "Large Home Appliances" then "Smart Heat Pump."
    4. Confirm the indicator is flashing rapidly, enter the Wi-Fi password, and connect.
  • Device Pairing (AP Mode):
    1. Ensure the heat pump is powered on and the Wi-Fi icon flashes slowly (achieved by pressing Up and Down keys simultaneously for 5 seconds).
    2. In the app, select "AP Mode" in the top right corner of the add device interface.
    3. Confirm the indicator is flashing slowly, enter the Wi-Fi password, and then connect the phone to the device's hotspot (e.g., "SmartLife-XXXX").
  • Software Function Operation:
    • Main Interface: Displays current and target temperatures, and allows switching between modes (Auto, Heating, Cold).
    • Temperature Adjustment: Adjust temperature by sliding a circle on the interface.
    • ON/OFF: Control the unit's power.
    • Timing: Set schedules for the unit to turn on/off.
    • Device Name Modification: Rename the device within the app.
    • Device Sharing: Share control of the device with other users.
    • Device Removal: Remove the device from the app, which also resets the Wi-Fi configuration on the unit.

Maintenance Features

Safety Precautions:

  • Always disconnect the electrical power supply before any maintenance work.
  • Ensure capacitors are discharged before working on electrical components.
  • Verify earth bonding continuity.
  • Use appropriate refrigerant detectors when working with flammable refrigerants (R32).
  • Have fire extinguishing equipment (dry powder or CO2) available during hot work.

Cleaning:

  • Casing: Clean the heat pump's casing with a damp cloth. Avoid detergents or harsh household products that could damage the surface.
  • Evaporator: Carefully clean the evaporator at the rear of the heat pump with a vacuum cleaner and a soft brush attachment.

Annual Maintenance (by a qualified person):

  • Carry out safety checks.
  • Check the integrity of the electrical wiring.
  • Check the earthing connections.
  • Monitor the state of the pressure gauge and the presence of refrigerant.

Troubleshooting:

  • The manual provides a list of error codes (E03-E54, D17-D36) with corresponding fault names and shutdown protection actions.
  • Common malfunctions (e.g., unit not running, low hot water temperature) are listed with their causes and solutions. For example, if the unit is not running, check for power outage, power switch connection, burned-out fuse, or timing settings.

Winterizing:

  • Power Disconnection: Cut off the power supply to prevent machine damage during winter.
  • Water Drainage: Drain all water from the machine, especially by unscrewing the water nozzle of the inlet pipe. This prevents freezing and potential damage to the titanium heat exchanger.
  • Covering: Cover the machine body when not in use during the winter season.
