Why does the pipe stop rotating during grooving with the Victaulic Power Tool?
- DdmooreAug 15, 2025
When the pipe stops rotating during grooving with the Victaulic Power Tool, several factors could be at play. It could be due to rust or dirt buildup on the lower roll, which can be resolved by removing the accumulation with a stiff wire brush. Similarly, heavy rust or dirt inside the pipe end can cause this issue, and it should be removed. Excessive ram pressure can also halt rotation; reduce it by setting the selector valve to the “BLACK” setting. Other potential causes include incorrect ram speed settings, worn grooving rolls (inspect the lower roll for worn knurls and replace if necessary), a tripped main breaker or thermal overloads (reset them), or broken/missing Woodruff keys (replace them after removing the lower roll and using the punch tool).
