Overview

The Vitamix Commercial Drink Machine Two Speed and Drink Machine Advance (VM0100 and VM0100A) are commercial blenders designed for heavy-duty blending tasks. These machines are built to withstand the rigors of commercial use, offering robust performance and various features for efficient beverage preparation.

Function Description:

These blenders are primarily used for preparing a wide range of beverages, including frappes, frappuccinos, frozen cocktails, smoothies, granitas, and milkshakes. The Drink Machine Two Speed model offers basic high and low-speed blending, while the Drink Machine Advance model provides pre-programmed settings for consistent results across different recipes. The Advance model is particularly optimized for use with the Vitamix 1.4 L Advance container, though it can also accommodate Vitamix Standard containers (2.0 L, 0.9 L) with potential programming adjustments. Both models feature a pulse switch for quick refreshing of contents.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Voltage: 120 VAC
  • Amps: 11.5 (2.3 peak hp*)
  • Frequency: 50/60 Hz
  • Container Capacity (Advance Model): Optimized for 1.4 L Advance container. Can use 2.0 L and 0.9 L Vitamix Standard containers.
  • Container Capacity (Two Speed Model): Typically used with tall 2-liter and 1.4-liter containers. Not used with 0.9-liter Advance containers.
  • Lid Type: Two-piece latching lid for 64 oz (2.0-liter) and 48 oz (1.4-liter) containers. The lid plug can be removed for adding ingredients or using the tamper.
  • Overload Protection: The motor is designed to protect itself from overheating. In case of a shut-off due to overheating, the machine can be reset after 5 minutes, though it may require up to 45 minutes for full recovery.

Usage Features:

  • Control Panels:
    • Drink Machine Advance Model: Features an On/Off switch, Start/Stop switch, Program Dial for selecting pre-programmed settings, and a Pulse switch. The Start/Stop switch activates and stops programs, while the Program Dial allows selection of specific blending cycles. The Pulse switch provides momentary high-speed blending.
    • Drink Machine Two-Speed Model: Equipped with an On/Off switch and a High/Low switch for basic speed control.
  • Blending Tips:
    • Liquids and soft foods should be placed in the container first, followed by solid items and ice.
    • High speed is recommended for heavy-duty blending.
    • The container must be properly aligned on the centering pad of the motor base.
    • Always use a lid when blending. For hot ingredients, the two-part latching lid must be securely in place to allow steam to escape and prevent the lid from blowing off. Non-latching or one-piece lids should not be used with hot liquids.
    • When processing hot liquids, start at a low speed and gradually increase to high speed.
    • The tamper (for Two-Speed models) helps process thick mixtures by pushing ingredients onto the blades and releasing air bubbles. It should only be used with the lid locked in place and the lid plug removed, and the container should not be more than 2/3 full.
    • Processing times are generally reduced compared to other blenders due to the machine's speed.
  • Pre-programmed Settings (Drink Machine Advance):
    • Program #1 (Single Thin): 15 sec. blend time at 49% top speed for 12-24 oz frappes, frozen cocktails, and granita smoothies.
    • Program #2 (Double Thin): 21 sec. blend time at 49% top speed for 24-48 oz frappes, frozen cocktails, granita smoothies, and 12-16 oz hard pack milkshakes.
    • Program #3 (Thick Single Smoothie): 26 sec. blend time at 100% top speed for 12-24 oz frozen fruit or smooth ice smoothies.
    • Program #4 (Thick Single Smoothie): 32 sec. blend time at 100% top speed for 24-48 oz frozen fruit or smooth ice smoothies.
    • Program #5 (Hard Pack Shake): 25 sec. blend time at 87% top speed for 16-20 oz hard pack milkshakes.
    • Program #6 (Hard to blend): 45 sec. blend time at 100% top speed.
  • Programming with a Custom Chip (Advance Model): Allows for customization of pre-set programs using a programming chip or software kit. The chip is inserted into a port at the bottom of the machine.
  • Ingredient Temperature Ranges: Recommended for refrigerated ingredients at 38°F (3.3°C) and freezer ingredients at 0°F (-17.7°C). Blending ingredients above 41°F (5°C) or below 0°F (-17.7°C) is not recommended.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning:
    • Motor Base/Control Panel: Unplug the power cable. Gently wash the outside surface with a damp soft cotton cloth moistened with a mild solution of warm water and non-abrasive detergent. Never immerse the motor base in water. Ensure switches are clean and move freely to prevent damage.
    • Lid: Separate the lid and plug, wash in warm soapy water, rinse, and dry.
    • Container: For daily cleaning, fill 1/4 full with warm (43°C) water and a few drops of dishwashing liquid, run for 30 seconds, then empty. Rinse by filling 3/4 full with warm water and running for 30 seconds.
    • Sanitizing: After cleaning, fill 3/4 full with a sanitizing solution (1.5 tsp. 7.4 ml bleach in 2.0 L water), run on high speed for 30 seconds, let stand for 1.5 minutes, then pour out. Run the container empty for 5 seconds to air dry. Do not rinse after sanitizing.
    • Do not use abrasive cleaning agents, concentrated bleach, or cleaners containing Quaternary Sanitisers on containers.
    • Do not place containers in the freezer. Microwaving and automatic dishwashing are not recommended for Advance containers.
  • Troubleshooting:
    • Increased vibration/leaking/noise: Check blade assembly for loose, damaged, or nicked components; replace if necessary. Tighten the retainer nut.
    • Machine will not run: Ensure power cable is firmly in the socket, switches are clean and moving freely. Check if the thermal protector has shut off the machine.
    • Loud noise from blades/blades don't spin: Drive socket may be broken (check for crack or worn teeth) and may need replacement. Blade bearings may need replacement if blades do not spin freely.
    • Machine running irregularly/wrong program: Turn the machine off and on again to reset programming, or reset to original factory settings.
  • Drive Socket Inspection: Periodically inspect the drive socket for wear, cracks, or breaks. Replace if damaged.
  • Blade-Bearing Assembly: Manually rotate the blade-bearing assembly to ensure it turns without hesitation. Contact Vitamix for service if it hesitates or spins too freely.
  • Unplugging: Unplug the machine when not in use, before cleaning, or before touching moving parts.
