Overview

This document is the owner's manual for the Vinotemp VT-34 TS & VT-34 TSWV (34-Bottle) Wine Cellar.

Function Description:

The Vinotemp wine cellar is designed for storing and/or serving wine. It features a glass door and a soft interior light to elegantly display the wine collection. The unit is intended for indoor, household use and is designed for freestanding installation. It is crucial to store wines at the proper temperature to preserve them as long as possible, with an optimal storage temperature of approximately 55° Fahrenheit. The manual also provides a chart suggesting optimal drinking temperatures for various wine styles, ranging from 45°F (7°C) for Non Vintage Sparkling to 66°F (19°C) for Armagnac, Brandy, and Cognac.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Type: 1 Temp.
  • Item Number: VT-34 TS & VT-34 TSWV
  • Bottle Capacity: Approximately 34 standard Bordeaux 750 ml bottles. Note that storing larger or oddly shaped bottles (including champagne and sparkling wine bottles) will decrease the capacity.
  • Dimension (HxWxD): 32.75" × 19" × 18.5"
  • Weight: 57 Lbs
  • Power Consumption: 0.0858 kW.h/24h
  • Cooling System: R134a
  • Ambient Temp. Range: 50-90°F
  • Temperature Range: 39-65°F
  • Rated Voltage: 120V
  • Rated Frequency: 60Hz
  • Input Power: 85W
  • Electrical Connection: The unit is equipped with a 3-conductor cord set with a molded 3-prong grounding-type plug. A standard electrical supply (120V AC only, 60Hz), properly grounded, is required. Extension cords or adapters are strongly discouraged.

Usage Features:

  • Installation: Before connecting to power, the unit should rest upright for approximately 24 hours to reduce the possibility of a malfunction in the cooling system due to handling during transportation. The unit requires a minimum of 10-12 inches clearance on each side, 6 inches at the rear, and unlimited clearance at the top for proper function. It should not be placed in direct sunlight, near heat sources (stove, heater, radiator, dishwasher, microwave, oven), or plugged into the same outlet as a refrigerator or microwave.
  • Temperature Control: The wine cooler features a touch screen control panel on the upper part of the glass door. Users can manually adjust the temperature using up and down arrow buttons, increasing or decreasing by 1-degree increments within the range of 39°F (4°C) to 65°F (18°C). A C/F button allows switching between Celsius and Fahrenheit display.
  • Control Panel Lock: The unit has an automatic control panel lock function that activates 12 seconds after the last button press to prevent unwanted changes. To unlock, press and hold both the down and up arrow buttons for three seconds until the panel beeps and blinks.
  • Interior Light: The interior light can be turned on and off by touching the designated button on the control panel.
  • First Use: When using for the first time, allow at least 24 hours for the internal temperature to adjust properly. Ensure at least three to five bottles are in the unit.
  • Energy Conservation: Limit the frequency of opening the door to conserve energy and maintain proper storage temperature.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning: Always unplug the wine cellar before cleaning. Do not use benzene, scrubbing brushes, or chemical cleaners. Use a mild, nonabrasive cleanser for the exterior. Clean the stainless steel door and handle with a warm water and baking soda solution (approximately 2 tablespoons of baking soda to a quart of water). Wash racks with a mild detergent solution. Dry all parts with a clean, dry cloth before plugging the unit back in.
  • Inactivity: If the unit will be inactive for less than three weeks, leave it operating. For longer periods of inactivity (several months), remove all items, turn the unit off, clean and dry the interior thoroughly, and leave the door slightly open to prevent moisture build-up.
  • Moving: Always unplug the unit and remove all bottles before moving. Securely tape down all loose items (shelves) and tape the door shut. Be careful of cabinet legs and ensure the wine cellar stays in an upright position during transportation. Protect the exterior with a blanket or similar item if needed.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual provides a comprehensive troubleshooting guide for common issues such as the door not closing, unit not operating, unit not cooling, fan running continuously, vibrations, frost in the cabinet, and flashing interior light, along with possible causes and solutions. For example, if the unit is not cooling, check if it's plugged in, if the wall socket has power, if there are enough bottles (3-5), if the room temperature is too high, or if the unit has proper clearances.
