The Xiaomi Multi-function Camping Lantern is a versatile lighting device designed for various outdoor and indoor scenarios, offering both primary and secondary light sources with multiple modes and adjustable settings. This user manual provides comprehensive instructions for its operation, maintenance, and safety precautions.

Function Description

The camping lantern is ingeniously divided into two main components: a primary light and a secondary light, each offering distinct functionalities and light effects. This modular design allows for flexible usage, adapting to different lighting needs.

The primary light serves as the main illumination source, capable of emitting light in five different modes:

  • Always-on mode: Provides continuous illumination with adjustable brightness and color temperature.
  • Breathing mode: Offers a gentle, pulsating light effect.
  • Candle flicker mode: Mimics the warm, flickering glow of a candle, creating a cozy ambiance.
  • Flowing color mode: Displays a dynamic sequence of colors.
  • Color light mode: Allows for the selection of a specific color with adjustable brightness.

The primary light features a control knob for adjusting brightness and color temperature/color, and a mode button for cycling through the different light effects. An on/off button controls the power, and an indicator provides status updates on battery level and Bluetooth connection. A Type-C charging port is integrated for convenient recharging.

The secondary light is a detachable component that can function independently as a flashlight or a side light. It is designed to be compact and portable, providing focused or diffused light as needed. When attached to the primary light, it can be charged simultaneously. The secondary light also includes an on/off button, charging contacts, a lens, a suspension loop for easy carrying or hanging, and a battery level indicator.

The device supports Bluetooth connectivity through the Mi Home/Xiaomi Home app, enabling remote control and access to advanced features. This integration enhances user experience by offering more precise control over lighting parameters and additional functionalities.

Usage Features

The Xiaomi Multi-function Camping Lantern is designed for ease of use, with intuitive controls for both its primary and secondary light components.

Installing and Unlocking the Secondary Light: The secondary light can be easily attached to or detached from the primary light. To lock it in place, rotate it clockwise. To unlock and remove it, rotate it counterclockwise. When the secondary light is inserted into the primary light and locked, it automatically turns off, conserving battery.

Primary Light Operation:

  • Turning On/Off: Press and hold the on/off button for 0.5 seconds to turn the primary light on. It will resume the mode and state it was in when last turned off. Press and hold the button again for 0.5 seconds to turn it off.
  • Switching Modes: While the primary light is on, press the mode button to cycle through the five available modes: always-on, breathing, candle flicker, flowing color, and color light.
  • Adjusting Brightness: In always-on mode or color light mode, turn the control knob clockwise to increase brightness and counterclockwise to decrease it. Brightness adjustment is not available in candle flicker, breathing, or flowing color modes.
  • Adjusting Color Temperature/Color: In always-on mode, press and hold the control knob while turning it clockwise to increase color temperature, and counterclockwise to decrease it. In color light mode, turn the control knob while pressing and holding it to adjust the color. Color temperature/color adjustments are not available in candle flicker, breathing, or flowing color modes.
  • Indicator Status: The primary light's indicator provides visual feedback:
    • In operation: Blinks red for battery level ≤ 10%, keeps red for 10% < battery level ≤ 30%, and is off for battery level > 30%.
    • While charging: Breathes in white. Once fully charged, it breathes in white for 20 seconds and then turns off.
    • Bluetooth connection: Blinks blue when waiting for connection or during OTA updates/reset, and keeps blue when connected.

Secondary Light Operation:

  • Turning On/Off: Press and hold the on/off button for 0.5 seconds to turn the secondary light on. It defaults to flashlight mode. Press and hold again for 0.5 seconds to turn it off.
  • Switching Modes: While the secondary light is on, press the on/off button to cycle between flashlight and side light modes. Brightness or color temperature cannot be adjusted in these modes.
  • Battery Level Indicator: Similar to the primary light, the secondary light's indicator shows:
    • In operation: Blinks red for battery level ≤ 10%, keeps red for 10% < battery level ≤ 30%, and is off for battery level > 30%.
    • While charging: Breathes in white. Once fully charged, it breathes in white for 20 seconds and then turns off.

Charging:

  • Secondary Light Attached to Primary Light: When a Type-C charging cable is plugged into the primary light, both the primary and secondary lights will charge simultaneously. If no Type-C cable is plugged in, the primary light will charge the secondary light until it is fully charged, provided the primary light's battery level is above 15%. If the primary light's battery drops below 15%, it will stop charging the secondary light to protect its own battery. Charging resumes once the primary light is recharged to over 30%.
  • Secondary Light Detached from Primary Light: The primary light can be charged independently using a Type-C charging cable. The secondary light, however, cannot be charged independently when detached.

Connecting with the Mi Home/Xiaomi Home App: The lantern can be controlled via the Mi Home/Xiaomi Home app, which can be downloaded by scanning a QR code or searching in an app store. Once connected, users can:

  • Turn the camping lantern on/off.
  • Adjust brightness, color temperature, and color for always-on and color light modes.
  • Switch between modes and create custom modes.
  • Utilize a turn-off delay function.

Resetting Bluetooth: To reset the camping lantern's Bluetooth connection, press and hold the on/off button of the primary light for seven seconds. The lantern will automatically restart. After resetting, the device needs to be re-added in the Mi Home/Xiaomi Home app.

Maintenance Features

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of the Xiaomi Multi-function Camping Lantern.

General Maintenance:

  • Product Integrity: This product is designed for durability but should not be disassembled by unauthorized personnel. Any repairs should only be carried out by technicians authorized by Xiaomi to prevent injury and ensure proper functioning.
  • Cleaning: Keep the charging contacts on the secondary light clean. If soiled, remove stains to ensure proper charging.
  • Storage: Avoid placing or storing the camping lantern in locations where it is prone to falling into water or other liquids, such as bathtubs or sinks, to reduce the risk of electric shock. Store the device at room temperature for optimal battery performance.

Battery Safety Warnings:

  • Handling: Do not open or cut the battery. Avoid exposing the battery to excessive heat or flames, and keep it away from direct sunlight. The battery should not be subjected to mechanical shock.
  • Leakage: In the event of accidental battery leakage, avoid contact with skin or eyes. If contact occurs, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek prompt medical attention.
  • Charging: Always use a qualified charger that meets the camping lantern's specifications. Charging with an unsuitable charger can damage the device and void the warranty, potentially leading to other risks. It is recommended to charge the battery at room temperature. If the battery temperature reaches 45°C, the charging protection function will activate, stopping the charging process.
  • First Use and Long-Term Storage: Charge the battery before its first use. After long periods of storage, the battery may require several charge and discharge cycles to achieve optimal performance.
  • Disposal: When the camping lantern needs to be disposed of, the battery must be removed first. Disconnect the lantern from the power supply before removing the battery. Always recycle and dispose of the battery in a proper and environmentally friendly manner, adhering to local regulations.

Light Bulb Replacement: The light bulbs in the camping lantern are irreplaceable. When a light bulb reaches the end of its service life, the entire camping lantern needs to be replaced.

Usage Precautions:

  • Eye Safety: The camping lantern emits a strong light. Avoid shining the light directly into the eyes of people or animals, or into the lenses of optical equipment, to prevent potential harm.
  • Children's Safety: Children should be supervised by their parents when using the camping lantern to reduce the risk of injury.
  • Water Exposure: To prevent electric shock, do not immerse the camping lantern in water or any other liquids.
  • Sensitive Users: Individuals with epilepsy, autism, or other sensitivities to light flicker should avoid using the breathing and candle flicker modes for extended periods.
