INSTRUCTIONS : INVISILED™ PALETTE & AURA – 24V
Models Series : LED-TC
CAUTION:
Read all instructions before installing.
Always turn off power at fuse box prior to installation to prevent electrical shock.
Intended for indoor use. Dry and damp locations.
For installation by a qualified electrician.
System is intended for installation in accordance with National Electric Code, and local regulations.
Consult with local inspector to assure compliance.
INVISILED™ Palette & Aura Tape Lights have polarity for connection.
If a 1/2”x1/2” or greater cove or channel is not built-in, a Retrofit Channel may be necessary to conceal the tape
lights or provide an extended surface for mounting or directing the light.
Wiring and Installation:
Please refer to installation diagrams shown on next page.
1. Determine the number of separately powered runs needed. Calculate the number of power supplies.
Min. / max. run length
6 inch / 40 ft per run
Current
100 mA/ft
Power consumption
1.5 Watts/ft
2. Measure the length of each run and round it off to the nearest 6-inch interval. Determine the necessary
quantities of 1-ft, 5-ft.
3. Count the number of turns in the runs.
4. If making lateral turns at angles other than 90°, determine the number of joiner cables necessary to make
the lateral angles.
5. Connect the DC power supply to incoming 120V supply.
Hard Wire
DC power supply must be installed away from heat sources and accessible for service
Enclosed DC power supply is UL listed. The power supply box has a separate line volt, and
low volt wiring compartments. Trade size knock out are provided on both compartments.
Connect building wires to like color DC power supply wires with wire nuts. Building ground
wire my be green or un-insulated, and attaches to green wire from DC power supply box.
Portable
24 Volts DC power supply plugs into standard 120 Volts 3 prong grounded outlet
Power supply must be installed away from heat sources
Class II output splices do not require enclosures
6. Connect the output of the DC power supply with the WAC controller (refer to the picture in the next page),
then connect the 5 pins female connector of the controller to the 5 pins male connector of the InvisiLED
tape, to form straight lines or bend lengthwise around the installation surface;
7. Connect remaining sections using 1-ft and 5-ft sections of tape light or connectors. 6inch LED sections may
be cut where indicated at the end of the run only.
8. On smooth surfaces, the included adhesive is sufficient in most applications. However if mounting surface
is a porous or textured surface, then use a Mounting Clip every 6 inches to reinforce the installation.
9. Terminate each separately powered run with an end cap. Cut end caps or male end caps are the available
choices for cut or uncut sections respectively.

Overview

This document provides installation instructions for the INVISILED™ PALETTE & AURA – 24V LED-TC lighting system. It covers both hard-wire and portable configurations, offering guidance on planning, installation, and general usage.

Function Description

The INVISILED™ PALETTE & AURA system is a 24V LED tape light solution designed for various indoor lighting applications. It is intended to provide flexible and customizable illumination, suitable for both residential and commercial settings. The system utilizes LED tape lights that can be configured in straight lines, around bends, and at various angles to fit specific installation surfaces. It operates on a 24V DC power supply, which can be connected to a standard 120V AC input. The system is designed for installation by a qualified electrician to ensure compliance with the National Electric Code and local regulations.

Usage Features

Planning and Configuration:

  • Run Length Calculation: Users must first determine the number of separately powered runs required for their installation. The system specifies a maximum run length of 40 feet per 6-inch section.
  • Power Supply Calculation: Based on the total run length and the power consumption of 1.5 Watts/ft (or 100 mA/ft current), the number of necessary power supplies can be calculated.
  • Length Measurement and Rounding: Each run length should be measured and rounded off to the nearest 6-inch interval to facilitate the use of 1-ft and 5-ft tape light sections.
  • Turn and Angle Planning: The number of turns in the runs needs to be counted. For lateral turns at angles other than 90°, additional joiner cables may be required to achieve the desired angles.
  • Retrofit Channel: If the installation surface lacks a built-in 1/2"x1/2" or greater cove or channel, a Retrofit Channel may be necessary. This channel helps conceal the tape lights, provides an extended mounting surface, and can assist in directing the light.
  • Polarity: The INVISILED™ Palette & Aura Tape Lights have polarity for connection, which must be observed during installation.

Installation Process:

  • Power Supply Connection: The DC power supply connects to the incoming 120V supply.
    • Hard-Wire Configuration: For hard-wire setups, the DC power supply must be installed away from heat sources and be accessible for service. The UL-listed enclosed DC power supply box features separate line volt and low volt wiring compartments with trade-size knockouts. Building wires are connected to like-color DC power supply wires using wire nuts. The building ground wire (green or un-insulated) attaches to the green wire from the DC power supply box.
    • Portable Configuration: For portable setups, the 24V DC power supply plugs into a standard 120V 3-prong grounded outlet. Similar to hard-wire, the power supply must be installed away from heat sources. Class II output splices do not require enclosures in this configuration.
  • Controller and Tape Light Connection: The output of the DC power supply connects to the WAC controller. The 5-pin female connector of the controller then connects to the 5-pin male connector of the InvisiLED tape lights. This forms straight lines or allows for bending lengthwise around the installation surface.
  • Extending Runs: Remaining sections of the tape light system are connected using 1-ft and 5-ft sections or connectors. 6-inch LED sections can be cut only where indicated at the end of a run.
  • Mounting: For smooth surfaces, the included adhesive is generally sufficient. However, if the mounting surface is porous or textured, a Mounting Clip should be used every 6 inches to reinforce the installation.
  • Termination: Each separately powered run must be terminated with an end cap. Cut end caps or male end caps are available options for cut or uncut sections, respectively.

Safety Features:

  • Indoor Use: The system is intended for indoor use in dry and damp locations.
  • Professional Installation: Installation by a qualified electrician is recommended to ensure proper setup and adherence to safety standards.
  • Code Compliance: The system is designed to be installed in accordance with the National Electric Code and local regulations. Consulting with a local inspector is advised to ensure compliance.
  • Power Disconnection: Always turn off power at the fuse box prior to installation to prevent electrical shock.

Maintenance Features

  • Accessibility for Service: For hard-wire installations, the DC power supply must be installed in an accessible location to facilitate future service or adjustments.
  • Heat Source Avoidance: Both hard-wire and portable DC power supplies must be installed away from heat sources to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  • Instructions Retention: Users are advised to retain the provided instructions for future service and adjustments, which may include troubleshooting or modifications to the lighting system.
