Usage Features:
- Custom Transducers: Typhon models feature custom Wharfedale Pro transducers. The compression driver has a 1.75” voice coil coupled to a 100° x 80° waveguide for smooth HF dispersion. The LF transducers utilize newly designed ferrite cores and flat coil windings for enhanced cooling.
- Moisture-Resistant Cones: All models incorporate a moisture-rejecting cone material, allowing for use in damp or humid conditions.
- Polypropylene Cabinet: The injection-moulded polypropylene cabinet design, combined with a full frontal steel grill, ensures durability and protection.
- Ergonomic Handles: Carefully engineered with multiple carry handles (5 on larger models, 4 on smaller ones) for easy and well-balanced transportation.
- DSP Modes: Four DSP modes (FLAT, MONITOR, BASS, PUNCH) are available, selectable via the D-EQ button, to optimize sound for different applications.
- 90Hz Hi Pass Filter: Reduces bass buildup, particularly useful when the speaker is used as a floor monitor.
- Horn LED Defeat: Allows the front horn power LED to be switched off for discrete applications.
- Flexible Inputs: Features XLR and 1/4" input jacks for INPUT A and INPUT B, accommodating microphones, analogue playback devices, keyboards, or mixer outputs. AX8/AX8-BT models also include RCA inputs for stereo line-level audio sources.
- Output Options: An XLR line-level OUTPUT connector provides a balanced signal for connecting additional active loudspeakers, powered subwoofers, or external amplifiers. The "LOOP / MIX" switch allows routing of INPUT B's signal (LOOP mode, bypassing EQ and volume) or combined signals of INPUT A and B (MIX mode) to the output.
- Monitor Wedge Adaptor: Typhon is supplied with an adaptor to achieve the perfect angle when used as a stage monitor.
Bluetooth Operation (BT models only):
- MONO Mode: Simple pairing with a single speaker by pressing and releasing the PAIR button and selecting "Wharfedale Pro BT" on the device.
- STEREO Link Mode (TWS): For use with two Typhon -BT loudspeakers. Press and hold the PAIR button on each speaker until the ST LED blinks, then link them. One speaker is then paired with the mobile device and acts as the left channel.
- Transmission Distance: Approximately 15 meters for a single speaker in MONO mode, and about 10 meters from the Bluetooth device to the speaker in STEREO link mode, with linked speakers up to 8 meters apart.
