Overview

The DTE D2 LED Ultrasonic Scaler is a dental instrument manufactured by Guilin Woodpecker Medical Instrument Co., Ltd. It is designed for dental calculus elimination and offers both scaling and perio functions.

Function Description:

The ultrasonic scaler utilizes an ultrasonic transducer, electrocircuit, and water pathway to generate high-frequency vibrations at the tip, effectively removing dental calculus. It features automatic frequency tracking to ensure optimal and stable operation. The device is digitally controlled for easy and efficient scaling.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Main unit input: 220-240V~, 50Hz/60Hz, 150mA
  • Output primary tip vibration excursion: ≤100µm
  • Output half-excursion force: <2N
  • Output tip vibration frequency: 28kHz±3kHz
  • Output power: 3W to 20W
  • Main unit fuse: T0.5AL 250V
  • Water pressure: 0.01MPa to 0.5MPa
  • Weight of main unit: 1.56kg
  • Operating mode: Continuous operation
  • Type of protection against electric shock: Class II equipment
  • Degree of protection against electric shock: Type BF applied part
  • Applied part of the equipment: Handpiece and tip
  • Degree of protection against harmful ingress of water: Ordinary equipment (foot switch is drip-proof, IPX1)
  • Safety of application in the presence of a Flammable Anesthetic Mixture: Not suitable for use in the presence of a flammable anesthetic mixture with air, oxygen, or nitrous oxide.
  • Environment temperature for working: +5°C to +40°C
  • Relative humidity for working: ≤80%
  • Atmosphere pressure for working: 70kPa to 106kPa
  • Environment temperature for storage: -10°C to +50°C
  • Relative humidity for storage: ≤80%
  • Atmosphere pressure for storage: 50kPa to 106kPa

Usage Features:

The DTE D2 LED scaler is designed for user-friendly operation.

  • Setup: After unpacking and verifying all components, place the main unit on a stable surface. Turn the water control knob to maximum. Connect the foot switch plug to its socket. Connect one end of the water pipe to the water entrance and the other end to a clean water source. Select and fix the scaling tip using the provided wrench. Connect the power cord to the main unit and then to a power outlet.
  • Operation: Press the power switch; the power indicator will illuminate. Step on the foot switch to activate the tip vibration and illuminate the LED lamp on the handpiece. The LED lamp remains lit for 10 seconds after releasing the foot switch.
  • Water Volume Adjustment: While the tip is vibrating (foot switch pressed), turn the water control switch to adjust the water spray for cooling the handpiece and cleaning teeth.
  • Scaling Technique: Hold the handpiece like a pen. Avoid touching teeth vertically with the tip and do not apply excessive pressure to prevent damage to teeth and the tip.
  • Vibrating Intensity: Adjust the vibrating intensity as needed, typically starting at a middle grade and fine-tuning during treatment based on patient sensitivity and tartar rigidity.
  • Post-Operation: After use, keep the machine running for 30 seconds with water supply to clean the handpiece and tip. Unscrew and sterilize the scaling tip.
  • Important Note: Do not screw or unscrew scaling tips while the foot switch is pressed and the machine is working.

Maintenance Features:

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of the device.

  • Sterilization: All scaling tips are autoclavable (135°C, 0.22Mpa). The silicon cover can also be autoclaved. The handpiece can be sterilized using any neutral sterilized liquid; it should not be sterilized under high temperature and pressure. The scaling tip and wrench can be cleaned with an ultrasonic cleaner.
  • Cleaning Water Pipe: If the water pipe is jammed, it can be cleaned using a multi-function syringe from a dental unit. This involves snipping the water pipe 10-20cm from the water entrance, turning on the power, connecting the syringe to the water pipe, screwing off the scaling tip, stepping on the foot switch, and then pressing the air or water from the syringe into the pipe to clear impurities.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual provides a detailed troubleshooting guide for common issues such as the tip not vibrating, no water flow, handpiece generating heat, weak vibration, or LED light malfunction, offering possible causes and solutions.
  • General Precautions:
    • Keep the scaler clean before and after operation.
    • Sterilize the scaling tip, wrench, and handpiece before each treatment.
    • Ensure the scaling tip is fastened tightly and produces a fine spray during operation.
    • Replace damaged or excessively worn tips.
    • Do not twist or rub the tip.
    • Use pure water; avoid impure water sources or normal brine.
    • If using a water source without hydraulic pressure, ensure the water surface is at least one meter higher than the patient's head.
    • Avoid knocking or rubbing the handpiece.
    • Ensure the power plug is easily accessible for emergency disconnection.
    • Maintain smooth water flow during use to prevent overheating and potential injury to the patient's tooth surface.
    • Turn off the electrical source and unplug after operation.
  • Storage: Store the equipment carefully in a cool, dry, and ventilated place, away from vibration and combustible, poisonous, caustic, or explosive materials.
  • Long-term Storage: If not used for an extended period, turn off the power, unplug the device, and once a month, connect it to power and water for five minutes.
  • Transportation: Prevent excessive impact and shaking. Handle carefully, avoid inverting, and keep away from dangerous goods, solarization, rain, or snow.

Contraindications:

  • Patients with hemophilia.
  • Patients or doctors with heart pacemakers.
  • Heart disease patients, pregnant women, and children should use the equipment with caution.
