Why does the pipe stop rotating during grooving with the Victaulic Power Tool?
    • D
      dmooreAug 15, 2025
When the pipe stops rotating during grooving with the Victaulic Power Tool, several factors could be at play. It could be due to rust or dirt buildup on the lower roll, which can be resolved by removing the accumulation with a stiff wire brush. Similarly, heavy rust or dirt inside the pipe end can cause this issue, and it should be removed. Excessive ram pressure can also halt rotation; reduce it by setting the selector valve to the “BLACK” setting. Other potential causes include incorrect ram speed settings, worn grooving rolls (inspect the lower roll for worn knurls and replace if necessary), a tripped main breaker or thermal overloads (reset them), or broken/missing Woodruff keys (replace them after removing the lower roll and using the punch tool).

How to prevent excessive pipe flare with the Victaulic Power Tool?
    • R
      Roberto KellyAug 18, 2025
Excessive pipe flare when using the Victaulic Power Tool can stem from several issues. The pipe support might be adjusted too high for long pipes, or the tool could be tilted forward. Incorrect pipe support positioning can also cause this. Additionally, the pipe stabilizer may be adjusted too far inward; back it off to the point where it still effectively stabilizes the pipe. Finally, excessive ram pressure can contribute to flaring; reduce it by setting the selector valve to the “BLACK” setting.

Why is there a loud squeaking noise when grooving pipe with the Victaulic VE268 Power Tool?
    • G
      gregory79Aug 22, 2025
Loud squeaks echoing through the pipe during grooving with the Victaulic Power Tool can be attributed to a few reasons. The incorrect pipe support positioning of a long pipe length, leading to 'over-tracking,' could be the cause. Adjust the pipe support to the right. Another reason could be that the pipe is not cut square, so ensure the pipe end is cut squarely. Additionally, the pipe might be rubbing excessively on the lower-roll backstop flange; in this case, remove the pipe and apply a light coating of bandsaw blade wax to the face of the pipe end.

What to do if pipe groove diameters don't meet Victaulic specifications when using the Victaulic VE268?
    • K
      kimberly31Aug 26, 2025
If pipe groove diameters do not meet Victaulic specifications, it could be due to the groove diameter stop not being adjusted properly. Another possibility is that the pipe is beyond the wall thickness or pipe yield strength capacity of the tool.

Why won't the Victaulic VE268 Power Tool groove the pipe, or why is it slow to reach operating pressure?
    • A
      Aaron NunezAug 28, 2025
If the Victaulic Power Tool will not groove the pipe, or if it takes too long to reach operating pressure, it could be due to air in the hydraulic system, or the pipe exceeding the tool's wall thickness or yield strength capacity.

Why don't the 'A' Gasket Seat or 'B' Groove Width dimensions meet Victaulic specifications with the Victaulic VE268 Power Tool?
    • M
      Michael JoyceSep 1, 2025
If the “A” Gasket Seat or “B” Groove Width dimensions do not meet Victaulic specifications, it could be due to the upper roll bearing not being lubricated enough. Another reason could be that the incorrect upper roll, lower roll, or both are installed on the tool. Also, the pipe might not be fully inserted onto the lower roll, or it is not tracking properly, so make sure the pipe is against the lower-roll backstop flange.

Why won't the pipe stay in grooving rolls when using the Victaulic VE268 Power Tool?
    • S
      Spencer MorrisonSep 4, 2025
If the pipe will not stay in grooving rolls with the Victaulic Power Tool, it could be due to incorrect pipe positioning of a long pipe length, or the lower roll and pipe are not rotating clockwise.

What causes loud thumps or bangs during grooving with the Victaulic Power Tool?
    • J
      Julie JohnsonSep 7, 2025
During grooving, loud thumps or bangs occurring approximately once every revolution of the pipe when using the Victaulic Power Tool indicates the pipe has a pronounced weld seam. For 12-inch/323.9-mm and smaller pipe sizes, raised internal and external weld beads and seams must be ground flush with the pipe surface 2 inches/50 mm back from the pipe ends.

Why does larger diameter pipe sway or vibrate from side to side with the Victaulic Power Tool?
    • L
      lindahillSep 12, 2025
If larger diameter pipe sways or vibrates from side to side when using the Victaulic Power Tool, it is due to incorrect pipe stabilizer adjustment. Move the pipe stabilizer in or out until the pipe rotates smoothly.
