NOTE 1! Depending on your car, you may need one or two additional antenna adapters.
One to connect the vehicle’s antenna to the FM Direct and another adapter to connect
the FM Direct to your vehicle’s stereo.
NOTE 2! You can use tie wraps to secure the FM Direct Adapter to existing wire
harnesses or other under-dash structures. Make sure the FM Direct Adapter is
secured in a way that prevents it from rattling or chang against vehicle wiring.
NOTE 3! When splicing into the car’s power cables behind the dash, plug the XM radio’s
power adapter (cigarette lighter adapter) into the supplied power adapter socket
instead of the car’s power adapter. Doing so keeps the car’s power adapter available
for future use.
Vehicle Installation
Turning the FM Direct Adapter On
As long as your car is on, the FM Direct Adapter is in a standby mode. When your car
is off, the FM Direct Adapter automatically turns off and does not drain the car’s
battery.
Changing the Frequency
When you turn on your XM radio, the adapter automatically switches FM reception from
your car’s antenna to XM reception.
Your XM radio uses a built-in FM modulator to receive XM Satellite Radio programming
on an unused FM frequency. Set your car radio to the same FM frequency as the one
selected for your XM radio. See your XM radios user guide for more information on how
to select an FM frequency.
