Overview

This document serves as a comprehensive daily reference guide for a Whirlpool washer dryer machine, providing instructions for its operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. It is designed to help users understand the various functions and features of the appliance, ensuring efficient and safe use.

Function Description

The Whirlpool washer dryer is a versatile appliance capable of performing three primary functions: wash only, wash and dry, and dry only.

Wash Only: This mode allows users to wash laundry without drying. The appliance offers a range of programmes tailored to different fabric types and soil levels, including Mixed, Cotton, Synthetics, Rapid 30', Sport, White, eCotton, Wool, Delicates, and Colours 15°. Users can customise wash cycles by adjusting temperature and spin speed settings. The "Temp" button cycles through progressively lower temperature settings, including a cold wash option. The "Spin speed" button adjusts spin speed or turns off the spin cycle entirely. Options such as "FreshCare+" can be selected to enhance wash performance by generating steam to prevent unpleasant odours and reduce creasing.

Wash and Dry: This integrated mode allows for seamless washing and drying of laundry without interruption. Users select a wash programme and then choose a drying mode: automatic or timer. Automatic drying offers selectable dryness levels (Wardrobe, Hanger, Iron), while timer drying allows users to set a specific drying duration. This function is ideal for loads that do not exceed the maximum permissible drying load. For larger loads, users are instructed to remove some garments after the wash cycle before proceeding with drying. Two preset cycles, "Wash & Dry 45" and "Wash & Dry 90", offer quick washing and drying for lightly soiled cotton and synthetic fibre garments.

Dry Only: This function is designed to dry wet laundry that has been previously washed in the machine or by hand. Users select a suitable programme for the laundry type and then activate the "Dry only" button. Similar to the wash and dry mode, users can choose between automatic drying with selectable dryness levels or timer drying.

Control Panel and Display: The control panel features an On/Off button, programme selector dial, Start/Pause button, Temperature button, FreshCare+ button, Dry Only button/Lock button, Drying settings button, Display, Start delay button, and Spin speed button. The display shows the duration of the wash cycle, temperature, spin speed settings, and various symbols indicating the status of the appliance, such as door lock status, delayed start, and control panel lock.

Detergent Dispenser: The detergent dispenser is divided into compartments for prewash detergent, main wash detergent (which can also accommodate stain remover and water softener), and softener/liquid starch. A partition (A) is provided for liquid detergent in the main wash compartment, ensuring correct dosage, and can be moved to slot B for powder detergent. A release button allows for easy removal of the tray for cleaning.

Usage Features

Loading Laundry: Users are advised to prepare laundry according to fabric type, colour, and size, and to empty pockets to prevent damage. The door should be closed securely, ensuring no laundry is trapped.

Water Supply: The washer dryer must be correctly connected to the water mains, and the water tap should be open before starting a cycle.

Starting a Programme: After switching on the appliance and selecting a programme, the Start/Pause button is pressed. The indicator lamp illuminates, the door locks, and the door open symbol extinguishes. Programmes can be paused and resumed, and the door can be opened during a paused cycle if the door symbol lights up.

Delaying the Start: The "Start delay" button allows users to set a programme to begin at a later time. The symbol lights on the display when this function is enabled.

Cancelling a Programme: A running programme can be cancelled by pressing and holding the On/Off button. The door will unlock if water levels and temperature are low enough. If water remains in the drum, users are instructed to select the "SPIN & DRAIN" programme, set spin speed to 0, and allow the water to empty.

Switching Off: At the end of a cycle, the message "END" is displayed. The door can only be opened when the door unlocked symbol is lit. The appliance can be switched off manually or will automatically turn off after approximately 30 minutes to save energy. Leaving the door ajar after use helps dry the interior.

Options and Functions:

  • FreshCare+: This option, when associated with wash cycles, uses steam and slow drum rotations to prevent unpleasant odours and reduce creases. For drying cycles, it prevents stubborn creases. It can run for up to 6 hours after the cycle ends and can be interrupted at any time.
  • Lock Button: Pressing and holding the "Dry only" button for 3 seconds locks the control panel, preventing unintentional changes. The symbol lights up to indicate the lock is active.

Maintenance Features

Detergent Dispenser Cleaning: The detergent dispenser tray can be removed using the release button for cleaning, ensuring optimal performance and preventing blockages.

Water Filter Cleaning: Regular cleaning of the water filter is crucial to prevent blockages and ensure correct water drainage. Detailed instructions for this are available in the "Cleaning and Maintenance" section of the full guide.

Energy Saving and Environment Protection: The guide provides tips for optimising energy, water, and detergent consumption, such as adhering to load limits, using recommended detergent quantities, and selecting energy-efficient programmes like "e Cotton" at 60°C. Using the highest available spin speed helps reduce residual water and drying time.

Troubleshooting: The document refers users to the "Instructions for use" for detailed maintenance procedures and troubleshooting problems.

This Whirlpool washer dryer is designed for user convenience, offering a range of programmes and customisation options to cater to diverse laundry needs while also providing guidance for efficient and environmentally conscious operation.
