Why are my clothes not drying in my Whirlpool 7MWGD7120LW?
    • J
      Julie JohnsonAug 15, 2025
Several factors can cause clothes to not dry properly in your Whirlpool dryer. The lint screen might be clogged and should be cleaned before each load. You may have selected the Air Only (No Heat) temperature setting or cycle or the load might be too large, so separate it to allow items to tumble freely. Check that the exhaust vent or outside exhaust hood is not clogged with lint, restricting air movement. Also, ensure you're using only one fabric softener sheet, using it only once, as these can block the grill. The exhaust vent should be the correct length and diameter (4" (102 mm)), and the room temperature should be above 45ºF (7ºC). Finally, if the dryer is in a closet, make sure there are adequate ventilation openings.

What to do if my Whirlpool 7MWGD7120LW Dryer won't start?
    • C
      Christopher AyersAug 18, 2025
If your Whirlpool dryer isn't running, first ensure the door is completely closed. Then, press and hold the PUSH TO START knob firmly until you hear the dryer drum moving. Check your household fuses or circuit breakers, as electric dryers use two. Replace both fuses or reset the circuit breaker. Electric dryers need a 220-240 V power supply, so verify this with an electrician. Also, ensure you are using a time-delay fuse.

Why is my Whirlpool 7MWGD7120LW Dryer making unusual sounds?
    • G
      graystephanieAug 22, 2025
Unusual sounds from your Whirlpool dryer can stem from a few causes. If the dryer hasn't been used recently, a thumping sound may occur during the first few minutes. Check for any objects like coins or buttons caught between the drum and the front or rear of the dryer. For gas dryers, a clicking gas valve is normal. Vibrations can occur if the dryer legs aren't installed or the dryer isn't level. Also, separate knotted clothing to prevent bouncing. Lastly, ensure the supply line valve is open for gas dryers.

Why is the cycle time too short on my Whirlpool Dryer?
    • J
      joshuasmithAug 29, 2025
If the automatic cycle is ending too early on your Whirlpool dryer, the load may not be contacting the sensor strips. Try leveling the dryer. For very small loads, use Timed Dry. You can also change the Dry Level setting on Automatic Cycles to increase or decrease the drying time.

What to do if my Whirlpool Dryer is staining clothes?
    • J
      Jacqueline TorresSep 1, 2025
To avoid stains from your Whirlpool dryer, add dryer fabric softener sheets at the beginning of the cycle. Adding them to a partially dried load can stain garments. Drum stains are often caused by dyes in clothing and will not transfer to other clothing.

How to avoid wrinkles in Whirlpool Dryer?
    • M
      Margaret BeckerSep 4, 2025
To minimize wrinkles when using your Whirlpool Dryer: * Remove loads promptly at the end of the cycle. * Select the Wrinkle Shield feature to tumble the load without heat. * Dry smaller loads that can tumble freely.

    Christopher ClarkSep 7, 2025
Why does my Whirlpool 7MWGD7120LW smell?
    • H
      Heather ClaytonSep 7, 2025
If your Whirlpool dryer smells, and you've recently painted, stained, or varnished nearby, ventilate the area and rewash/dry the clothing once the odors are gone. If it's a new electric dryer, the heating element may have an odor that will disappear after the first cycle.

Why is my laundry too hot after using Whirlpool 7MWGD7120LW?
    • A
      Angela WaltonSep 12, 2025
If laundry items are too hot after using your Whirlpool dryer, allow the Cool Down cycle to finish before removing them. If a high temperature cycle was used, select a lower temperature and use an Automatic Cycle.
