Product description
Car Radio with Bluetooth Module is equipment installed in a car to provide in-car
entertainment and information for the vehicle occupants. It consisted of a simple
FM/AM/DAB radio, media players and Bluetooth module. User can listen to FM/AM,
DAB, USB and AUX audio by using the equipment.

This document describes a Car Radio with Bluetooth Module, designed to provide in-car entertainment and information. The device supports various audio sources including FM/AM/DAB radio, media players, and Bluetooth.

The device comes in several models, all utilizing the same Bluetooth module and main PCB board:

Models with "WDAB" in their name include DAB functionality, while those without "WDAB" do not. The "PH2" models also have variations with and without DAB. All models share similar appearance, construction, PCB, and components within their respective groups (CMFB, PH2-X07, PH2-1DIN).

Function Description:

The car radio allows users to listen to FM/AM, DAB (where applicable), USB, and AUX audio. It also features a Bluetooth module for audio streaming and telephone operations.

Usage Features:

On/Off and Volume Control:

• On User Status: When the engine is on, pressing the POWER button switches the radio on.
• OFF User Status: When the radio is on, pressing the POWER button switches it to OFF_User Status, displaying a standby screen with a clock. The Bluetooth link becomes inactive. Pressing POWER again switches the unit on.
• Increase Volume: Rotate the knob clockwise. The Radio LCD displays the current volume.
• Decrease Volume: Rotate the knob anti-clockwise.
• Mute and Vol 00 Status: Decreasing volume to 0 by rotating the POWER button anti-clockwise mutes audio; the source does not pause.

FM/AM Operation:

• Band Select: Short press the RADIO button to switch to tuner mode.
• Frequency Store: In radio source screen, long press a preset number button (1-6) to store the current station. A Roger Beep indicates successful storage.
• Store Presets in List Mode: In list screen, long press a preset number button (1-6) to store the selected station to the corresponding preset without switching to it.
• Frequency Recall: Short press a preset number button to recall the stored station.
• Manual Tune: In radio source screen, short press <</>> buttons or rotate the right knob to increase/decrease frequency by 0.05MHz (FM) or 1KHz (AM).
• Auto Seek: In radio source screen, long press <</>> buttons to start continuous frequency scrolling until released, stopping on the next/previous station with good signal strength.
• Radio Stations List: Long press the RADIO button or use SETUP to update the FM list.
• Browse FM list and select station: In radio source screen, rotate or press the right knob to enter the FM list. Rotate the right knob to browse and press to select a station.
• PS Name Display: Displays the radio's PSNAME (Program Service Name) if available; otherwise, displays frequency.
• TA (Traffic Announcement): When a traffic announcement comes in, the radio displays the FM/DAB TA Screen and plays automatically. Press BACK to exit.

Media Operation (USB/iPod/AUX):

• USB/iPod Play Operation: If not in media mode, short press the MEDIA button to switch to media mode.
• Media Source Select: Short press MEDIA again to cycle through sources (CD -> iPod/USB -> AUX -> BT).
• Track Up/Down: Short press >> for the next track. If current track play time is <=3 sec, short press << for the previous track. If >3 sec, short press << to play from the current track's beginning.
• Fast Forward / Rewind: Long press <</>> buttons.
• Browsing List Operation: In music play screen, short press or rotate the right knob to enter the browsing list. Rotate the right knob to choose a song and press to play. In browsing list, press BACK to display the upper level menu; if the current folder is the root, BACK displays the music play screen.
• Quick Search of Browsing List: In music play screen, press preset #6 to start quick search. Rotate the right knob clockwise for A-Z, anti-clockwise for 9-0. Press the right knob to display songs starting with the selected letter.
• Track ID3 Information Display: In media play screen, short press DISP to display ID3 info (Artist => Album => Play time => Artist...). Long press DISP for full screen ID3 info.
• AUX Operation: Multiple presses on MEDIA select AUX. Track up/down, folder up/down, fast forward/rewind, and mix/repeat operations are not enabled in AUX mode.
• Play Mode: Short press preset #1 to turn on RPT mode, then MIX mode. Press again to revert to normal play.
• Repeat Play: Short press preset #2 to repeatedly play the current track, displaying the RPT icon.
• MIX Play: When changed to MIX play mode, the radio stops current play and randomly plays another track, then plays all tracks in random order, displaying the MIX icon.

