PRUNER
CHAIN TENSION
Periodically during use, check the tension of the chain. It is important to maintain proper chain tension. Incorrect chain
tension can cause the guide bar to wear and the chain to come o. To check the chain tension:
Switch the engine o
Wear work gloves
The chain must fit snugly against the underside of the guide bar.
You should be able to pull the chain away from the guide bar, 5-6mm or pull the chain along the guide bar by hand.
A new chain has to be tensioned more o
en than an older chain that has been used for some
me.
CHAIN SHARPENING
A well sharpened chain will provide many cuts, with very li
le eort. Do not work with a dull or damaged chain, due to it
increasing the eort required from the user, provide poor results and a higher rate of wear. Please regularly:
Clean the chain
Check for cracks in the link and damaged rivets
Replace damaged or worn components of the chain and ensure new parts match the speci on of the original
chain.
If your chain needs sharpening, a 5/32” chainle should be used. We recommend the use of Handy Parts HP-106 or
alterna
vely, contact your local Approved Dealer to undertake the sharpening. Incorrectly sharpened chains can
increase the risk of Kickback, with resu
ng injuries.
A new chain should be broken in for about 2-3 minutes. A er this period of me, check the chain tension.
CHAIN LUBRICATION
For eec
ve and reliable opera n of your Pruner A achment, ensure you use specifically formulated and designed
Chainsaw Oil. Never use a chain without lubrica
n, if used dry the a
achment could be irretrievably damaged within a
short
e.
Toll the oil tank, thoroughly clean the oil filler cap and the area around it to ensure that no dirt fails inside the tank .
Pos
on the a achment so that the tank opening faces up. Fill with chain oil, being careful not to spill or overfill. Clean
up any overspill.
To check that the chain is being lubricated suciently, it must always throw some oil o. Run the machine at medium
speed over cardboard or newspaper. The machine will deposit oil onto the cardboard or newspaper if opera
ng
correctly.
A ach use clean any oil or saw dust out of the area under the plas over with a brush or compressed air. Be
especially sure to clean out the oil duct.
