Roof bed*
General
description
The
roof bed offers space
for two
persons.
If
small children are
to
sleep
in the
roof bed,
a
safety
net
which
is
available from your
Volkswagen
dealer must
be
attached.
Warning
For
safety
reasons,
the
vehicle
may
not be
driven
with
a
raised
roof.
The
roof
must
be
com-
pletely
closed
and
secured.
No
passengers should
be in the
roof
bed
whilst
the
vehicle
is in
motion.
If a
safety
net is not
available
for
the
roof
bed,
small
children
must
not use the bed.
How
do you
climb
up to the
roof
bed?
Move
the
front
seats
to
the driving position
and
ensure
that
they are properly engaged.
Step
up
carefully onto
the
seat area
of the
front
seat (never step onto
the
arm rest
or
head
restraint!) and support yourself on
the
bed
surface when "climbing up"
to
the roof
bed.
In a
pop-up
roof,
please
never
use
the gas
struts
on the
side
to
climb
up
to
or
down
from
the
roof
bed. the
gas
struts
could
be
damaged.
It may
well
be no
longer
possible
to
close
the
pop up
roof
as a
result.
What
should
be
noted
when
climb-
ing
down
from
the
roof
bed?
In order
to
avoid personal injury
or
damage
to
the
interior equipment, please never
jump down from
the
bed onto
the
seats
or
the cover. You should climb down carefully.
Do
not
step
on the
armrests
or
head
re-
straints!

Raising
bed
panel
When
the
roof
has
been raised
the
front
section
of the bed
panel can
be
swung
up
and
secured
on the
pop-up roof. This pro-
vides
more headroom
in the
living
area.
Warning
Check
whether
the
retaining
strap
is
secured
properly
by
pul-
ling
on the bed
panel.
Move
unlocking button (left-hand illustra-
tion)
to
the
right
to
fold the bed panel down.
'The
bed
panel must
always
be
swung
down
before
closing
the
roof
otherwise
the
roof
cannot
be
closed
or could
be
damaged.
Removing
bed
panel
The
bed
panel
can be
removed
if it is not
needed
by
lifting
it out
toward
the
front
in
folded
up
state.
The
panel
can
then
be
moved
to the
rear
of the bed, but the
roof
may
then
not be
closed.
Installing
bed
panel
Lift
front
end
of
bed panel and insert
with
the sheet metal tabs in both openings in
the
bottom
of the
rear bed section (see illustra-
tion). Then lay cushion on bed panel so
that
the roof can
be
properly
closed.