Bluetooth (BT) Audio Operation:

• Devices not Supporting Browsing List or ID3 Display: Multiple presses on MEDIA change to BT audio source. If a connected cell phone supports A2DP, Bluetooth audio can be selected. If the BT device does not support browsing list or ID3 display, the BT audio screen will be limited.
• Devices Supporting ID3 Display but not Browsing List: If the device supports ID3 display, the BT audio screen will show ID3 info. The right knob for browsing list will not be available. Track up/down, Fast Forward/Rewind are still available.
• Devices Supporting Browsing List and ID3 Display: If the device supports both, rotate the right knob to enter and browse the browsing list. In the browsing list screen, rotate the right knob to move the highlight focus and browse the list.

Bluetooth (BT) Telephone Operation:

• BT OFF Status: When BT is OFF, press TEL to enter the BT telephone menu with "Settings" and "Bluetooth" options. "Settings" enters Volume and Ringtone settings. BACK returns to the BT telephone menu. "Bluetooth" enters the Bluetooth ON/OFF screen.
• BT ON Status but not connect the phone: If BT is ON but no device is connected, short press TEL to enter the BT telephone menu with "Scan devices," "Pair device," "Settings," and "Bluetooth" options.
• BT ON and Connect device status: If BT is ON and a device is connected, short press TEL to enter the BT telephone menu with "Call List," "Phonebook," "Dial Number," "Scan devices," "Pair device," "Sel. Device," "Del. Device," "Settings," and "Bluetooth" options.

Devices Connections:

• Devices Scanning: When BT is ON, select "Scan for Devices." The radio displays a scanning screen. Press BACK to cancel. If no device is found, the screen indicates this. Rotate and press the right knob to choose a device to pair.
• Pairing: The radio starts pairing and displays a wait screen. A password confirm screen appears (if supported by the phone for secure simple pairing, or requiring PIN entry). Timeout after 60 seconds returns to the pair device menu. Pairing in progress screen is displayed. If connection is interrupted or timed out, pairing fails. On successful pairing, the radio connects. If the BT device is not supported, or connection is interrupted/timed out, connection fails.
• Devices Pairing: In BT telephone menu, select "Pair device." If five devices are already paired (max), a "Max Device" screen appears. Pressing the right knob enters the "Max Devices Question" screen. YES deletes a device; NO quits deleting. If max devices are not paired, "Pair device" starts pairing.
• Devices Select: In BT telephone menu, select "Sel. device" to see a list of paired devices. Icons indicate supported functions (phone, A2DP audio, phone with audio capability). Nothing is displayed for BT Devices without HFP or A2DP. Select a device to connect.
• Devices Delete: In BT telephone menu, select "Del. device" to display paired devices. Select a device, choose YES/NO to confirm deletion. Pressing YES deletes the device. After 3 seconds, the radio returns to the BT telephone menu.

Call Operation:

