The VocalMist Portable Nebulizer (Model: VocalMist 1st Gen) is a compact medical device designed for nebulization, primarily for adults, with supervision recommended for the elderly, infants, and children. Its core function is to convert liquid saline into a fine mist for inhalation, aiming to provide hydration and topical treatment to the respiratory system, including the mouth, throat, trachea, and larynx. The device utilizes a micro-metal mesh oscillation mechanism, driven by a piezoelectric ceramic transducer chip, which rapidly oscillates to send liquid through the metal mesh, creating tiny atomized particles (approximately 3µm) for inhalation.
Usage Features:
The nebulizer is designed for ease of use, with clear instructions for preparation, liquid injection, and nebulization. Before each use, all components, including the saline cup and spray nozzle, must be cleaned and disinfected. To prepare for use, the grey cap of the saline cup is turned counter-clockwise to open, saline is added, and then the cap is screwed back on. It is crucial not to exceed the maximum capacity indicated on the saline cup scale.
Nebulization begins by pressing the ON/OFF button. During operation, the nebulizer should be held upright to ensure continuous contact between the liquid and the nebulization mesh. While slight movement is acceptable, vigorous shaking should be avoided as it can lead to condensation buildup on the mesh, potentially stopping mist production. The device offers three inhalation methods: direct inhalation, using a mouthpiece, or using a mask, allowing users to choose based on individual needs.
The nebulizer operates for 10 minutes before automatically shutting down. If further use is required, the ON/OFF key can be pressed again, provided there is sufficient saline in the liquid cup. After nebulization, the device is turned off by pressing the ON/OFF key, and any residual liquid should be poured out and not reused. It is important to keep quiet and relaxed during hydration treatment for optimal results.
The device is powered by an inbuilt lithium titanate battery and can also be operated with an AC adapter. When the battery is low, a green indicator light flashes, signaling the need for charging. A full charge takes approximately 1 hour and provides about 60 minutes of operation. The device is not intended for use with oils, esters, or suspended particles, including herbal extracts, as these can damage the unit. Medication use requires a doctor's approval, and the device is specifically designed for use with isotonic saline ONLY.
Maintenance Features:
Proper cleaning and disinfection are critical for the nebulizer's longevity and user safety. After each use, the saline cup, spray nozzle, suction mask, and other accessories should be disassembled and cleaned. The components should be washed with warm pure water (not exceeding 40°C) for about 5 minutes. A clean medical gauze should be used to dry them thoroughly. The shell of the device can be cleaned with a disinfectant wipe. The unit itself cannot be washed and must be kept away from water, especially the USB connector, to prevent damage.
For disinfection, the cup module (including the nozzle), liquid cup cover, mouthpiece, masks, and other parts can be placed in 40°C maximum water, medical disinfectants, or distilled water for daily disinfection. Soaking all parts in 40°C maximum water/medical disinfectant for 30 minutes, along with non-toxic cleaners, is recommended, followed by rinsing. After rinsing, water should be wiped from the device with a clean medical gauze. The surface of the mask and nozzle should then be wiped with 75% medical alcohol, disinfected, thoroughly dried, and stored. It is important to ensure that disinfectant residues are thoroughly cleaned for safe subsequent use. Distilled water or purified water that has been filtered several times should not be used for cleaning.
Storage conditions are also specified to ensure the device's lifespan. The nebulizer and its accessories should be stored in a dry and clean place, avoiding high temperatures, humidity, direct sunlight, and corrosive gases. After cleaning and disinfection, all components should be stored in the packing box. The device has a valid storage life of 5 years.
In case of low nebulization, users should confirm that the cup is filled only with saline and tilt the unit to ensure liquid contact with the spray mesh. If the spray mesh is blocked by minerals, a solution of 2-3 drops of white vinegar in 3-6ml warm water can be nebulized, followed by rinsing and drying the saline cup. If any irregularities occur during use, users should refer to the "Troubleshooting" section of the manual or contact the service center for maintenance, as personal repair attempts are not recommended. The device should not be stored in wet or dusty environments, dropped, or subjected to strong impacts. Disassembly, repair, or modification by unauthorized personnel is prohibited to prevent electric shock, leakage, or fire. Used batteries and accessories should be disposed of according to local environmental regulations.
