The Vmax Fitness Pulser 2 is a whole-body vibration machine designed for both professional and home use, offering a variety of workout modes and vibration functions to cater to different fitness levels and goals. This machine features two built-in motors, enabling three distinct types of vibration: traditional triangular oscillating motion (seesaw motion), horizontal spiral motion (tri-planar motion), and a dual-motion combination of both. The oscillating motion provides vibration to the entire body, while the spiral vibration primarily targets the lower legs.
The Pulser 2 offers three primary operational modes: Manual Mode (M), Preset Mode (P1-P9), and User Defined Mode (U1-U3). Users can select their desired mode by rotating the MODE dial on the control panel, with the selected mode illuminating on the display. Once a mode is chosen, pressing the START button initiates the routine.
Manual Mode (M): This is the default mode upon powering up the machine. In Manual Mode, users have independent control over the full range of spiral and oscillation speed levels. This allows for a customized workout experience, where individuals can fine-tune the intensity of each vibration type to their preference. To engage this mode, simply press START after turning on the machine.
Preset Mode (P1-P9): The machine comes with nine pre-programmed automatic presets, each featuring a unique vibration pattern that lasts for 10 minutes. These presets utilize the full speed range of the machine, making them suitable for users who have already become comfortable with higher speed settings in Manual Mode. The presets are categorized by intensity: P1, P2, and P3 are beginner levels, reaching up to speed level 20 for both motions; P4, P5, and P6 are intermediate levels, going up to speed level 40; and P7, P8, and P9 are advanced levels, reaching up to speed level 60. Each speed interval within a preset lasts for 30 seconds, providing a varied and progressive workout.
User Defined Mode (U1-U3): For users who desire a highly personalized workout, the Pulser 2 offers three programmable slots (U1, U2, U3) to create customized vibration patterns. Each programmable routine can consist of up to 12 "steps." Each step allows the user to define an oscillation speed level (0-60), a spiral speed level (0-60), and a time interval for that specific step. To program a routine, users rotate the MODE dial to select a user-programmable slot, then press the PROG button to begin. The Time buttons are used to set the duration for the first step, and the oscillation and spiral dials adjust the respective speeds. Pressing PROG again moves to the next step, and the START/STOP button completes the current step and exits programming mode. This flexibility allows for the creation of routines tailored to specific needs and preferences.
The machine's vibration functions are designed to elicit different physiological responses depending on the speed range.
Oscillation Vibration (Speeds 1-20): At lower oscillation speeds, users can voluntarily control their muscles to maintain balance and stance. This range is excellent for warm-up, new users, circulation, balance and stability training, injury recovery, neuromuscular retraining, users with limited mobility, lymphatic drainage, and muscle relaxation.
Oscillation Vibration (Speeds 21-40): In this intermediate range, muscles contract and relax quickly, causing involuntary muscle stretch-reflexes. This is suitable for muscle strength training, coordination, muscle and skin toning, and weight management.
Oscillation Vibration (Speeds 41-60): At the highest oscillation speeds, muscle contractions and relaxations are extremely rapid, leading to intense involuntary muscle stretch-reflexes. This range is ideal for advanced muscle strength training, neurological stimulation, and intense muscle workouts.
Spiral Vibration (Speeds 1-20): Spiral vibration, being a fast tri-planar motion, causes involuntary muscle stretch-reflexes across all speed settings. The lower speed range is recommended for warm-up, balance and posture improvement, injury rehabilitation, post-surgery rehabilitation, neuromuscular retraining, users with sensitive physiologies, seniors or users with limited range of motion or heart conditions, muscle relaxation, and neurological stimulation.
Spiral Vibration (Speeds 21-40): This range is beneficial for muscle strength, bone and muscle strengthening, improving coordination, circulation, stretching, muscle tone, and massages.
Spiral Vibration (Speeds 41-60): The higher spiral speed range is designed for advanced training, intense bone and muscle strengthening, intense muscle workouts, lymphatic drainage, intense neurological stimulation, and professional and athletic training.
Dual Motion Vibration: The Pulser 2 achieves maximum power when both oscillation and spiral motors are activated. This dual-motion feature allows users to increase workout intensity without necessarily increasing the oscillation frequency. For example, to intensify muscle strength training (typically 21-40 oscillation speeds), users can activate spiral motion at a desired speed. Similarly, for massages (typically 21-40 spiral speeds), adding oscillation motion can introduce variation, with the oscillation speed being a matter of personal preference.
The machine also includes hand pull-up straps for upper body exercises and a Vmax DVD for guidance.
The Pulser 2 is designed with user safety and comfort in mind. New users are advised to start by standing on the machine without performing major exercises, ensuring knees are slightly bent, feet are shoulder-width apart, and maintaining a straight back and good posture. Beginning in Manual Mode with oscillation and/or spiral speeds below 20 is recommended, gradually increasing speed as comfort allows. The intensity of oscillation vibration is affected by feet spacing: wider stance increases intensity, while closer feet reduce it. Spiral vibration intensity, however, remains unaffected by feet spacing.
The principle of Whole Body Vibration (WBV) works best when muscles are bearing weight. Simple routines can include basic standing, squats, stretches, and deep squats. The machine aims to accelerate exercise, allowing more to be accomplished in a 10-minute session. Holding dumbbells can further increase muscle workload.
For advanced training, users can extend exercise duration to 30-60 seconds per routine, perform exercises in motion or with rotation (e.g., push-ups on the platform), engage in single-limb exercises (e.g., one-legged squats), and increase load by adding free weights or resistance bands. Experimenting with different speeds is encouraged to target various organs, muscles, and bones. It's important to avoid exercises that require resting the spine on the platform. A towel or mat can be used for added comfort. Users should always start at a lower speed and gradually increase it, stopping if sharp pain or dizziness occurs, rehydrating, and resting.
Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of the Vmax Pulser 2.
