Warranty and Disclaimer
Within THREE years after the purchase date, the original buyer may return any XKGLOW products that has one or more
LEDs that fail to illuminate, due to a defect in materials or workmanship.
Installation of this product must be performed by a licensed professional. Should the failure of the product be the result of
damage occurring as a result of improper installation, alteration of the product or an act or omission on the part of the consumer,
this warranty is void. XKGLOW Lighting shall not be responsible for any consequential damages which arise from the use and/or
installation of the product. If the kit is installed in any manner other than specified, XKGLOW Lighting reserves the right to deny any
warranty claims at the discretion of the technical support department. Any product return must include the original packaging,
invoice number and a statement of the alleged defect. Upon receipt of the returned product, the company will test the product for
defect. If the results of the testing do not support the warranty claim, do not reveal any defect or indicate consumer negligence in
the installation and handling of the product, then the product will be returned to you and you will be charged a reshipping fee. If the
product is returned from an address within the continental United States, within the first 30 days after purchase, and is found to be
defective, XKGLOW Lighting will exchange or refund the original purchase expense. This offer does not extend to the cost for
shipping charges on any international packages.

Return/Exchange Procedure
1. Email xk@xkglow.com to notify us of the product issue as well as the item number and name of customer on invoice.
2. We will send you the trouble-shooting guide to fix the issue, or to narrow down which of the component(s) need to be replaced.
If the issue still exists, we will ask you to send back the defective items to be replaced.
3. Please send the returned item as instructed, along with claims and a telephone number where you can be reached.
4. After the returned item(s) have been accepted and inspected, we will issue a refund or replace the items ASAP. For refunds,
item(s) must be sent to XKGLOW within 14 days from date of purchase. Original shipping charges are not refundable.

This document describes the XKGLOW 3rd Gen LED Truck Tailgate Light, models XK041023 and XK041024.

Function Description

The XKGLOW 3rd Gen LED Truck Tailgate Light is an external lighting accessory designed for trucks, enhancing visibility and safety. It provides various lighting functions, including running lights, turn signals (left and right), and reverse lights. The light bar is intended to be mounted on the tailgate area of a truck.

Important Technical Specifications

The tailgate light operates on a 12-15V DC input voltage. Max Power Draw:

• Red (48" / 60" models): 13W / 18W
• White (48" / 60" models): 10W / 12W

Usage Features

Mounting Options: The tailgate light offers two primary mounting methods: Permanent Mounting and Removable Mounting.

Permanent Mounting:

1. Test Light Bar: Before permanent installation, plug the light bar into the 4-pin trailer plug. With the vehicle off, activate hazards to confirm proper operation.
2. Prep Mounting Surface: Clean the mounting surface thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol and allow it to dry completely. This ensures proper adhesion.
3. Position Light Bar: Remove the red tape backing and loosely position the light bar on the vehicle. Do not press firmly until centered and straight. Once satisfied with the position, press firmly and thoroughly. The wiring must exit towards the LEFT side of the vehicle.

Removable Mounting:

1. Test Light Bar: Similar to permanent mounting, plug the light bar into the 4-pin trailer plug and test its operation with hazards.
2. Prep Mounting Surface: Clean the mounting surface with isopropyl alcohol and let it dry.
3. Install Brackets: Evenly space and snap the provided brackets onto the light bar. Position the light bar with brackets onto the vehicle using masking tape, ensuring it is centered and straight. Mark the position of each bracket. Remove the light bar and secure the brackets to the vehicle using self-tapping screws.
4. Install Light Bar: Insert the top of the light bar into the brackets first, then push the bottom into place. The wiring must exit towards the LEFT side of the vehicle.

Wiring Options:

For Trucks without Trailer Detection:

1. Plug the 4-pin plug of the tailgate light bar into the truck's 4-pin trailer plug.
2. Reverse Light Wiring: Use the supplied red scotchlok to tap the additional black wire into the center wire on the 7-pin plug or into the factory reverse light positive wire behind one of the tail lights. Refer to the vehicle's service manual for the correct reverse + wire color.
3. Power on the vehicle and test all functions.

For Trucks with Trailer Detection: This method requires cutting the 4-pin plug and direct wiring.

1. Remove the tail lights to access vehicle wiring.
2. Cut off the 4-pin plug from the truck tailgate light.
3. Using supplied scotchloks, tap the black (ground), red (running), and green (left turn) wires into their corresponding wires behind the LEFT side tail light. A diagram is provided for plug pinout:
   • Black Wire - Ground
   • Red Wire - Running
   • Green Wire - Left Turn
   • Yellow Wire - Right Turn
4. The yellow wire (right turn signal) needs to be tapped into the turn signal positive wire on the RIGHT side of the vehicle. An included extension wire is provided to reach the right side. Use one scotchlok to extend the yellow wire and another to tap into the right side turn signal positive wire.
5. Reverse Light Wiring: Use the supplied red scotchlok to tap the additional black wire into the center wire on the 7-pin plug or into the factory reverse light positive wire behind one of the tail lights. Refer to the vehicle's service manual for the correct reverse + wire color.
6. Secure any loose wiring and reinstall the tail lights.
7. Power on the vehicle and test all functions.

Troubleshooting for Trailer Detection Issues: If the truck displays any of the following issues, the dedicated power wire (RED wire coming directly from the tailgate bar) needs to be connected to a constant fused 12V power source:

• Trailer detection warning
• Trailer light out warning
• Tail lamp out warning
• Blind spot detection warning
• Flickering of light bar on any function

The RED wire can be connected directly to the positive battery terminal with a dedicated inline fuse, or to the 12V wire on the 7-pin trailer plug (ensure this 12V wire is switched to constant-on power for proper function).

Maintenance Features

Warranty:

• Duration: Within three years of the purchase date.
• Coverage: Covers defects in materials or workmanship resulting in one or more LEDs failing to illuminate.
• Voided Warranty: The warranty is void if failure results from improper installation, alteration of the product, or consumer acts/omissions. XKGLOW Lighting is not responsible for consequential damages.
• Return Process: Any product return must include original packaging, invoice number, and a statement of the alleged defect.
• Testing: Returned products will be tested for defects. If no defect is found or consumer negligence is indicated, the product will be returned to the customer, and a reshipping fee will be charged.
• Exchange/Refund: For products returned from within the continental United States within 30 days of purchase and found to be defective, XKGLOW Lighting will exchange or refund the original purchase expense. Shipping charges for international packages are not covered.

Return/Exchange Procedure:

1. Notification: Email xk@xkglow.com to report the product issue, including the item number and customer name from the invoice.
2. Troubleshooting: XKGLOW will provide a troubleshooting guide to help fix the issue or identify the defective component(s). If the issue persists, you will be asked to send back the defective items.
3. Shipping Returns: Send the returned item(s) as instructed, along with claims and a telephone number.
4. Processing: After the returned item(s) are accepted and inspected, a refund or replacement will be issued promptly. For refunds, items must be sent to XKGLOW within 14 days from the purchase date. Original shipping charges are not refundable.
