Overview

The Sanismart Plus is an automatic sewage (toilet) and wastewater collection tank with an electrically operated macerator pump system. It is designed for the disposal of sewage, water-soluble toilet paper, and wastewater, specifically for domestic "SECONDARY" use. This means it is not intended as the sole means of sewage and wastewater disposal from a dwelling, requiring an alternative system to be available. It is also not designed as a sanitary waste disposal unit or a kitchen waste macerator unit.

Function Description:

The Sanismart Plus pump collects gravity-fed waste liquid into its collection tank. When a set water level is reached, a micro-pressure switch inside the tank automatically activates a powerful, quiet pump equipped with a special cutting system and impeller. This system delivers effluent under pressure through a 25 mm internal diameter PVC pressure pipe. Due to the small pipe size, the delivery can be routed virtually anywhere, including through walls, ceiling spaces, under floors, and around obstacles. The unit enables the installation of various amenities where traditional plumbing might be difficult or impossible due to economic constraints, physical limitations, or existing concrete structures.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Power Supply: 230V, 50Hz, 1Ph. Must be connected through a residual current device (RCD) as per current regulations, with an isolator and suitable overload/surge protection. The apparatus must be earthed.
  • Motor: High quality 2900 rpm motor.
  • Nominal Current: 2.2 amps.
  • Motor Input: 0.5 kW.
  • Cable: 1.5 meters of 3-core cable, supplied with a standard 3-pin domestic earthed plug.
  • Maximum Wastewater Temperature: 40°C.
  • Maximum Wastewater Flow: 35 litres/min. Flows exceeding this rate require consultation with Wallace Pumps.
  • Pump Delivery Pipe: 25 mm PVC pressure pipe.
  • Shower/Bath Waste Connection Height: Minimum 180mm from the base floor level to the shower tray waste discharge point.
  • Inlet Connections: One toilet pan connection, two lower-level side inlets (40mm) for shower/bath, and one optional top inlet (40mm) for higher-level amenities like hand basins or sinks.
  • Vent Connection: 40 mm moulded vent connection with carbon for localized venting. If outside venting is required, the carbon vent holder and floating ball assembly must be removed. A 40mm PVC slab repair connector is provided for this purpose. An air admittance valve (e.g., "Hunter Valve") must not be used in the vent pipe.
  • Overload Protection: Built-in automatic motor overload. In case of a trip, the pump will not restart automatically and must be manually reset.

Usage Features:

  • Applications: Suitable for basement toilet and bathroom facilities, relocated bathrooms where gravity fall is not possible, re-developed bathrooms, and master bedroom en-suites.
  • Connections: Can connect a toilet pan and up to three additional fixtures (bath, shower, vanity, laundry tub, domestic clothes washing machine/dishwasher, domestic kitchen sink) provided they are on the same floor level and area as the unit.
  • Manual Run/Reset Button: Located on the pump cover, allows manual motor operation when held down and resets the unit after a trip or alarm activation.
  • Pump Operational Logic:
    • Starts when sensor contacts are closed, operating for a maximum of ten cycles (30 sec ON, 5 sec OFF).
    • If sensor contacts remain closed after ten cycles, the pump stops, power supply is cut, an internal alarm sounds, and normally closed (N/C) Volts Free Contacts close (activating an external alarm system if connected).
    • If the impeller jams (e.g., due to inappropriate items), the motor enters a locked rotor scenario, causing the pump to stop, power supply to be cut, an internal alarm to sound, and N/C Volts Free Contacts to close.
  • Flooding Protection (Recommended): An overflow relief pipe plumbed to a safe and visible area is essential. Wallace Pumps also offers an "Alarm system with water supply shut off via solenoid valve/s" to amenities producing wastewater, which can help prevent flooding by closing water supply valves when an alarm is triggered. This system requires a Water Monitor Unit and 24V AC solenoid valve/s.

Maintenance Features:

  • Installation Requirements: Must be installed by a registered plumber and electrician in a dry, weatherproof, non-floodable location with easy access for operation, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Servicing: Regular servicing is crucial for the unit's expected lifetime. This should be performed by a Wallace Pump's authorized Service Agent or a qualified technician.
  • Service Intervals: Maximum 6 months for heavy usage, and 1 year for light to medium usage.
  • Maintenance Tasks:
    • Clean the interior of the collection tank and dip tube.
    • Check pump start/stop levels and pump-out performance.
    • Check for abnormal noise or operation.
    • Record any changed/replaced parts.
  • Impeller Jam Clearing: A 10mm Hex Key (Allen Key) is supplied to unblock the impeller by rotating the motor from the fan end.
  • Warning Labels: Provided to warn against dumping inappropriate non-organic products into the pump.
  • Warranty: 2 years from the date of purchase against manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship, provided the unit is installed, operated, and maintained according to the manual and local regulations. Flooding or damage from poor installation, un-authorised modifications, or use of non-supplied fittings is not covered.
