Usage Features:
Initial Set-Up:
- Plug the 3-Prong AC cord into a 110/120V grounded outlet.
- Turn on the main power switch on the back of the unit; both LED displays will show "---" and blink.
Hot Air Gun Operation:
- Programming: Insert the hot air gun into its holder on the side of the unit to enable programming.
- Connection: Plug the hot air gun into the front power receptacle on the left side and tighten the ring nut.
- Power On: Turn on the Hot Air Power Switch on the lower left. The display will show the last used temperature for 2 seconds, then "- - -", indicating readiness for programming.
- Temperature Adjustment: Use the blue "Up" or "Down" arrows on the left side to set the temperature. The display will blink during setting and show "- - -" in standby mode once set.
- Operation: When removed from the holder, the hot air gun will start blowing air and heat up to the programmed temperature in about 8 seconds.
- Cool-Down: When placed back in the holster, it will continue blowing air until the temperature reaches 100°C, then airflow stops. This is a safety feature.
- Complete Shut-Off: Turn off the power switch on the left side.
- IMPORTANT: Always place the hot air gun in its holder and allow it to cool down automatically before unplugging the unit or shutting off the main power switch.
Soldering Iron Operation:
- Preparation: Before placing the soldering iron in the holder and turning it on, remove the lid of the rosin flux.
- Connection: Plug the soldering iron into the front power receptacle on the right side and tighten the ring nut. Place it in the provided holder.
- Power On: Turn on the soldering iron power switch. The LED display will show the last used temperature and begin heating.
- Temperature Adjustment: Use the blue "Up" or "Down" arrows on the right side. The display will blink during setting and stop blinking after about 3 seconds once the new temperature is set.
- Complete Shut-Off: Turn off the power switch.
Adjusting Air Flow (Hot Air Gun):
- Remove the hot air gun from the holder to activate heating and blowing.
- Adjust airflow using the Air Flow Control Knob from 20 to 99.
- IMPORTANT: For temperatures above 300°C, set airflow to 45 or higher to prevent damage and extend the heating element's life.
Function Operations:
Hot Air Gun Cool Mode:
- Press the airflow control knob quickly to switch to "COOL" mode. "COOL" will light up, heating stops, and air drops to room temperature. Press again to resume heating.
Hot Air Gun Auto/Manual Mode:
- AUTO Mode: When in its holder, the hot air gun automatically enters cool-down mode, blowing air until room temperature is reached, then stopping. When removed, it immediately starts airflow and heats to the set temperature. "AUTO" displays on the screen.
- MANUAL Mode: Press the AUTO/MAN button above the airflow control knob to switch to MANUAL. The hot air gun will blow air and heat up even when in the holder.
- NOTE: Always use AUTO mode for safety. Manual mode is rarely needed and reduces heating element life.
Soldering Iron Sleep Function:
- When placed in the holder, the iron enters sleep mode after 2, 10, or 30 minutes (user-set). "SLP" displays, and temperature drops to 392°F / 200°C. When removed, it ramps back up to the previous temperature within 5-10 seconds.
Setting the Soldering Iron Sleep Timer:
- Ensure the soldering iron is in its holder.
- Turn on the power switch.
- Press and hold the aluminum airflow adjustment knob for ~2 seconds. Time options will light up, and the current selection will blink.
- Options are 0, 2, 10, or 30 minutes. (0 means no sleep mode, which can reduce iron/element life).
- Adjust the temperature knob to select the desired sleep time. Press the airflow adjustment knob twice to save and exit.
Temperature Conversion (°C/°F):
- Ensure both the soldering iron and hot air gun are in their holders.
- Turn on power switches.
- Press and hold the aluminum airflow adjustment knob for ~2 seconds. Sleep time options light up; press the knob once more.
- Both °C and °F light up; the current choice blinks.
- Turn the airflow adjustment knob to select °C or °F.
- Press the airflow adjustment knob once to save and exit.
Temperature Calibration:
- Turn on the power switch for the device being calibrated (hot air gun or soldering iron).
- Remove the device from its holder to ensure it's at the set temperature and not in sleep mode. (Note: Hot air gun temperature varies with distance from source).
- If the measured temperature differs from the set temperature, press and hold the "Up" and "Down" buttons for 2 seconds for the respective device until the display flashes. "CAL" will light up, and the temperature being calibrated will flash.
- Rotate the airflow adjustment knob to enter the measured temperature into the flashing display.
- Once the correct temperature is shown, press the Air Adjustment Knob to save and exit.
Maintenance Features:
Replacing Soldering Iron Tip:
- Turn off the station, unplug, and allow the iron to cool completely. Never remove a hot tip.
- Unscrew the larger metal tip retaining screw ring at the bottom of the metal shaft.
- Slide off the soldering tip retaining collar, then slide the tip forward to remove.
- Slide a new tip over the ceramic heating element, then slide the metal retaining collar back onto the iron.
- Tighten the metal tip retaining screw ring to snug the tip. Do not overtighten.
- Plug the AC cord back in to resume soldering.
Replacing Hot Air Gun Nozzle:
- Turn off the unit and unplug it.
- Allow the hot air gun and attachment to reach room temperature.
- Do not use excessive force. Loosen the screw and nut from the attachment by holding the nut with pliers and turning the screw counterclockwise.
- Slide the attachment off the metallic shaft.
- Install in reverse order. Do not overtighten the screw and nut.
Replacing the Heating Element (Soldering Iron):
- Turn off the unit and unplug it.
- Allow the soldering iron to cool completely. Never remove a hot tip.
- Unscrew the Black "Bakelite Polymer" Retaining Cap and slide off the full tip assembly.
- Push the Power Cord through the bottom of the iron while gently pulling the heating element to expose it.
- De-solder the 2 Thin (red or white) wires and 2 Thick (blue) wires (with heat shielding) from the circuit board. Pull the heating element away. Note wire thickness/color for reinstallation.
- Solder a thin wire to (1) and a thick wire to (2) on one side of the circuit board.
- Flip the circuit board and solder a thin wire to (3) and a thick wire to (4).
- Gently pull the cord back and align the circuit board to the iron's slots so the cord returns to its original position.
- Replace the Bakelite Polymer Retaining Cap and screw it back on. Hand tighten – Do NOT over-tighten.
- Install the soldering tip, slide the metal retaining collar, and hand tighten. Plug the AC cord back into a grounded outlet.
- NOTE: Heating element wires can be soldered to either side of the circuit board; there is no polarity.
Soldering Tips Preparation & Care:
- Keep tips properly tinned with sufficient rosin flux. A well-tinned tip is bright when hot.
- To tin the iron:
- Plug in and allow to reach solder melt temperature.
- Flood the tip with solder for one minute.
- Apply more solder, let idle for 1-2 minutes, then wipe lightly on a sponge. Do not remove all solder; wipe solder onto non-tinned areas.
- Do not file or reshape the tip; this destroys plating and shortens life. Avoid chloride and acid fluxes.
- For maximum tip life, apply solder to heated connections/joints. Repeated direct application to the tip shortens its life.
- WARNING: Do NOT use anti-seize or any lubricant on the tip retainer or heater.
Error Messages:
- SE ERROR MESSAGE: Indicates the heating element needs replacement (worn out or cracked). Note: Element life is typically 6-12 months when operating in the normal range of 600°F ~ 650°F / 315°C ~ 343°C.
- F-1/F-2 ERROR MESSAGE: Indicates the hot air gun fan has stopped working; check the power supply.
