- Engine overheating - Dirty cooling ribs
- Oil level in engine too low
- Clean cooling ribs
- Top up engine oil
- Excessive vibration during
operation
- Scarifying unit defective
- Engine mounting loose
- Check blades, blade shaft,
nuts, washers, spacer
bushings and bearings of
scarifying unit, repair if
necessary
- Tighten engine fastening
bolts
- Poor working results
- Blade set too deep (bare
patches, high grass content
in scarified material)
- Blade set too shallow (little or
no lawn thatch is removed)
- Blades have reached wear
limit
- V-belt defective, worn or
insufficiently tensioned
- Reduce working depth
- Increase working depth
- Replace blades
- Replace or tension V-belt as
required
- Blades do not run
- V-belt defective
- Scarifying unit defective
- Replace V-belt
- Repair scarifying unit
