What to do if “F9” followed by “E1” or “F09” followed by “E01” (drain pump system error) appears on my Whirlpool 8TWFW5620HW?
    • K
      kelleyfeliciaSep 9, 2025
If your Whirlpool Washer displays “F9” followed by “E1” or “F09” followed by “E01”, this indicates a drain pump system error. Check that the drain hose is properly installed and does not extend into the standpipe farther than 4 1/2" (114 mm). Also, ensure the drain hose isn’t kinked, pinched, or blocked. Remove any clogs from the drain hose, use the drain hose form to securely attach it to the drainpipe or tub, and lower the drain hose if the end is higher than 96" (2.4 m). Finally, make sure you are using HE detergent and measuring it correctly based on load size and soil level.

What to do if “F5” followed by “E2” or “F05” followed by “E02” (door will not lock) appears on my Whirlpool 8TWFW5620HW Washer?

      Ryan Newton MDAug 23, 2025
If your Whirlpool Washer displays “F5” followed by “E2” or “F05” followed by “E02,” it means the door will not lock. To resolve this, touch POWER to cancel the cycle. Make sure the door is completely closed and latched, and check for any items in the washer drum that might be preventing the door from closing fully.

Why is my Whirlpool 8TWFW5620HW not draining/ spinning; why are the loads still wet?
    • N
      Norman HopkinsAug 25, 2025
If your Whirlpool Washer is not draining or spinning and loads are still wet, check the drain hose for proper installation. Ensure it does not extend into the standpipe farther than 4.5" (114 mm), use the drain hose form, and securely attach it to the drainpipe or tub, without taping over the drain opening. Also, ensure the drain hose is not clogged or the end of the drain hose is not more than 96" (2.4 m) above the floor. Check the strainer/stocking on the end of the drain hose and make sure the drain hose does not fit too tightly in the standpipe or is taped to it.

Why is the door locked at the end of my Whirlpool 8TWFW5620HW cycle?
    • E
      Edward MunozAug 27, 2025
If the door of your Whirlpool Washer is locked at the end of the wash cycle due to water remaining in the washer, select the DRAIN & SPIN cycle to remove any remaining water. The door will unlock once the drain is complete.

Why is my Whirlpool 8TWFW5620HW Washer vibrating, rocking, or “walking”?
    • B
      Benjamin SolomonAug 27, 2025
If your Whirlpool Washer is vibrating, rocking, or “walking”, make sure the front and rear feet are in firm contact with the floor and locked, and that the washer is level. The jam nuts must be tight against the bottom of the cabinet. Check the floor for flexing or sagging; if uneven, use a 3/4" (19 mm) piece of plywood under the washer to reduce sound, but do not install the washer on a raised wooden platform. Avoid tightly packing the load or washing single items; balance a single item with a few extra items. Also, check that the shipping bolts have been removed from the back of the washer, referring to “Remove transport bolts from washer” in the Installation Instructions.

Why won’t my Whirlpool 8TWFW5620HW run or fill; why does my Whirlpool 8TWFW5620HW stop working?
    • S
      Steven McbrideAug 29, 2025
If your Whirlpool Washer won’t run or fill, or it stops working, ensure a proper water supply by checking that both hoses are attached and have water flowing to the inlet valve, and that both hot and cold water faucets are turned on. Check that the inlet valve screens are not clogged and that there are no kinks in the inlet hoses. Also, verify a proper electrical supply by plugging the power cord into a grounded 3-prong outlet (without using an extension cord), ensuring there is power to the outlet, and avoiding plugging into a GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter). Check the electrical source or call an electrician to check if the voltage is low, and reset a tripped circuit breaker or replace any blown fuses. NOTE: If problems continue, contact an electrician.

Why is the Clean Washer LED flashing at the end of the wash cycle on my Whirlpool Washer?
    • M
      matthewsnicoleSep 18, 2025
If the Clean Washer LED is flashing at the end of a wash cycle on some Whirlpool models, the washer has run 30 wash cycles and is reminding you to run the Clean Washer with affresh cycle. Run the Clean Washer with affresh cycle. If you don't, the LED will stop flashing after running three more regular wash cycles, but will reappear after 30 more wash cycles as a reminder.

What to do if F# E# or F## E## code other than as described above appears on my Whirlpool 8TWFW5620HW?
    • A
      Amanda DelgadoSep 22, 2025
If you see an F# E# or F## E## code (other than described in the manual) on your Whirlpool Washer display, it indicates a system error. Try touching POWER once to clear the code, then touch POWER again to restart the washer. If the code reappears, call for service. You can also try unplugging the washer for 30 seconds and then plugging it back in.

Why is my Whirlpool 8TWFW5620HW leaking around the door?
    • A
      Amy WilsonSep 8, 2025
If your Whirlpool Washer is leaking around the door, it may be due to hair, lint, or other debris on the inner door window preventing a proper seal with the rubber door seal. Clean the inner door window and seal. See “Cleaning the Door Seal” in the “Washer Maintenance” section.

Why is my Whirlpool Washer making gurgling or humming noises?
    • B
      bobbywhiteSep 4, 2025
If your Whirlpool Washer is making gurgling or humming sounds, it is likely due to the washer draining water. The pump may make a humming sound with periodic gurgling or surging as final amounts of water are removed during the spin/drain cycles. This is normal at certain stages of the cycle.
