A permit may be required. Check with the plumbing and drainage and the electrical inspectors before installation.

Local regulations may stipulate additional installation requirements.

AFTER INSTALLATION, THE INSTALLER MUST HAND THIS MANUAL TO THE OWNER FOR THE PROPER

OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE OF THE UNIT. Failure to do so will result in the installer being liable under

current legislation for future claims resulting from incorrect operation or servicing.

The UNI-SAN is an automatic wastewater collection tank with an electrically operated pump, designed for domestic use. It is not suitable for commercial applications or for pumping raw sewage from toilets. The unit collects gravity-fed wastewater and automatically pumps it under pressure to a desired location, typically a gulley trap or soil stack, through a 25 mm internal diameter pipe. Its compact size and pump pressure allow the delivery pipe to be run virtually anywhere, including through walls, ceilings, under floors, and around obstacles.

Function Description:

The UNI-SAN collects wastewater from various sources such as laundry tubs, sinks (with or without waste disposal units), washing machines, dishwashers, bar facilities, baths, showers, vanities, air conditioning condensate, dehumidifier water, and floor waste gully traps. When the water level in the collection tank reaches a set point, an internal level switch activates the pump to discharge the effluent. The pump is designed to handle solids up to 10 mm in diameter that can pass through a plumbing trap and waste strainer.

Power Supply: 230 Volts, 50 Hz, single phase.
Motor Output: 0.4 kW.
Current: 2.45 amps FLC.
Motor Speed: 2900 rpm (2 pole).
Cable: 1.5 metres of 3-core cable, supplied with the unit.
Connection Plug: Standard 3-pin domestic earthed plug, supplied with the unit.
Maximum Inflow Rate: Must not exceed 35 litres per minute.
Maximum Water Temperatures: 60°C continuous, 95°C intermittent.
Pipework Sizes (Nominal Internal Diameters):
- Drain from shower/bath to Bottom Inlet Valve(s): 32-50mm Waste Pipe.
- Drain from vanity/laundry to valve socket(s): 40-50mm Waste Pipe.
- Drain from kitchen sink to valve socket: 40-50mm Waste Pipe.
- Drain from Floor Waste Gully Trap: 50-100mm Waste Pipe.
- Vent from UNI-SAN: 32 mm Waste Pipe.
- Pump Delivery from UNI-SAN: 25 mm PVC, Class B/D/4.5 Pressure Pipe.
Pump Activation Levels: ON at 200 mm from the bottom of the tank, OFF at 60 mm from the bottom of the tank.
Overflow Pipe: Recommended maximum height of 900mm from the base of the tank to the lowest overflow point.

Usage Features:

Versatile Installation: Can be installed in various locations where gravity fall to existing sewer connections is not possible, such as basement facilities, relocated domestic amenities, master bedroom en-suites (without toilet), executive bars and showers, and re-developed apartment blocks.
Multiple Entry Options: The collection tank offers multiple entry options for waste pipes on its four walls or top.
Flexible Delivery Pipe: Three alternative directions for the delivery pipe allow for flexible pipe-out configurations.
Dry Mounted Motor: The pump and motor unit are dry mounted, making them easier to clean and service, and more reliable.
Vortex Impeller Design: Allows the pump to pass hair, lint, fibre, tea bags, etc., without blocking.
Overload Protection: Built-in automatically resetting motor overload protection.
Quiet Operation: The quiet motor makes it suitable for installations where noise is a concern.
Warning Labels: Supplied to be affixed on appropriate fixtures and appliances to prevent inappropriate discharges.

Maintenance Features:

Easy Access: The unit features an inspection lid (screw-in type with o-ring seal) for easy access to internal components for servicing.
Simple Cleaning: The external surface can be cleaned with a damp cloth and dishwashing detergent. For internal cleaning, a solution of household detergent or bleach can be poured into the tank through the inspection lid and flushed with clean water.
Regular Servicing: Recommended at regular intervals by a qualified technician, maximum every 12 months, or more frequently for high usage.
Fault Finding Chart: A comprehensive chart is provided in the manual to assist in diagnosing and resolving common issues.
Isolation and Disconnection: Emphasized for safety during any servicing work, ensuring the power supply is off and no liquid flows into the unit.
Replaceable Parts: Components like the float level switch are replaceable.
Warranty: 2-year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship, provided the unit is installed, operated, and maintained according to the manual and local regulations.

Important Considerations:

A permit or consent may be required for installation; local plumbing and drainage inspectors should be consulted.
The unit must be earthed and protected by a fuse or ELCB.
Do not use air admittance valves (e.g., "Hunter Valve") for tank venting.
Avoid discharging acids, solvents, paints, thinners, petroleum products, corrosive/abrasive liquids, or excessive fats into the unit.
An overflow relief pipe is recommended for emergencies to prevent flooding.
The unit must be protected from freezing conditions.
Modifications not described in the manual or without written authorization will nullify the warranty.
