CIRCULAR
AND
SCALLOP
DESIGNS
With
the
use
of
a
straight
pin
and
the
holes
in
the
machine
at
the
left
of
the
needle
(Fig.
50)
you
can
sew
an
unlimited
number
of
circular
and
scallop
designs.
The
first
hole
will
produce
a
two
inch
circle
with
the
following
holes
increasing
the
diameter
by
one
inch.
The
last
hole
will
make
a
five
inch
circle.
Perfect
scallops
are
produced
by
sewing
only
a
portion
of
a
circle.
The
depth
of
the
scallop
is
governed
by
how
much
of
the
circle
is
used.
Circular
and
scallop
designs
can
be
used
for
almost
anything,
scallop
designs
for
trimming
the
hem
of
a
dress,
drapes,
edge
of
table
cloths
and
hundreds
of
other
items.
Make
scallops
as
follows:
1.
Line
fabric
on
wrong
side
of
depth
of
scallop
and
center
line
of
circle.
2.
Sew
scallop
on
wrong
side
of
material.
3.
Cut
around
scallop
about
1/8
inch
from
stitching.
Some
fabrics
may
require
notching
for
a
smooth
even
turned
edge.
4.
Turn
gently,
roll
out
scallop
between
fingers
and
press.
