What to do if the ODS pilot lights but does not remain lighted on my Williams 0656542.9?
    • D
      Dana FloresAug 16, 2025
If the ODS pilot lights but doesn't stay lit when you release the control knob on your Williams Gas Heater, ensure the control knob is fully pressed in and held for 30 seconds after the pilot lights. Wait one minute for the safety interlock system to reset, then repeat the ignition operation. Also, make sure the manual shutoff valve is fully open and the thermocouple connection is snug at the control valve, tightened an additional 1/4 turn. A dirty or clogged pilot can also cause this issue; clean the pilot or replace the pilot assembly. In some cases, the thermocouple or control valve may be damaged, requiring replacement of the ODS pilot assembly or the valve itself. Low gas pressure may also be the cause, in which case you should contact your local gas company.

Why is there no spark at the ODS pilot when I press the igniter button on my Williams 0656542.9 Gas Heater?
    • E
      Edward MilesAug 19, 2025
If there's no spark at the ODS pilot when you press the igniter button on your Williams Gas Heater, several issues could be the cause. The igniter electrode might be positioned wrong or broken, in which case you should replace the ODS pilot assembly. Ensure the igniter electrode is connected to the igniter cable; reconnect it if necessary. Check if the igniter cable is pinched or wet; free it if pinched and keep it dry. Make sure the piezo igniter is securely pressed to the valve inside the heater cabinet top. A broken igniter cable (replace on thermostat models, or replace the valve on manual models) or a bad piezo igniter (replace on thermostat models, or replace the valve on manual models) could also be the problem.

What to do if there's a spark at the ODS pilot but no ignition on my Williams 0656542.9?
    • J
      Jacob HaasAug 22, 2025
If you see a spark at the ODS pilot but the Williams Gas Heater doesn't ignite, first ensure the gas supply is turned on and the manual shutoff valve is open. Check that the control knob is in the PILOT position and pressed in while in that position. If there's air in the gas lines from a recent installation, hold down the control knob and repeat the ignition process until the air is removed. Also, the ODS pilot might be clogged, requiring cleaning or replacement of the ODS pilot assembly. Finally, the gas regulator setting may be incorrect, necessitating replacement of the gas regulator.

    • M
      Mr. Paul KentAug 26, 2025

Why is the burner on my Williams Gas Heater not igniting when the pilot is lit?
    • S
      Shane ThompsonAug 28, 2025
If the pilot is lit but the burner doesn't ignite on your Williams Gas Heater, the burner orifice might be clogged, so clean or replace it. Alternatively, the inlet gas pressure could be too low, in which case you should contact your local gas company.

    • G
      Gregory ReyesAug 31, 2025

    • W
      Walter GuzmanSep 3, 2025
