Overview

The VITEK VT-8188 Steam Mop is designed for washing and disinfecting floors and carpets, offering a versatile cleaning solution for various household surfaces.

Function Description

The steam mop operates by generating high-temperature steam to clean and sanitize. It features a control panel with two buttons: a steam release control button (20) to adjust steam supply and an on/off button (21). The indication panel (16) provides visual feedback on the operating mode with three LED indicators:

  • Power on/ready indicator (22): Lights red during preheating (approx. 25 seconds) and turns blue when the mop is ready for operation.
  • Low steam supply indicator (23): Lights blue for low steam mode.
  • High steam supply indicator (24): Lights blue for high steam mode, with both (23) and (24) glowing in this mode.

The unit is designed for ease of use, with an extension pipe (9) and handle (11) that click into place for assembly and can be detached by pressing release buttons (13, 15). The floor brush (1) also attaches to the body (3) with a release button (2) and features a large rotation angle (as shown in Fig. 5) for cleaning corners and low spaces under furniture.

For carpet cleaning, a dedicated frame (17) can be attached to the floor brush (1) with the microfiber cloth (18). This frame facilitates smooth gliding over carpets and prevents the cloth from slipping.

Usage Features

Filling the Water Tank:

The transparent water tank (7) allows for easy monitoring of the water level. To fill, press the release button (8) on the body (3) to remove the tank. Open the lid (6) by turning it counterclockwise, fill with clean water using the measuring cup (19), then close the lid by turning it clockwise. Reinstall the tank until it clicks. If the tank empties during operation, switch off the unit (21), unplug it (4), and refill. It is recommended to use tap water cleaned with domestic filters, or demineralized/distilled water to minimize scale buildup. Avoid carbonated water, perfume additives, toxic substances, acids, solvents, alcohol, descaling detergents, corrosive substances, explosives, or very hot objects.

Washing and Disinfecting Floors:

Attach the microfiber cloth (18) to the floor brush (1) by pressing the brush onto the cloth until the stickers adhere to the bars. Plug in the power cord (4) and press the on/off button (21). Once the power on/ready indicator (22) turns blue, the mop is ready. Adjust steam supply using button (20). For convenience, the power cord can be passed through the upper hook (10) to keep it out of the way.

Cleaning Carpets:

For carpets, attach the frame (17) to the floor brush (1) with the microfiber cloth (18). The frame helps the brush glide smoothly. Plug in the unit and wait for the ready indicator (22) to turn blue, then select the desired steam level with button (20). For freshening carpets, a mixture of water and carpet shampoo (1:1) can be sprayed on, left for 2 hours, then cleaned with the steam mop.

Safety Recommendations:

  • Always unwind the power cord completely before use.
  • Do not touch the unit body, power cord, or plug with wet hands.
  • Unplug the unit when the water tank is empty or after use.
  • Never leave the unit unattended when connected to the mains.
  • Avoid using near heat sources, open flames, or in the rain.
  • Do not use in bathrooms, near sinks, swimming pools, or where aerosols/flammable liquids are present.
  • If the unit falls into water, unplug it immediately before retrieving.
  • Do not direct steam at electrical appliances, sockets, or any part of the body of people or animals.
  • Wear suitable footwear when using the mop or changing accessories; avoid slippers or open-toe shoes.
  • The unit body can become very hot; avoid touching hot surfaces.
  • Do not use on leather, wax-polished furniture/floors, synthetic fabrics, velvet, or other steam-sensitive materials.
  • Do not use on unsealed hard floor surfaces. Always test on an isolated area first.
  • Place the unit vertically on a dry, moisture- and heat-resistant surface during operation and breaks.
  • Keep out of reach of children and disabled persons.
  • Do not allow children to play with packaging materials.

Maintenance Features

Cleaning and Care:

  • Switch off and unplug the unit.
  • Drain any remaining water from the tank (7).
  • Wipe the steam mop body with a damp cloth.
  • Allow the microfiber cloth (18) to cool before removing it from the brush.
  • The microfiber cloth (18) can be machine washed on a delicate cycle at a temperature not exceeding 60°C. Do not use bleach, fabric softeners, or rinses. It can be tumble-dried or hand-washed with mild detergent and dried horizontally.
  • Periodically wash the water tank to prevent water stagnation. To remove lime deposits, add 1-2 tablespoons of white vinegar to a full water tank, close the lid, shake well, then drain and rinse with clean water.

Replacing the Descaling Filter:

The unit includes a filter with special resins to prevent limescale and extend product life. It is recommended to replace the filter after 100 uses. To replace, disconnect the unit, remove the water tank (7) by pressing button (8), insert a new filter, ensuring it is perfectly seated, then reattach the water tank. Note that the filter may darken during use, which is normal and not a malfunction.

Storage:

After use, remove the water tank before switching off the power, and let the unit operate until steam stops. Then, switch off and unplug the unit. Follow cleaning and care instructions. Wind the power cord onto the storage hooks (10, 14). Store the mop vertically in a dry, cool place, out of reach of children.

Troubleshooting:

A troubleshooting guide is provided for common issues such as weak/no steam (empty tank, clogged nozzle, scale buildup) or the unit not turning on (no power supply, on/off button not pressed, blown fuse). For scale buildup in the boiler, service by an authorized center is required and is not covered by warranty. For persistent issues not listed, contact an authorized service center or customer support.
