Overview

The DEUS II RC is a sophisticated metal detector that introduces a range of new features and modifications, enhancing its performance and user experience. This device offers extensive customization options for tones, threshold, frequency, and audio filtering, allowing users to fine-tune their detection settings for various environments and target types.

Tones, Threshold, and Volume Settings

The DEUS II RC provides highly customizable tone settings. Users can choose between 2, 3, 4, or 5 Tones, accessible through the MENU > DISCRI > EXPERT path. The MULTI TONES screen allows for detailed customization of the sound partitioning across the discrimination range. For each part of the discrimination range, users can assign a specific volume level (0 to 10) and a sound frequency, which can be comparatively low- or high-pitched. The TONE BREAK can be selected using the down arrow, and the VOLUME (VOL) can be adjusted with the + and - buttons. Notably, the volume of the low-pitched tone (tone 1) is linked to the Iron Volume.

For "Full Tones" mode, the ground area is audible from -6.4. In this mode, the discrimination setting functions as a "tone break," and the Iron Volume setting controls the volume of ground and ferrous signals below the discrimination level. Within Full Tones mode, accessible via EXPERT, users can further customize the sound partitioning of the discrimination range and adjust volume levels for each tone independently. The TONE BREAK and VOLUME (VOL) can be set using the + and - buttons after selecting the tone with the down arrow.

An "Offset Full Tones" feature, available only when Full Tones mode is ON, allows users to shift the audio frequencies of targets with a signature just above the Discrimination threshold. This helps to better differentiate them audibly from iron. The OFFSET FT setting can be adjusted from 0 (no offset) to 40 (all targets above discrimination will sound with the same high tone), with 5 being the default value for a little offset.

The "Threshold" setting, active only in Pitch mode, allows modification of the threshold tone for the deepest and smallest targets. This tone can be adjusted from 150 to 603 Hz by pressing EXPERT and using the + or - buttons.

Frequency and Audio Filtering

The DEUS II RC offers a wide selection of programs with different frequency configurations. It includes eleven simultaneous multi-frequency programs, each with unique combinations of frequencies and internal parameter settings. The maximum frequency used by FMF programs can be configured by the user to 14 kHz, 24 kHz, or 40 kHz. This flexibility allows users to adapt the machine to their soil conditions and desired targets. For instance, a 24 kHz limit makes the device less sensitive to very small conductors and more stable in difficult ground, while a 14 kHz limit focuses on high conductors and reduces crackling from ferrous targets. The 40 kHz limit provides the most versatile option, covering the widest frequency range for sensitivity to a broader range of targets, non-ferrous items close to ferrous, and improved performance on mineralized ground.

For FMF multi-frequency programs, users can select one of the three frequency limits (14 kHz, 24 kHz, 40 kHz) using the + or - buttons. If experiencing too much interference, the SHIFT button can be used to shift frequencies and find the quietest band with + and - adjustments, or an automatic scan can be initiated by pressing SCAN.

The "Audio Filter" function is designed to refine the audio, producing a softer and more "fluty" sound, particularly when targets are at the detection limit. This can result in less scratchy signals at depth and, in some situations, may even gain a little extra depth. For beach environments, high levels (2 to 4) are recommended, especially when combined with low reactivity (0 to 1). For land use, lower levels (1 or 2) are suggested to help identify short iron blips. Setting the Audio Filter to 0 deactivates it.

The "Audio Type" includes a "High Square" option, which provides a richer and clearer harmonic sound compared to the standard Square tone, especially for deep or small targets, making them higher and more identifiable. When combined with the Pitch tone, strong targets near the coil will sound lower and softer than with the standard Square tone.

Ferrous T.ID and Program Specifications

The "Ferrous T.ID" function controls the display of visual target IDs for targets that fall below the discrimination setting. For example, if FE TID is set to OFF, only target IDs above the discrimination adjustment will be visible, even if Iron Volume is kept ON.

The manual provides comprehensive program specifications for Prg 1 through Prg 12, covering various settings such as Discrimination, Tones (1, 2, 3, 4, 5 tones), Pitch, Full Tones, B.caps, Notches (1, 2, 3), Discri IAR, Silencer, Sensitivity, Salt Sens, FMF Frequency MAX, Mono Frequency, Iron Volume, Reactivity, Audio Response, and Threshold. Ground settings include Grab/Manual, Tracking, Ground Stability, and Magnetic ground (Accept/Reject). Audio Type options are PWM, SQUARE, and HIGH SQR. Pinpoint and Go Terrain functions are also detailed, along with Frequency Scan options.

For custom programs (Prg 13 through Prg 24), the manual outlines the same extensive range of adjustable parameters, allowing users to create and save their personalized detection profiles based on their specific needs and preferences. This level of detail and customization ensures that the DEUS II RC can be optimized for a wide array of detecting scenarios, from general use to specialized applications like relic hunting, diving, and beach detecting.
