Why my White 414 engine fails to start?
    • T
      toni09Jul 26, 2025
If your White Tiller engine won't start, several factors could be at play. The fuel tank might be empty or contain stale fuel; in this case, refill it with clean, fresh gasoline, remembering that fuel won't last more than thirty days without a fuel stabilizer. Ensure the throttle control lever is in the correct starting position. A blocked fuel line could also be the culprit, and it will need cleaning. Check that the choke is in the ON position and that the spark plug wire is securely connected. If the engine is flooded, allow it to air out.

What to do if my White 414 engine runs erratic?

If your White Tiller engine runs erratically, it could be due to several reasons. Ensure the choke lever is in the OFF position. Check the spark plug wire to make sure it is connected and tightened. A blocked fuel line or stale fuel can also cause this issue, so clean the fuel line and refill the tank with fresh gasoline, using a fuel stabilizer if the fuel will sit for more than thirty days. Also, the vent in the gas cap might be plugged and need clearing, or there could be water or dirt in the fuel system, requiring you to drain the tank and refill with fresh fuel.

If your White Tiller engine is overheating, ensure the engine oil level is adequate by filling the crankcase with the proper oil. Also, the carburetor might not be adjusted properly, so adjust it as instructed in the separate engine manual. Air flow might be restricted.

What to do if wheels do not engage on White Tiller?
    • S
      shane18Aug 13, 2025
If the wheels on your White Tiller do not engage, it could be due to a missing clevis pin, which you should replace. The tiller might not be shifted properly, so consult the controls section of the operator’s manual for correct shifting procedures. Additionally, the control cable might not be adjusted correctly; in this case, adjust the control cable as shown in the assembly instructions. A worn or stretched belt can also cause this, requiring a belt replacement.

How to fix tines that do not engage on White Tiller?
    • B
      Bradley BlanchardAug 19, 2025
If the tines on your White Tiller do not engage, there might be a foreign object lodged in them, which you should dislodge. Alternatively, a tine clevis pin could be missing, requiring replacement. Also, the belt might be worn and/or stretched, so replace the belt.