• Call List: If a phone is connected, press TEL to enter the BT telephone menu. Press the right knob to enter the call list. Rotate the right knob and push to see Dialed/Received/Missed list. Press the right knob or TEL to call the selected person.
• Phonebook Download: The phonebook automatically downloads upon device connection. To update, with BT device connected, press TEL, select "Settings," then "PB download." After 3 seconds, the screen returns to the previous audio source. A "Phonebook Downloaded" pop-up appears for 3 seconds.
• Browse Phonebook: In BT telephone menu, select "Phonebook." If empty, the radio displays an empty screen; otherwise, it displays the phonebook. Select a contact's name to see numbers. Press the right knob to call the selected number. Select END to quit calling.
• Dial Number: In BT telephone menu, select "Dial Number." In the dialing screen, rotate the right knob and push to dial, then select CALL. Backspace (arrow) deletes the last input number.
• Calls Incoming: When a call comes in, the screen displays call info. Rotate the right knob and press to answer/on hold/reject. A rejected call screen displays for 3 seconds, then returns to the current audio source. The on-hold screen allows answering or rejecting. When answered, the call screen displays. Rotate the right knob and press to end/on hold/handset the call or dial number. Select on the call screen to end the call, change to private mode, or enter DTMF screen.
• 2nd Incoming Call: If a second call comes in, the radio displays call info. Select to reject the second call (returns to first call screen) or answer (first call held). Select on call 2 screen to end the second call (returns to call 1 screen). Select on 2nd incoming call screen to change to first incoming call and hold second, or return to second call and hold first.

Bluetooth Settings:

• Ring Volume: In BT telephone menu, select "Settings," then "Volume." Choose "Ringtone." Rotate the right knob anti-clockwise to decrease, clockwise to increase. Volume scales change. Ringtone voice can also be adjusted by the left knob during a call.
• Call Volume: Choose "Ongoing" in the volume-setting menu. Rotate anti-clockwise to decrease, clockwise to increase. Can also be adjusted by the left knob during a call.
• Ringtone Mode: In Bluetooth settings menu, select "Ringtone" to choose the output device.
• Bluetooth ON/OFF: Press TEL, then "Bluetooth" to turn on/off Bluetooth.

Audio/Setup:

• Audio Settings: Press SETUP, then "Audio." Select "Sound" to adjust sound effects. Rotate the right knob and press to choose an effect, then rotate to increase/decrease its value. Set different AUX levels. Speed volume function adjusts volume based on speed to equalize noise. Select "Speed Volume" to adjust default level. Select "Bass Boost" to turn on/off bass boost. Select "Audio Default," then "Yes" to set to default audio settings, or "No" to quit.
• Clock Settings: In SETUP, select "Clock." Select "Set time" to start setting. Rotate the right knob to adjust hour (when flashing), then press to confirm and switch to minute. Rotate the right knob to adjust minute (when flashing), then press to confirm. "ON/OFF" option decides clock display. "Clock Format" chooses am/pm or 24hr format.

Radio Settings:

• In SETUP, press "Radio." Enter "TA" to turn on/off TA function (ON displays TA icon, OFF hides it). Enter "DAB Interrupt" to choose DAB's interrupt events.

Language Settings:

• In SETUP, select "Language" to choose the radio menu language.

DAB (Digital Radio) Operation:

• DAB Band Select: Short press RADIO to switch to DAB1 or DAB2.
• Radio Text Display: Press DISP to display DAB radio text.
• Browse EPG List: Scroll DAB menu to "EPG" (if available), push the right knob to enter EPG list screen. Scroll to one EPG radio, push the right knob to select. Program list will show.
• Intellitext Display: Select "Intellitext" on DAB menu to enter 1st level screen. Push the right knob to select an option (e.g., "News") to enter 2nd level screen. Select an option (e.g., "Business") to see the full story.

Maintenance Features:

• Restrictions on putting into service: Ensure the device can be operated in at least one member state without infringing applicable radio spectrum requirements.
• Installation instruction: This device is sold to car manufacturers, not directly to consumers; therefore, installation instructions are not provided to consumers.
• Ventilation: No sufficient ventilation distance needed.
• Use of apparatus: In tropical and moderate climates.

FCC Warning:

• Changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user's authority to operate the equipment.
• This equipment complies with Class B digital device limits (Part 15 FCC Rules). It generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy. If not installed and used according to instructions, it may cause harmful interference. If interference occurs (determined by turning equipment off/on), users are encouraged to correct it by:
  • Reorienting or relocating the receiving antenna.
  • Increasing separation between equipment and receiver.
  • Connecting equipment to an outlet on a different circuit.
  • Consulting the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician.
