Why will my Viper 18600 173CC not start?
    • B
      Brittany OrtizAug 4, 2025
Your Viper Engine might fail to start due to several reasons: the power switch may be off (flip it to the ON position), the spark plug wire could be disconnected (connect it to the spark plug), the engine might be out of fuel (refuel it), the spark plug could be wet, faulty, or improperly gapped (clean, replace, or gap the spark plug), or the fuel could be stale (drain the old fuel and replace it with fresh fuel; use a fuel stabilizer as a future preventative measure).

What to do if my Viper Engine misses or lacks power?
    • A
      Amy McdowellAug 10, 2025
If your Viper Engine is missing or lacking power, the cause may be a clogged fuel tank or fuel filter (remove and clean it), a clogged air filter (replace the air filter), a improper carburetor adjustment. Also, the spark plug could be dirty, have an improper gap, or be the wrong type (replace the spark plug and adjust the gap to .030”). For a carburetor adjustment, call factory.

      debra53Aug 15, 2025
A hard-to-start Viper Engine may be due to stale fuel (drain old fuel and replace with fresh fuel, using a fuel stabilizer as a preventative measure), a loose spark plug wire (ensure it's securely attached to the spark plug), or a dirty carburetor (clean the carburetor, use fuel stabilizer, and use new fuel).

    • J
      Jennifer ChaneyAug 21, 2025
If your Viper Engine runs rough and floods, it might be due to a dirty air filter (replace the air filter). Another possible cause is that the carburetor is out of adjustment. For a carburetor adjustment, call factory.

Your Viper Engine might run and then quit because the fuel cap is not venting. Replace the fuel cap to resolve this.
