09. Initial operation of
appliance
- Carefully inspect the
complete area on which the
appliance is to be used and
remove any stones, sticks,
wires, bones and other
foreign objects.
- Mark any objects hidden in
the grass (lawn sprinkler
systems, posts, water
valves, foundations,
electrical wires, etc.)
- Only start the engine in
accordance with the
instructions.
-Be particularly careful when
turning the lawn scarifier
around or pulling it towards
you.
- Risk of injury!
Never put hands or feet on
or underneath rotating parts.
- Always wear hearing
protection and
safety glasses
when using the
lawn scarifier.
- Always wear robust shoes
and long trousers when
operating the lawn scarifier.
Never work barefoot or in
sandals.
- Never use the lawn scarifier
in the vicinity of other
persons, particularly
children, or animals.
WARNING
09.01 Starting the
engine

Step :
Press the motorstop (J)
lever to the handlebar and
hold.
Step :
Pull the starter cable (B)
slowly to the point of
resistance, then pull sharply
to arm’s length.
Slowly release the cable so
that it can gradually be rolled
up by the starter.
Repeat as necessary until the
engine starts.
Risk of injury!
Only switch on the engine
when the scarifying unit is in
the transport position.
Never tilt the lawn scarifier
to switch on the engine.
WARNING
Switch off the engine
immediately and disconnect
the spark plug socket.
Inspect the machine, in
particular the scarifying unit
for damage and eliminate the
cause of the fault.
08.02 When the scarifying
unit blocks
A lawn scarifier must not be
operated with a defective,
bent or otherwise damaged
scarifying unit (comprising
the blade shaft, blades,
nuts, washers and spacer
bushings). Have any
necessary repairs carried
out by an expert before
starting the machine again
and resuming work.
WARNING
Risk of injury!
Always wear gloves.
WARNING
- In the case of heavily matted
lawns, repeat the process at
right angles to the initial
strips.
After scarifying:
- Free the lawn completely of
the scarified material.
- Fertilise the lawn and re-
seed any bare patches that
may have appeared.
- Water the lawn generously.
For safety reasons, the
scarifier must not be used on
slopes with an incline of more
than 25°. An inclination of
25° (46.6 %) corresponds to
avertical height increase of
46.6 cm for a 100 cm
horizontal distance.
Only scarify at right-angles to
and never up or down the
slope.
In order to ensure an
adequate oil supply for the
engine, the information in the
accompanying engine
instruction manual must be
additionally observed when
using the machine on slopes.
