This document describes the Westinghouse WKCM621 series coffee maker, available in models WKCM621SS, WKCM621BK, and WKCM621WH. It is a filter coffee maker designed for household use, capable of brewing up to 10 cups of coffee from 1.25 liters of water.
Function Description:
The coffee maker's primary function is to brew filter coffee. It features a permanent filter (2) for reusable convenience, but also accommodates regular paper coffee filters (size 1x4). Once brewing is complete, an automatic hot plate (8) keeps the coffee warm for up to 40 minutes. A "pause-and-pour" function allows users to temporarily remove the coffee pot (7) to serve a cup before the brewing cycle is finished, with the appliance pausing and resuming when the pot is replaced (ensure the pot is not removed for more than 30 seconds). The appliance is operated via an ON/OFF switch (9) which illuminates when the coffee maker is on.

Safety Precautions during Use:
- Always use the appliance for its intended purpose to avoid electric shock, fire, or serious injury.
- Do not immerse the coffee maker, power cord, or plug in water or other liquids.
- Keep the coffee maker and power cord out of reach of children (under 8 years old) as hot coffee can cause scalds.
- Ensure the lid is fully closed and the coffee pot is on the hot plate before switching on.
- Never operate the appliance without water or with an empty coffee pot on a hot plate.
- Use caution when pouring hot coffee; pour slowly and do not over-tilt the pot to prevent splashes.
- Do not open the lid during the brewing process.
- The appliance is not a toy; children must be supervised.
Maintenance Features:
General Cleaning:
- Always unplug the appliance and let it cool before cleaning.
- Do not immerse the coffee maker, power cord, or plug in water.
- Do not use solvents, chemical/abrasive cleaning agents, wire brushes, sharp objects, or scouring pads.
- No part of the appliance is dishwasher safe.
- After each use, open the lid (4), remove and discard used coffee grounds and paper filter (if used). Remove any leftover coffee from the pot (7).
- Clean the filter (1/2) and coffee pot (7) with a soft cloth, warm water, and mild detergent. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
- Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker and the interior of the filter compartment with a soft, damp cloth and mild detergent solution, then dry completely.
- Periodically rinse the water tank (5) with cold water. The water tank is not removable; tip the appliance to empty it or run a brewing cycle with empty filters. Do not clean the water tank with a cloth or detergent to avoid residues that could clog the coffee maker.
Descaling:
Descaling is crucial for proper function and longevity.
- Frequency: Every 3 months for soft water areas, or monthly for hard water areas.
- Commercial Descaling Solution: Choose a descaler suitable for plastic coffee makers and follow package instructions. Ensure thorough rinsing afterward.
- White Vinegar Method:
- Open the lid (4).
- Fill the water tank (5) to the MAX level with a 50% water and 50% white vinegar solution (increase vinegar for heavily scaled machines).
- Ensure the coffee pot (7) and empty filters (1/2) are in place.
- Press the ON/OFF switch (9) to 'I' to start brewing.
- After brewing 2 cups, press the ON/OFF switch (9) to 'O' and let the solution stand for 15 minutes.
- Repeat steps 4 and 5 until the water tank is empty.
- Fill the water tank with fresh water and brew at least 3 times to remove any vinegar traces.
- Tips to Reduce Scale Buildup: Empty the water tank after each use, do not leave water overnight, and use filtered water instead of tap or mineral water.
Storage:
Always clean the appliance before long-term storage. Store it in its original packaging in a cool, dust-free, dry environment away from direct sunlight.
Disposal:
The product should not be disposed of with other household waste in the EU. It should be recycled responsibly to promote sustainable reuse of material resources. Contact local collection systems or the retailer for environmentally safe recycling.
