Overview

The VOR-10 Touch Screen is an HMI (Human-Machine Interface) device designed for use with BMS (Building Management Systems) or PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) controllers that support HTML5 graphics. It serves as a user interface for these systems, providing a touch-sensitive display for interaction.

Function Description:

The VOR-10 Touch Screen acts as a display and input device for various control systems. It is compatible with a range of devices including iSMA MAC36, EasyI/O, JACE, TREND, DEOS, Cylon, Innotech Omni, and other devices that utilize HTML5 web pages. The screen is available in two mounting formats: VOR-10-PS for surface mount and VOR-10-PF for flush mount. It runs on Android 10 and features a dedicated "Vorex App" for connecting to target devices. The Vorex App allows users to configure network connection types (http/https), IP addresses, port numbers, and connection timeout settings. The device is supplied with a Kiosk Mode enabled by default, which restricts the device to running only the Vorex App, ensuring a secure and focused operation.

Usage Features:

The VOR-10 Touch Screen is designed for ease of use and integration into control systems.

  • Capacitive Touch: A capacitive touch membrane provides accurate and responsive touch input.
  • Vorex App: The primary interface for connecting to target devices. It allows configuration of:
    • http/https: Choice between secure (https) and standard (http) network connection types.
    • IP Address: Default is 192.168.10.11, changeable via the on-screen keypad.
    • Port Number: Default port for connection, also changeable.
    • Parameters Field: For entering additional URL parameters (e.g., /ng/).
    • Timer Seconds: Configurable time delay (in seconds) for establishing connection to the target device, important for devices with long boot times like heavily loaded JACE controllers.
  • Connection Status: The Vorex App displays "Connecting..." with a rotating symbol until a connection is established or a timeout error occurs.
  • Kiosk Mode: By default, the device operates in Kiosk Mode, running only the Vorex App. This enhances security by preventing unauthorized access to other Android functions.
  • Disabling Kiosk Mode: To access the main Android settings (e.g., to change network settings), Kiosk Mode must be temporarily disabled. This involves a specific sequence of rapid 7-finger taps on a blank part of the screen to bring up a PIN dialogue box. The default PIN is 4125. Once disabled, users can access Android settings like Network & Internet to configure Ethernet IP Mode (Static or DHCP), IP Address, Gateway, Subnet, and DNS servers.
  • Adding Kiosk Apps: Users can install their own .APK apps by loading them onto a USB flash drive and selecting them via the device's file manager. However, it is crucial to remove both the Vorex app and the Fully Single Kiosk app before installing other kiosk apps to avoid locking the screen.
  • Date/Time Settings: The screen's date and time can be adjusted via the System settings, with options to use network-provided time, set date, time, time zone, and 12hr/24hr display.
  • Screen Saver / Sleep Modes: It is recommended to disable all screen savers or sleep modes when using the Fully Single Kiosk App to prevent the screen from locking or becoming unresponsive.

Maintenance Features:

  • Warranty: Vorex screens and components are guaranteed for 12 months from the date of purchase, covering faults under correct usage and installation.
  • Returns for Credit: Items can be returned for credit, subject to inspection. Unopened, undamaged packaging incurs a 15% restocking fee, while opened, undamaged packaging incurs a 25% fee. Special order or non-stock screens are not accepted for credit.
  • RMA Process: Before returning a screen, an RMA (Returned Material Authorisation) must be obtained by emailing sales@vorexscreens.co.uk.
  • Protective Film: A protective film is applied to the screen surface and should only be removed upon system handover.
  • Installation Recommendations: For panels that are to be shipped, it is strongly recommended to remove the screen and pack it in its original box inside the panel, then refit it on-site to prevent damage.
  • Kiosk PIN Reset: If the Kiosk PIN is forgotten, the device must be returned to Vorex Screens for a complete reset. Issues arising from incorrect Kiosk App usage are not covered under warranty.
