17. Troubleshooting

- Engine will not start
- Motorstop lever is not pulled
- No fuel in tank; fuel line
blocked
- Scarifying unit not in
transport position
- Inferior, dirty or old fuel in
tank
- Dirty air filter
- Spark plug socket
disconnected from spark
plug; ignition lead not
properly fastened to socket
- Spark plug dirty or damaged;
incorrect electrode gap
- Press motorstop lever to
handlebar
- Top up fuel; clean fuel line
- Bring scarifying unit into
transport position
- Always use fresh, good
quality fuel, normal unleaded
petrol; clean carburettor
- Clean air filter
- Connect spark plug socket;
check connection between
ignition lead and socket
- Clean or replace spark plug;
adjust electrode gap
- Starting problems or
deteriorating engine
performance
- Scarifying unit not in
transport position
- Lawn scarifier housing
blocked
- Scarifying with excessive
working depth or pushing
speed
- Water in fuel tank and
carburettor; carburettor
blocked
- Contaminated fuel tank
